History of the Resort
Built as the first international Hilton hotel, this Gem of the Caribbean has been dazzling guests since 1949. The grand opening was attended by celebrities of the day, including David Rockefeller and Gloria Swanson. As well as being home to the first Piña Colada cocktail ever made, the resort has featured in many popular TV shows and films.

The second Ritz-Carlton Reserve hotel opens in Puerto Rico. The 115-room hotel will be located on Dorado Beach (Dorado Beach, 80 kilometers west of San Juan).
Dorado Beach Ritz-Carlton Reserve will open in December 2012. It will be surrounded by a 20-hectare park. The hotel also owns 1.6 kilometers of coastline.
Of the 115 rooms, 14 will be suites with separate bedrooms and ocean views. The hotel will also open a private residence with five bedrooms. She will occupy the original hacienda with her own plantation, Independent writes.
