EMBASSY OF THE REPUBLIC OF ABKHAZIA IN THE BOLIVARIAN REPUBLIC OF VENEZUELA

INFORMATION ABOUT THE COUNTRY

Venezuela is one of the most colorful countries in South America.

Here, the snowy peaks of the Andes and the Amazonian jungle, the beautiful Gran Sabana plateau and almost 3000 km of sandy shores, the largest lake in South America — Maracaibo and the third longest river of the planet — Orinoco, the highest waterfall on the planet — Angel and the longest cable car road in the world. The bustling capital of Venezuela, the multi-million dollar Caracas was founded by Captain Diego de Lozada in 1567 and was originally named Santiago de Leon de Caracas.

Most of the cultural and architectural attractions of Caracas are concentrated in the old part of the city, which is called El Centro here. The area surrounding Plaza Bolivar is replete with historical monuments — on the south side of the square rises the building of the Museum of Caracas, on the ground floor of which is located Conchejo Municipal. The museum’s collection includes numerous paintings and documents related to the struggle for independence and other significant events of the past. On the east side of the square rises a colorful colonial-style cathedral — Catedral de Caracas. Quite modest compared to the cathedrals of most other Latin American capitals, the Catedral de Caracas reflects the relatively small value of the city and country to the Spanish crown, and Simón Bolivar’s parents and his wife are buried within the cathedral cemetery, which makes this place an attractive place for pilgrimage. South of the cathedral, in a former convent building, is the Museo Sacro de Caracas, with an extensive collection of religious art. Also nearby is the residence of the Venezuelan Archbishop and the building of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the country — Casa Amarilla.

Just a block southeast of Plaza Bolívar, you can find Casa Natal de Simon Bolívar, a large colonial-style house that houses the El Libertador House Museum. And five blocks north of Plaza Bolívar is the Pantheon Nacional, where he is buried. Just two blocks west along Avenida Universidad lies the El Capitolio Nacional complex, which houses the country’s parliament. Directly opposite rises the most recognizable church of the city — Iglesia de San Francisco. The quaint interior of the church contrasts sharply with its neoclassical facade, which was renovated in the 18th century, but Iglesia de San Francisco gained its fame as the place where in 1813 Bolivar was declared «liberator». Now the church and its altar of San Onofre serve as a real place of pilgrimage. Also within the central part of the city, around the Plaza Morellos, which is often called the «Plaza of Museums», are the Museum of Modern Art, the Museum of Colonial Art and the Museum of Transport.

The long strip of Park Central is lined with hundreds of street vendors selling everything from herbal medicines to CDs. This is the most recognizable part of the city thanks to the “glass” of twin towers of Bellas Artes, the oldest art museum in the Venezuelan capital. A block to the east is the entrance to Parc Los Caobos, which houses three museums and two cultural centers — the National Gallery, the Natural History Museum, the Terreso Carrena Theatre, the third largest theater in Latin America and the sixth largest in the world, the Museo del Arte. Contemporoneo and Museo de los Niños.

There are also many interesting places around Caracas. First of all, this is the famous Avila National Park, spread along the spurs of the ridge of the same name just north of the city. The uninhabited emerald slopes of Ávila rise above the city like a huge green wave frozen in motion. And just 15 km to the north, behind the ridge, stretches the luxurious Caribbean coast — the focus of beaches and resort areas. Here is the city of La Guaire — the sea gate of Caracas. To the south of the city stretches the suburb of El Hatillo, famous for its colonial architecture, and 60 km west of Caracas, among the forests of the Cordillera de La Costa, there is one of the main attractions of the area — the mountain village of Colonia Tovar, for almost two hundred years inhabited by the descendants of German colonists.

The Andes mountain range crosses the entire western part of Venezuela, from the Colombian border to the Caribbean coast. The ridges form three main branches — the Sierra Nevada, the Sierra de la Culata and the Sierra de Santo Domingo, rising almost 5,000 meters above sea level. The green mountains of the Sierra Nevada de Mérida are the northernmost tip of the Andes system. Here, small villages stretch for hundreds of kilometers, whose inhabitants still live in a traditional way of life, and the mountains themselves, whose foothills practically bathe in the warm waters of the sea, serve as a well-known bait for all outdoor enthusiasts. The colorful city of Mérida, lying in the mountains just 12 km from the country’s highest peak — Pico Bolívar, is one of the most popular tourist centers in Venezuela, from where many trails and routes for hiking, trekking and other outdoor activities run. The most popular mountain hiking area is the Sierra Nevada de Mérida, widely known for the Bolivar and Humboldt peaks, as well as the magnificent Sierra Nevada National Park.

The picturesque and bustling student city of Merida was founded in 1558 by the Spaniard Juan Rodriguez Suarez, who named it Santiago de Los Caballeros de Merida. It is now a university town widely known for the proverbial courtesy of its people and for its parks. Its attractions include the old district of La Parocchia, the colorful colonial-style airport building, the Jardin Acuario Park, the Museum of Science and Technology, the monument to Juan Rodriguez Suarez, Plaza de Los Geronas, the colorful church in Rangel del Llano , University, Plaza de Toros, Flower Clock, Albarregas Park with the Museum of the sculptor Mariano Pisin Salas, the Miranda Viaduct, the colorful Mercada Principal de Mérida street market.

And the hallmark of Merida is the longest and highest cable car on the planet — Teleferico de Merida. It stretches from the city center (altitude 1639 m above sea level) to the top of the second highest peak in Venezuela — Espejo, forming a thread of three cables with a length of 12.6 km.
The tiny town of Tabay, 10 km from Mérida, is the starting point for visiting La Mucuy National Park. 52 km northeast of Merida lies the picturesque city of Mucuchies, founded by the Spaniards in 1586. The city gave the name to the famous Venezuelan dog breed, so a monument to the dog rises on the traditional Plaza Bolívar.

Almost half of the country is occupied by the Guiana Plateau, which is an ancient crystalline massif of the Guiana Shield. The main “resource” of this part of the country is the unique nature that combines the Amazonian rainforests, breathtaking mountains, mighty rivers and waterfalls, as well as magnificent flora and fauna.
The highest waterfall on the planet — Angel is located on one of the branches of the Carrao River, in the heart of the Canaima National Park. With a total height of the ledge of the huge Auyantepui mountain range, from which water erupts, at 979 m, the highest free fall height of water is 807 m, which is 20 times higher than Niagara and 15 times higher than Iguazu. On land, the waterfall can only be reached by a seventy-kilometer boat trip from Canaima, and then on foot through the jungle. The difficulty also lies in the fact that the waterfall itself is most full-flowing and beautiful in the rainy season, when air excursions are greatly hampered by powerful clouds and fog, and traveling by land is difficult for mountain selva. The town of Canaima is the heart of the National Park and Angel Gate.
The Roraima Plateau stretches along the Venezuelan border with Guyana and Brazil for 280 square meters. km. This is the southern part of the Guiana Highlands, which includes huge areas occupied by a fantastic hodgepodge of «tepui» and «simas».

The Rio Orinoco is the third longest river in South America, the Orinoco stretches for 2150 km from its sources near the Brazilian border in the south of the country to a wide delta on the northeast coast of Venezuela. The Orinoco Delta, sometimes also called the Amacuro Delta, is one of the largest in the world. The myriad of forested islands that make up the delta are home to the Huarao tribes, who live on the banks of the river in stilt buildings and make a living from woodcarving, fishing and hunting. And the Orinoco itself and its sleeves are a separate attraction — each channel has its own color of water, its own ecosystem and even its own composition of water. The ichthyofauna is the most interesting here — the waters of countless branches of the great river are inhabited by about 420 species of fish, among which about 40 are endemic, and about 70 species of reptiles, including the largest snake on the planet — the anaconda.

Venezuela has about 3000 km of coastline and almost a hundred islands, which makes it one of the most promising areas for a seaside holiday. The Spaniards understood this — the first resorts on the northern coast of the country began to appear along with the conquistadors. The city of Porlamar is the capital of Margherita and a famous duty-free zone. By itself, it is nothing special — an ordinary island city, of which there are many in the Caribbean. All business and cultural life revolves here in the Santiago Marino avenida area, where most of its duty-free shops are located, and upscale hotels, as well as all attractions, are located outside it. Therefore, most of the guests of the island simply drive through the capital, trying to make all excursions from hotels. And there is something to see here.
The Los Roques archipelago lies 168 km north of El Litoral. Many islands are completely closed to the public, and tourists are provided with a recreational zone, which includes the islands of Gran Roque, Madriska, Francisco, Cayo Pirate, Kraska, Nordisca and many small islands. The shores here are not as spectacular as on Margarita, but here you can see what the islands and reefs of the Caribbean looked like before the arrival of man. All the islands are surrounded by a coral reef, considered one of the best places in the country for diving and snorkeling, and there are even several shipwrecks off the coast of Nordisca, in which the famous Caribbean lobsters find refuge. There are restaurants only on Francischi and Kraski, and on Madriski you can see several villas built by wealthy Caracas before the announcement of the conservation area.
The northwestern part of the country is much less familiar to tourists than the Caribbean islands. However, here you can find some of the best coastlines in the country, several colorful colonial cities and two beautiful National Parks: Henri Pittier and Morokoy, each of which boasts magnificent landscapes and diverse nature.
In the northwest of the country, at the base of the narrow isthmus of Medanos, which links the Paraguana peninsula with the continent, lies the town of Koro. The main attractions of the city are: Calle Zamora — the most beautiful colonial street of the country, built up with numerous old mansions, among which the most interesting are Casa del Sol and Casa Gurmesido Torres, as well as the Iglesia Chapel of San Nicolò de Bari and the old the cemetery in its enclosure, the church of Iglesia San Gabriel, the Cathedral of Coro, the churches of San Clemente and San Francisco on Calle Zamora, the famous Cruz de San Clemente, El Balsin de los Arcaya, El Balsin de Bolívar, the El Carrizal Chapel on the site of the Church of St. Mary of Guadalupe that existed until 1723, the Arch of the Federation, the picturesque Plaza Manaure, Cementerio Yudo de Coro, the Mother Monument in the square of the same name and the modern theater of Armona.

Maracaibo also attracts a few tourists. Much more interesting are the provincial towns surrounding the lake — the colonial city of Choroni with its narrow, winding streets and colorful buildings, Ocumare de La Costa with its small waterfalls, and the town of Chuao, lying just a few kilometers from coast of the same name, is considered one of the best cocoa producers on the planet.

Amazonas is the second largest state of Venezuela, Amazonas is the least populated area of the country. The northern part of this area smoothly passes into the Gran Sabana Llanos, and the center and east are, rather, the spurs of the Guiana Highlands, replete with moist equatorial forests and the famous «tepui». The impassability of these amazing places greatly limits the possibility of visiting them. The only starting point for all tours is the state capital, Puerto Ayacucho, which boasts only the Ethnological Museum of Amazonas, the handicraft market in front of it and the Rio Negro avenue, also turned into one large shopping mall.

Miniature park — frwiki.wiki

Not to be confused with an amusement park.

Beconscot Miniature Village.

Miniature Park , also incorrectly called miniature park, is a type of specialized amusement park in which miniature reproductions (mainly architecture) are displayed. These parks may contain, depending on their theme, models representing entire cities, districts, or very specific monuments.

In these parks, most of the time is spent outdoors to play with the landscape, the scale of which can be easily deceived (for example, with bonsai trees), and thus enhance the impression of visitors that they have become giants.

These parks have become full-fledged tourist sites, as well as theme parks, zoological parks or water parks.
