ATV Countryside Adventure
Go off the beaten path on a 4×4 — where you’ll explore the diverse geography and wildlife of Puerto Rico. You’ll head out on your ATV across 2,200 acres of the Puerto Rican countryside, with views of mountains, mangroves, lagoons, limestone formations and wildlife
DISCOVER MORE SHORE THINGS
With nearly 300 beaches dotted along the coastline of an island no bigger than the state of Connecticut, Puerto Rico’s laid-back, Caribbean vibe isn’t really up for debate. But what makes this little island stand out with such fervor is the diversity and the pride of its people. After the devastation from Hurricane Maria in 2017, the island fought hard to rebuild, and in doing so, a renewed sense of pride and independence emerged — creating an even more energized and effervescent scene that begs the travelers and tastemakers of the world to take notice.
In the end, you leave feeling like it’s far more than just a pleasure to have seen Puerto Rico, but rather a deep and unmatched privilege.

Puerto Rico — all about the country, leisure and travel
Puerto Rico can be divided into five tourist regions — northern, central, southern, eastern and western.
San Juan
You will certainly visit the northern region, because its main city is the capital of San Juan. You can arrive here by ship, as it is one of the largest cruise ports in the world. Or fly to the international port of Luis Munoz Marin. Other airports provide civil air service between the islands. It was the capital that became the first tourist center of the country and holds this palm to this day. In San Juan, tourists admire the ancient architecture (Old San Juan), here you can visit ancient castles and forts: Castillo de San Felipe del Morro, San Cristobal, El Morro, Santa Catalina Palace, Convento de Convent -los Dominicos. Like any capital, San Juan is a cultural center, with many museums and art galleries. You can also stroll through the Luis Muñoz Rivera Park, which has the 18th century Armory and the Pavilion de La Paz, with various exhibitions. Ride the funicular in the Luis Muñoz Marine Park for spectacular views, and take a tour of the Bacardi Rum Factory. If you want something unusual — go to the cockfighting club, appreciate this local traditional fun. However, remember that this is a rather cruel spectacle that is made for the sake of betting.
Carolina
In the northeastern region is the municipality of Carolina. Here you can either relax in luxury hotels or go to the private ranch Hacienda Campo Rico. Here you can feed exotic animals, ride horses, shoot archery and go on a trip through the jungle on special ATVs.
El Yunque
The Eastern Region is best known for El Yunque (Caribbean National Forest), which is located 40 km southeast of San Juan. Locals often call it the main attraction. Here you can enjoy a walk through the tropical jungle, climb the Yokahú Tower, swim in a waterfall, taste water from a mountain stream or drink coconut milk.
Fajardo
The large port city of Fajardo is also located to the east. There are beautiful beaches here, where, in the evenings, you can watch wonderful sunsets, and the local cuisine is famous for fresh and deliciously cooked seafood. Visit with a guided tour, on a special tram, the mangrove forests of the Las Cabezas reserve and the historic lighthouse of San Juan. In addition to the architecture of the old city, Fajardo is famous for its proximity to one of the three luminescent bays of Puerto Rico. To see the “neon” glowing plankton bay, you can take a kayak tour and admire this incredible spectacle in the Grande lagoon. Another such place is near the island of Vieques, where plankton is considered the brightest. This island also has very good beaches, which are not so famous due to its remoteness. Moreover, there are beaches, both for swimming and for snorkeling and surfing. By the way, it is from Fajardo that you can find a ship to get to the islands of Vieques and Culebra. You can also fly to the latter, since there is a small airport there. The main town of Culebra is Devey. The island itself is small and attractive, mainly for those who like to lie on snow-white beaches (Flamenco Beach and others), admire the reefs and go scuba diving.
Ponce
In the south of Puerto Rico is a key city to visit — Ponce. It was the capital until 1898. Without exaggeration, it can be called the center of historical and cultural monuments, and in this it may well compete with the capital. Walking along the streets of Ponce, you will literally breathe in the spirit of the era, because the old churches (most of the inhabitants of Puerto Rico are Catholics) are adjacent to colonial-style buildings and fountains. The Tibs Ceremonial Center recreates the village of the Arawak Indians, the city’s first settlers, while various museums showcase Puerto Rico’s history, culture and music. The theme museum Bombay Park stands out, which is dedicated to the history of firefighting on the island decades ago. From Ponce you can go to the small island of Gilligan, in the waters of which, diving enthusiasts will appreciate the coral reefs and exotic fish.
Not far from Ponce is one of the largest karst cave complexes in the world, Rio Camuy. Once upon a time, Indian tribes hid here, and now tourists admire stalactites, stalagmites and patterns from limestone rocks in them. Here you can go down on ropes to the famous Cathedral Cave, in which Taino petroglyphs were found, and the local underground river Kamai is one of the largest in the world.
Mayagüez
While every beach in Puerto Rico is beautiful, the beaches on the west coast are especially wonderful. Near Mayaguez — the best beaches for water sports and diving. The city is the only zoo in Puerto Rico with animals from South America and the Caribbean. Main attractions: the oldest Catholic church of Porta Coeli, built in 1609year, the lighthouses of Punta Higuera and Cabo Rojo. By the way, they can take beautiful pictures of the views, especially at sunset. Mayaguez is one of the largest seaports in Puerto Rico, so you can get out by boat from here or sail to another city if you like to travel by water.
Arecibo
The attraction that made Puerto Rico famous in terms of research is the Arecibo observatory with one of the largest radio telescopes in the world (304 meters in diameter). It is located at an altitude of almost 500 meters in the mountains, 15 kilometers from the city of Arecibo in the northwest of the island. Here you can admire the views and learn more about how humanity is trying to explore the cosmos with the help of a huge aluminum «plate».
