Kate del Castillo (Kate del Castillo): filmography, photo, biography. Actor.
Kate was born on October 23, 1972 in Mexico City. The girl’s mother was the beautiful Kate Trillo, and her father was the legendary actor of the golden era of Mexican cinema and a former soap opera actor, Eric del Castillo. From childhood, the girl was brought up with two other children — her sister Veronica and her half-brother on her father’s side, Ponciano. Her acting debut took place in 1980. She played a role in the film «The Last Escape». The actress gained wide popularity after eleven years, taking part in the creation of Alfredo Gurrola’s telenovela «Girls». Kate embodied on the screen the image of Leticia — a girl belonging to the middle class, forced to oppose herself to the wealthy stratum of society and ashamed of her true financial situation. The tape received great love from the Mexican audience, and soon won hearts throughout Latin America, reaching Puerto Rico, Venezuela and Peru. This work marked the beginning of a string of similar offers for leading roles in telenovelas. In 2002 and 2003, the actress, along with another well-known figure in Mexico, the Argentinean actor and former football player Saul Lisaso, went on a world tour with her Love Letters project. nine0003
In 2009, Castillo was elected Ambassador of the Mexican Commission on Human Rights and a year later she took part in the preparation and implementation of the Blue Heart Campaign, designed to take action against human trafficking. In November 2007, the actress was proclaimed «Star of the Year», and in 2011 she was included in the list of «25 most powerful women» and «50 most beautiful women» according to the Spanish-language glossy People magazine. In February 2001, Kate married the famous Mexican striker Luis Garci Postigo. Three years later, their marriage was annulled. After that, Castillo moved to Los Angeles. A year later, information appeared in the press that the actress’s house was robbed by robbers who stole some of her jewelry. At the time when this happened, Kate, along with Jennifer Lopez, took part in the filming of Gregory Nava’s drama «Border Town», which tells about deaths in the Mexican town of Ciudad Juarez. Other roles in the film were played by Martin Sheen and Antonio Banderas. In May 2006, the tape was shown at the Cannes Film Festival and was nominated for the Golden Bear Award at the Berlin Film Festival. nine0003
In 2008, the joint French-American-Mexican-Belgian crime drama by Eric Zonk «Julia» was released, in which Kate played the role of Elena. In 2009, Castillo got married for the second time. Now her chosen one is the Mexican actor, singer and model Aaron Diaz Spencer. The marriage ceremony was held in Los Angeles. Two years later, the couple officially announced the termination of the union. 2009 also brought the actress a role in the Alan Jacobs drama DownforLife. Two years later, Castillo was chosen to play the lead role in the film adaptation of Arturo Perez-Reverte’s novel The Queen of the South. The television series was a huge commercial success and filming continued for three months. In 2012, Kate starred in an advertising campaign for the PETA Animal Protection Society. At the moment, the actress is working on Sam Miller’s thriller No Good Deeds. nine0003
