Warrior, prayer book for the fallen

The tradition is sacredly kept in the Lavra — after the funeral bell is struck, all the brethren must suspend all their obediences and each make twelve bows to the earth. And after putting on the newly deceased in monastic robes, read the Gospel in turn at the tomb.

Since Father Herman died from the current deadly plague, with the blessing of the lord vicar, the brethren read the Holy Scriptures in the newly reposed cell — that is, literally every brother, and these are hundreds of monks, in the cell read the Gospel after the priest with prayers for the dead. With the blessing of Father Herman, the Psalter with the commemoration of the dead was read on the territory of the church of Peter and Paul in the chapel, which was built back in 90s in memory of the soldiers who died in Afghanistan. Although then the next war was already going on — in Chechnya. Not all of those killed on the battlefield today were church people, but prayer for them did not stop here.
