«I attended a Salsa group class where Jewel was teaching. I was very impressed with her teaching style and knowledge. Having never had any formal dance training I decided to take some private lessons from her. Jewel has patience and is committed to seeing that her students get it. She breaks the steps down so that they can be easily understood, explains them and then demonstrates the steps so you can video them to practice on your own. Jewel is very personable and makes learning fun. I highly recommend her to anyone wanting to learn dance.»

«I’m so grateful to have Jewel as my salsa master! Personally, I just can’t not go to her Sunday salsa styling class. Not only is she a graceful dancer, she is also an amazing instructor. Her attention to detail helps me correct my habits and errors. Every week she puts together different choreos for us to learn, including various styling techniques/ body movements. Her Sunday class is open-level. Whether you are a complete beginner or more experienced, you will always leave the studio with great takeaway. So don’t be scared even if you are brand new. She is there for you wherever you are in your dance journey.

After having taken Salsa lessons from
various instructors over the last two years, there is no doubt that Lawerence and Jewel are the very best.
They are both phenomenal dancers which doesn’t always translate into being phenomenal teachers but they are phenomenal teachers indeed! They both break down the footwork from the follow and lead perspective which is really helpful to understand both sides regardless of if you are a follow or lead.
Their class is incredibly fun and they both rotate within the class thus leading to individual coaching for all the students.
I’m very grateful I found Phoenix Salsa Dance and look forward to their instruction on my dance journey.

I’ve been taking classes from Jewel and Lawrence for a while and I’m so grateful for their contribution. You can trust them because their passion and dedication for what they do are truly authentic. They value the importance of fundamentals which is often overlooked and hard to master at the same time. Whether you are a complete beginner or more experienced, you will always leave the studio with great takeaway. Don’t be scared to show up even if you are brand new.

The hydrometeorological center promised rain in Voronezh for the weekend, and nature did not deceive — on Saturday, August 17 was postponed by the organizers — «Federation of Modern Dance SOLO DENS» to Sunday, in the hope of better weather.
The desire to participate absolutely free of charge in the salsa master class was so great among the participants that nature listened, and on Sunday it was excellent, warm weather. The best thing is to go dancing in the evening.
By 19:00 in the very center of Voronezh, in the courtyard of the house 52 on Pyatnitskogo, those who decided to spend their evening with benefit and learn more about one of the simplest, but at the same time very dynamic and incendiary dance, gathered. For those who were not at the last open salsa party, the coach briefly talked about the history of dance, how to move, and once again reminded everyone that salsa literally translates from Spanish as “sauce”, so elements of a variety of dance styles can be found in the dance. directions, and all this is united by music that does not allow you to stand still. No one was going to sit, and immediately after a short introductory part, the learning of dance elements began, which gradually turned into a single pattern. At first, someone asked how to do this or that movement correctly, slowly and patiently repeating it after the master, but no more than half an hour passed, when all the participants began to dance at the same pace as the teacher was moving.
A short break for tea and coffee, and the participants again took the stage to show their skills acquired at the master class. Restless children tend to move at a pace to overtake everyone else, older women move slowly, but do their best to keep up with those who came with them to learn to dance. Those who got confused and wanted to know something about the details of some dance element, boldly asked the coach and received a little personal training, where they were helped to master the movement, which seemed difficult. The ability of the teacher to work with each one separately, and at the same time with everyone at once, gave the party a special atmosphere, where there are no laggards and achievers — everyone became one team.
Evening, lanterns on the trees, stage, music and loud laughter — a party that can last forever, and only the upcoming Monday does not allow it to continue until morning.
What could be better than spending a Sunday evening in the rhythm of dance, when everyone is on stage — from small children to very old people, who are united by one thing — a love of active pastime, as a result of which you can learn and try something new. For some, this will be the beginning of a new hobby, someone will stop learning salsa at the master class, but everyone got the main thing — a great mood and a charge of vivacity for the whole week.
Editorial note: Salsa party — is one of the classes « Social Dance Workshop » as part of the project « Overcoming Gravity » , which received a presidential grant. WRCPO « Our History » is a project partner.
