This one of great places to visit. Local historic castle. All tourist guide is lovely and friendly. what i like most inside the castle was the first time i able to see made in gold dining ware from 1930’s. Also, the interior design and furniture was stunning. Must see it in person, since photos are not allowed during the tour inside the castle. For me its all worth it. The price for tour was cheap too.
Also, They have souvenirs shop and bar that have a lot of choices.more

google.com/maps/place/?q=place_id:ChIJ-yZ-63gqHYwRze80icc0_iQ»>Really cool part of Ponce’s history. Worth checking out for the view alone. Its location and altitude overlooks most of the city. During the days it’s nice, offering tours of inside and the medium sized (.5 acre?) Garden areas. It has a Cafe and gift shops, and Don Q tasting areas. At sunset and at night, it’s pretty gorgeous. Absolutely worth the trip if your staying in Ponce.

Nice tour of home built in 1930’s. Short film to start explaining history etc… Then a guide escorts through the home highlighting era specific items relating to life of very rich people and how they coped. Must have been tough indeed.
Photos forbidden inside.
Our ticket also included Japanese garden and Cruceta across the road. Spectacular views. Breezy would be an understatement.One can purchase Don Q

If you miss the Museums regular operating hours, it’s worth the drive to To the entrance, if for no other reason then to see if your car can make it up the steep hill and around the blind curves. It’s especially worth going during the daytime so you can see the great view all the way out to the ocean.
And if you’re into Christian religious monuments, there is a huge six story cross on the top of the mountain, which you can go into and take a view from the observation deck inside of it.more

Visiting Ponce and Castillo Serralles — Concreteislandista
If you make your way to Puerto Rico, I and many others may suggest visiting Ponce. Ponce, located in the south of Puerto Rico is rich in history and museums. It’s also the city where my maternal grandfather lived, so it was on our list to visit the City of Lions. Its nickname thanks to the fact that it was founded by Spanish conquistador Ponce de Leon. Being so, you will see statues, street art, and more depicting lions around the city. Ponce is also home to Castillo Serralles, or the Serralles Castle, and the Cruceta del Vigia or the Cross of Vigia. If you’re looking to immerse yourself in a bit of history, Ponce and Castillo Serralles are excellent options.
Museums in Downtown Ponce-
Unfortunately because of Covid-19 many of the museums we wanted to visit were still closed so we were not able to visit all the museums we wanted to. One of the most famous of all, Parque de Bombas, traditionally a firehouse turned museum that tells the history of Ponce, was also closed so pictures of the exterior would have to do.

Me
Castillo Serralles-
Castillo Serralles or Castle Serralles was owned by the Serralles family. This family prospered due to their sugarcane business and their creation, Don Q, a Puerto Rican Rum. Don Q is very famous in Puerto Rico, and I’ve heard it to be more preferable to Bacardi, for many Puerto Ricans on the island. The grounds surrounding the castle include intricate gardens, one of which is a butterfly garden. At the entrance, you can choose to take a guided tour of the inside or do a self-guided tour of the grounds and cross.
Where they made rum
La Cruceta del Vigia and the Japanese Garden-
La Cruceta (the cross) is located up the hill from Castillo Serralles and gives you great views of Ponce when you get to the top of the cross. Take a quick break at the old-styled Tienda (store) where you can buy refreshments at the entrance of La Cruceta del Vigia. Just across La Cruceta is the Japanese garden where you can see different plants and trees. It’s also a great spot to sit and enjoy the views.
Casa Museo de Los Santo Reyes in Juana Diaz-
Juana Diaz is a town east of Ponce, with its own interesting history including Casa Museo de Los Santo Reyes or House Museum of the Saint Kings ( Three Kings Museum) is a museum that showcases artwork and the history of the celebration or festival of Three Kings Day or Ephianhy, which began in Juana Diaz, Puerto Rico. History says that this celebration was founded by Father Valentin Echevarria of Spain in 1884 in Puerto Rico. The celebrations grew into parades, that have visited cities around the world including New York and cities in South and Central America and neighboring Caribbean islands. Three Kings Day is commonly celebrated by Puerto Ricans, especially in Puerto Rico with parades and festivals still to this day during the month of January. Although the holiday is one day, it is celebrated for many days during the holiday season in Puerto Rico.

Other places to visit in Ponce-
Museo de Arte de Ponce- Holds the famous Flaming June painting along with other renowned works of art. It is also the Caribbeans’ largest museum.
La Guancha boardwalk- This is said to be a great local spot for food, drinks, live music, and a good spot to enjoy wildlife. You can also go kayaking and paddleboarding here.
Hacienda Buena Vista- Ponce’s coffee museuem.
Plaza de la Delicias- A local plaza to relax.
I hope this gives you some ideas on what you can see and do in Ponce, Puerto Rico. By the time you read this, hopefully, the places that were closed due to Covid will be open. Finally remember that when you travel, your vacation spot is someone’s home so please be respectful.- T.S.

Castillo Morales method
The Castillo Morales method is a comprehensive rehabilitation approach to the treatment of patients with communication and sensorimotor defects, with swallowing and breathing disorders. The technology is based on manual influence and psycho-emotional contact. The method allows eliminating motor-speech pathologies in children with a wide range of neurological diseases.
Principle of the method Castillo Morales
The method is actively used to activate the speech apparatus. The basis is the principle of stimulating the muscles of the speech apparatus, developing and improving the function of swallowing, breathing and speech. Points of influence: active zones of the head and cervical region. The key options for the impact of a specialist — pressing, pulling and vibration — allow the patient to fully feel his speech apparatus.
The central axis of the therapeutic approach developed by the rehabilitation therapist Castillo Morales is to work with the whole body of the patient as a whole. This is the only way to achieve the desired result. This technique is well combined with other activities (Vojta, NDT Bobath) in rehabilitation programs for children with:
- cerebral palsy;
- decreased tone of the muscles of the speech apparatus;
- nutritional disorders;
- pathologies of the speech and motor apparatus;
- genetic syndrome;
- other neurological diseases.
Objectives of the method
- Normalize muscle tone in the areas responsible for the function of speech and the swallowing reflex.
- Synchronize the work of muscles with breathing.
- Improve blood microcirculation in the head and neck area.
- Activate the motor function and improve the general health of the patient.
Features of the technique
The complex of procedures includes acupressure of target areas, massage of the face and neck, special gymnastics. The mental development of the patient is not important, because all procedures are performed by a specialist. With the help of hands, he stimulates the muscle tone of the muscle group responsible for breathing, swallowing, chewing, speech.
The use of the Castillo Morales technique has a positive effect on blood microcirculation in the facial and cervical areas. Contraindications — an acute form of epilepsy and inflammation in the neck, pharynx, face.
Individual work programs with children include:
- Stimulation of connections between sensory and motor functions.
- Vibration technique to relieve tension from the muscles of the speech apparatus.
- A therapy focused on stabilizing the body and activating the speech area.
- Classes with special plates that stimulate the tongue and correct muscle tone.
- Development of the ability to chew and swallow in children with spasticity and muscle tension.
At each session, the specialists of the Galileo Center work out the most relevant points for the patient at the moment. Our main goal is to assess the individual characteristics and needs of the patient, to develop a personal therapy program that will enable normal communication with the outside world.

Castillo Morales | KidsRehab
«Castillo Morales» — the concept of a comprehensive rehabilitation and therapeutic approach for children and adults with communication, sensory, oral and facial disorders.
⠀
In 1977, the concept was developed by a doctor from Argentina — Rudolfo Castillo Morales (1941-2011).
The method is effective when working with both children and adults (as part of neurological rehabilitation).
IMPORTANT in the concept of CM:
- Communication of the patient himself.
Articulation and expressiveness of facial expressions are subtle coordinated movements of our muscular system and are extremely important for our communication.
- This coordination and regulation is also necessary to eat and drink without difficulty.
- Positive and productive communication with the patient.
- Touch, eye contact, facial expressions or gestures.
The «Castillo Morales» therapist must find effective ways of communication at all levels so that the patient can understand him (and difficult patients are no exception!)
CM stimulates the MUSCLES involved in the speech process:
Pathological tension of these muscles leads to difficulties in closing the lips, finding the breast, sucking, swallowing, later chewing.
⠀
Same muscle groups are involved in the production of speech sounds, therefore, difficulties in the field of physiological functions lead to articulation disorders. ⠀
Difficulties arising in the mouth and face are interrelated with impaired cooperation and coordination of the ENTIRE muscular system.
Work with young children is based on an individual program for the prevention of speech disorders: balance, the proprioceptive system, and exteroceptive sensation.
- Touch
- Stroke
- Pressure
- Stretch
- Vibration
With young children, work is done on the lap of the therapist or on the mother’s body to give the child the highest level of confidence, increase self-esteem, and stimulate motivation to face the new challenges facing him.
