Beware of SCAM!
Dec 2022
Very friendly sales woman sold me a $900 private guided snorkel tour knowing that I was a single parent with 4 teenage kids. We we arrived at the marina and set off for a small island 10 minutes away. The Captain docked the boat on the island with no intent of snorkeling. He had a loaded cooler full of old beer, some water and soda. There was no functional snorkeling gear provided. There were a few old and moldy mismatched masked and fins but not enough for 5 people. I asked the captain if he was going to guide us and he said no. He said if I wanted to snorkel to take my kids around a dangerous reef but he wouldn’t go. Do NOT TRUST this business. I complained and they would not refund any part of my payment. I will continue to inform local hotels and taxi drivers about this practice as I hope it saves another family the disappointment. If you simply want to go to Icacos Island, take the ferry for $3 per person.

It’s OK but noisy
Dec 2022 • Friends
It is a nice island but don’t think for a second that it will be peaceful. There are many boats that anchor there each day, each blaring different music that kills any vibe on the island.

Icacos visit❤️
Jul 2022 • Family
Most beautiful beach in the east coast of Puerto Rico. No restrooms , no food concessionaire only sand and blue waters. Very busy you have to get transport boats before 10:00 am otherwise it will be crowded. Boats are leaving passengers in the morning and return for them in the afternoon, water taxis available for around 40 to 60 dollars per person. Catamaran adventures very affordable, snorkeling and visit to different cays and Culebra beach!

Party central…..
Apr 2022
Its a beautiful little island. Fantastic snorkeling. However, keep in mind this is a party place! Lots of boats, all with loud music and drinking. You will not come here and be able to relax.
Saw a few families with young children clearly feeling out of place. If you’re looking for a party atmosphere, you will love it!

Gorgeous, but Look into Where You «Park»
Jul 2021
Despite how beautiful the island clearly is, it is much degraded by storm damage such that a number of vessels cannot «park» right near the beach. It can be difficult to get ashore (fighting a current in water well over your head; floatation devices insufficient for transporting any gear — much less a towel — to the beach) if you are a late coming boat, even on expensive catamaran tours. Consider instead a water taxi (bring your own shade, gear and water!) or look into how early your vessel will arrive at the island. We were happy to have seen the gorgeous but eroding island while it is still there, but should have enjoyed it from the boat.

Take Cariduros Water Taxi to Visit Icacos
Jul 2021
Cayo Icacos is a beautiful Island, pristine turquois waters ,very busy during weekends. Nice for swimming. We take Cariduros Water Taxi, They are the best water taxi ! Capitan Reynaldo was so kind to us ,We were a family group of 8 ,including my Elderly parents . Capitan Reynaldo helped my 77 years old Mother get in /out from the boat. It was a very successful trip to Icacos. We have a great family day in Icacos thanks to Reynaldo and Cariduros Water Taxi. The only inconvenience is the trash in some areas of the Island ,including broken glasses I picked up all the trash that I saw because we needs to preserve this pretty Island of Icacos.

After a comfortable sail of about 45 minutes, you will anchor at one of the small deserted islands and cays off the northeast coast of Puerto Rico. Normally it is the island of Icacos, but the captain will sometimes head to Cayo Lobo or Palominos if the conditions are better for the day.
Once you arrive, step off into shallow water and spend the next 1.5 hours walking on the beach, beachcombing, and swimming in the crystal clear waters.
Return on board to enjoy your pre-packed lunch. Sodas, water, and juices are also available, and those with a taste for the sweeter things in life will want to sample the specialty piña coladas and tropical rum punch.
When you have eaten your fill, the boat will head a short distance out and anchor over the reef for another 1 or 2 hours of swimming or relaxing. A leisurely sail back to Marina Puerto del Rey will bring you back to the dock, with plenty of time to enjoy your afternoon and evening in Fajardo.

The entire crew was amazing. I called to see if they had gluten free options which they did provide and verified the day before. We had an amazing time. Beers were delivered to us in the water at one of our stops. The snorkel spot was absolutely breathtaking. Worth every penny!! Was an absolute amazing experience
The island is beautiful. We were able to snorkel and record all the ocean animals. The staff was so nice and they were super host. Highly recommend this trip. Chicken wraps was delicious and drinks too. We did the full day and was worthy. Showers are available if you need to take a shower. Just bring your toiletries and ready to go out. I visited Naguabo Malecón. Good mojitos and food at Ikakos restaurant was recommended by Strayawayfelix! Food was amazing and mojitos❤️

The resort advantages of the Hicacos Peninsula
Inviting Russian journalists to the FIT Cuba-2009 exhibition, the hospitable Cubans kindly provided for a few free days, which, after getting to know the historical cities of Cuba, we spent with great pleasure on the famous beaches of Varadero.
Cuba has more than 300 beaches with a total length of about 600 km. Among them there are white, yellow and even black sand (photo) .
But the most famous is, of course, Varadero. The fashion for relaxing here was introduced at the end of the 19th century by wealthy planters who built several wooden villas for themselves on the deserted coast. It became a favorite secular resort for North American millionaires at the beginning of the 20th century, when the French industrialist Irene Du Pont de Nemours decided to settle here. At 19In 26, almost for next to nothing — at 4 centavos per square meter, he bought almost the entire Hicacos Peninsula. Du Pont sold a meter of land to rich Americans for 120 pesos. Gradually, an extensive tourist, entertainment and recreational infrastructure was established on the blessed Hicacos. The sumptuous Du Pont estate now houses an 18-hole golf course officially named the Varadero 40th Anniversary Golf Club. It is included in the schedule of professional players around the world. By the way, Che Guevara himself liked to wave his stick here. And one more interesting detail — when, after the victory of the revolution, the du Pont mansion was converted into the Las Americas restaurant, at its grand opening, which took place on 1963, our Valentina Tereshkova took part.
Today, the usual resort life flows on Varadero — tourists swim in the ever-warm sea, sunbathe on the velvet sand (photo) , sail on yachts and surfs, go to restaurants and discos, enjoy the fantastic colors of evening shows.
If you get tired of doing nothing, the holidaymakers go to a performance at the dolphinarium and even swim there with these playful animals, visit the wonderful Varaikakos natural park and the Ambrosio cave located in it with drawings of the ancient inhabitants of the island. Particularly inquisitive examine the exposition of the small Municipal Historical Museum, housed in one of those wooden villas built for themselves by the first vacationers. Or they walk along the alleys of the Retiro Josone Park. This is a good place to walk with children. There are many bars and restaurants, souvenir shops in the park, a multi-colored candy train runs merrily along the paths, and catamarans run along the green water of the pond (photo) .
There are many different animals in the park — from prosaic chickens and roosters to lizards and real pink flamingos (photo) .
In the evenings, Afro-Cuban musical shows are often arranged, smoothly turning into a night disco (photo) .
There are almost fifty hotels on Varadero, ready to receive about 30 thousand guests. Russian journalists lived in the Villa Cuba 4* hotel (photo) , part of the Gran Caribe network — a large green area, swimming pools, restaurants, bars, well-equipped air-conditioned rooms, a nightclub, evening animation with an indispensable carnival-Caribbean bias.
Surely the time will come when the coast of Icacos will be completely built up with hotels, among which there will be many representatives of the most expensive hotel chains. While there are still free places at the edge of the sea, but even today a tourist who is thirsty for relaxation will find here a corner suitable for himself and his wallet. Several hotels of the famous Spanish chain Sol Melia have settled in Varadero. It is even difficult to say which of its representatives in the resort is the best — Paradisus Varadero 5 *, whose territory is 100 thousand square meters. meters, or Paradisus Princesa del Mar 5 *, opened in 2004. Moreover, Sandals Royal Hicacos Resort & SPA 5 * is located next door — incredibly beautiful and well-groomed, it is often recommended for newlyweds. The resort complexes of Barcelo, Iberostar, Oasis, Cubanacan chains are no less interesting and comfortable. Russians prefer to stay in hotels of at least a 4-star category, most often choosing something from the Sol Melia, Iberostar and Oasis chains. nine0053 (Lyubov Bulgakova, RATA-news.
