  I was very impressed with the hotel staff — all very friendly yet extremely professional. It always comes through to you when people enjoy what they are doing! The hotel is beautiful with exquisite landscapes. We were surprised to see that the hotel is really a family resort area and therefore thought it was a little pricey but certainly are happy we were there!

  Wonderful, big, airy room! Very comfy bed. Huge bathroom. Walk in wardrobe. Beautifully kept grounds and facilities. Really impressive place.

  The quality and price of the food — eye wateringly expensive and absolutely terrible. Really lets the place down. Such a shame as everything else is just lovely! If you don’t have a car, you can feel a bit stuck. But it is possible to walk along the marina and see some things.

Believe it or not, the main reason why I wanted to go on vacation to warmer climes was the desire to see my Barabec naked on the street. Not wrapped in overalls, hats and mittens, but in panties and a T-shirt. We decided to go somewhere where it is warm, where there is an ocean and where to fly for a very short time. We chose Puerto Rico. Since this is part of the USA, we didn’t need not only visas, but also passports. They just showed their American ID/license.

We flew for only four hours, during which Barabek slept for two hours, sucking on his mother’s milk, and entertained his parents, flight attendants and passengers for two hours [there should have been a photo of a happy family in the cabin, but … let’s not talk about unfortunate photos again] . nine0004

In total we had six days of vacation, we decided to spend three days on the beach and three days in San Juan (the capital of Puerto Rico). For the first three days we stayed at the huge luxury resort of El Conquistador. The hotel is located on a hill with such a wonderful view.

The hotel is very beautiful, but boring, because there is not much life around it. Every evening we took a taxi and went to neighboring towns to restaurants.

Inside the hotel there is a casino, a nightclub, several restaurants and shops. And, of course, parrots — huge beautiful parrots that say “Olya” (hello in Spanish) in a human voice. Lisa laughed at them so much that I even managed to pull out the camera and film this effervescent laugh of hers at every parrot “Olya” — alas, this video also sank into oblivion. nine0003

The hotel does not have its own beach, but has its own bay with boats and its own island. To get to the island, you need to go down to the shore — here we are with Lizka.

And then take the ferry and sail to the island in five minutes.

Well, the dream of a crazy mother came true — a child in only shorts! [there should have been tempting photos of a mother in a tiny bathing suit that barely fit a third size . .. oh, no luck!]

For a couple of hours on the beach, I watched over the sleep of my little ones.

Half an hour from the hotel there is the famous jungle, where we went. Lizka in a backpack — and on the hills, on the hills.

At the end of the half-hour journey, a waterfall was waiting for us, where the happy dad freshened up with pleasure.

And Tiger Cub and I quietly waited for him.

Three days on the beach flew by quite unnoticed, and we went to San Juan, where we stayed at the El Convento hotel. This hotel is simply amazing. The oldest hotel of all historical hotels in the United States, it does not seem old at all, but it really feels like antiquity … five-meter ceilings, massive carved wooden doors, a courtyard with flowering trees … two chairs and a table with a candle at each door (where Oleg and I sitting and drinking tea, enjoying the summer night air, looking out of the corner of my eye at the monitor with a sleeping Tiger cub), daily wine and cheese tasting on the roof of the hotel, from where you can see the whole old city . .. I already wanted to return! nine0003

So, we forgot something about Barabek … this is Barabechina going to swim in the pool on the roof of the hotel, and the happy fat man is already after swimming.

Well, enough about the hotel. How about the city itself? We were only in the old part of San Juan (Old San Juan), and we fell in love with this city. Let’s start with these cobblestone bricks… they lined all the streets of the old city. When we entered the city, the taxi driver proudly told us about this brick; said he was special, and we laughed. It turned out that it was really special — these blue-tinted stones were made in Spain, from where they were later brought by ships as ballast — they brought bricks, unloaded and loaded gold. nine0003
The city is very small, you can walk around it in a couple of hours. And so we walked along it for hours, and each time we discovered something new: a beautiful house, a courtyard, a door.

We liked it so much that we decided to buy ourselves this little yellow house.

There are many tourists in the city, mostly Americans. I walked by myself, and Barabek with dad.

In his free time from Barabek, dad studied the map and drew us our new routes (I think if Oleg hadn’t taken an interest in economics, he would have made a good cartographer). nine0003
There are very beautiful statues in San Juan. We saw statues in the same style several times, which we liked very much. And on the last day, quite by accident, we wandered into the house-museum of the sculptor of this beauty. So now we are big fans of Angel Botello.

Since the city used to be a fortress, the entire old part of the city is surrounded by a wall.

It is very safe behind the wall inside the city, but outside the wall there are slums where drug dealers live, and it is better not to go there.

The fortress is very well preserved and you can walk around it… together with the sleeping Lamb. nine0003

The fortress stands on a hill, and kites are flown there during the day on weekends. Unfortunately, we could only see this beauty from a taxi car.
