Same admission ticket for El Morro as well. Less stairs and less people. Great way to also get some history! It’s overlooking plaza colon so you can hit this place up at the end of your day (open slightly later than El Morro). Really hard to catch an Uber in old San Juan and much easier at plaza colon.

My favorite historical site in Old San Juan

This was one of my highlights in Old San Juan. I learned so much from visiting Castillo de San Cristobal. It was one of my favorite places we visited. It is great to spend about 1 hour inside but also spend some time outside as well. There are lots of great areas to see and don’t miss the iguanas!

A Must See

If you are going to Old San Juan, you must visit one of the two forts there. We stopped at Castillo de San Cristobal and was not disappointed. The fee was very reasonable ($10) and you can visit both Old San Juan forts with the purchase of one ticket. The history of the fort is very cool and the views are amazing. Plan on spending at least an hour to see everything.

One of the two large forts in town. Centuries of history. Currently there are no park ranger led programs because of lack of staffing.

Fascinating

Be sure to visit. A great follow up to El Morro. Wear comfortable shoes not flip flops. Lots of climbing and stairs but well worth the exercise.

A highlight for everyone!

This fort was a highlight for everyone in our group. If you’re going to both forts, go to El Moro first; otherwise it might seem like a let-down after this one. Don’t miss the tunnels.

After spending some time at the Castillo San Felipe del Morro we walked over to the Castillo de San Cristobal to enjoy another piece of history. This fort was just as big but slightly younger than it’s counterpart across the way. It offered stunning views of the city and sea and has been well maintained to give the appearance of how it used to look long ago. If you purchase a ticket at the Castillo San Felipe del Morro you can gain entry into this historic site as well. The walk between both forts is short and worth it with beautiful ocean views along the entire walk.

A silent reminder of past glories

San Cristobal fort is actually larger in area than el Morro at the other end of town and it has a layered defensive layout.
Of special interest is the wells in the main square leading to underground cisterns. The restrooms are clean and the water fountains work. On a hot summer’s day, the water is cool and refreshing. The place is worth visiting. The ticket here is good for el Morro too, and vice versa.

Great ocean views and history

Interesting site with a lot of history. You should definitely check it out when visiting Old San Juan. I would prioritize Castillo San Felipe del Morro, but you should also see this as well.

You should take a look at the area of Los Quevedos, where many houses built in the traditional Canarian style have been miraculously preserved.
nine0002 This municipality of 20.66 square kilometers is located in the northern part of Tenerife and borders the municipalities Los Realejos and La Guancha . The highest point of the municipality San Juan de la Rambla is 2000 meters above sea level. Agricultural plantations are scattered along the slope descending to the sea itself. Municipality of San Juan de la Rambla was founded by the Portuguese colonist Martin Rodríguez at the beginning of the 16th century. First, the hermitage San Juan Bautista was built, and then people began to settle in the surroundings, attracted by the fertile lands of this area.
In 1925, King Alfonso XIII granted the municipality the status of a city. One of the biggest attractions of the municipality are its diverse landscapes, ranging from mountainous to coastal.
