  The marina, itself, is the springboard to water activities provided by tour companies…the only reason for a tourist to visit. Like many PR marinas, security is like Fort Knox. Call box. Car and pedestrian gated…security personnel activated. Unfortunately my son’s new waterproof camera Christmas gift was left in shower area and not turned in, casting a pall on the day.

Boat slips and dry stack service marina. Under new ownership. Improvements visible. We just survived the storm of the century with only one vessel lost.

Marina Puerto Chico is located in Fajardo.

Fajardo is situated in the Eastern part of Puerto Rico, neighboring Ceiba and Loquillo. This city is bathed by the waters of the Atlantic Ocean and it is the main settlement of the Fajardo Metropolitan Statistical Area. Due to the fact that it hosts a large port, Fajardo became the central point for touristic development and nowadays it can  boast its many modern hotels, resorts, and facilities that welcome travelers worldwide.

Fajardo was founded in the 18th century and its initial name was Santiago de Fajardo. This was an early settlement of Spanish colonists who came to conquer this rich land which is irrigated by the Fajardo River and the Demajagua River. Fajardo is also called ‘The City of the Rising Sun’ because it is located in the eastern part of the island, hence the place where you can first see the sunrise.

There are numerous beautiful sights to visit and outdoor activities tourists usually engage in like hiking, water sport, berth booking and sailing or diving. The area is a popular destination for those who are passionate about corals. Some of the most extraordinary locations where corals can be admired are the islands Diablo, Palominos, Isla de Ramos, Largo, Ahogado or Icacos.
