Mindoro Island (Philippines) — tours from Moscow for 2022, prices, description and location

  • resort

    Mindoro Island

upcoming tours
Mindoro island

Iridescent underwater landscapes, pristine mountain rainforests, romantic coves and pearly beaches: Mindoro is a protected paradise island, the likes of which are few on Earth. It is also a place of pilgrimage for divers from all over the world: the phenomenal abundance of species of corals, fish and large marine mammals in the glass-clear ocean guarantees an unforgettable adventure. The beauty on land is no less impressive. nine0005

Mindoro lies 150 kilometers from Manila and borders the islands of Luzon to the northeast and Palawan to the southwest. The crescent-shaped island is traversed by an imposing mountain range, where foggy forests full of tropical treasures rise majestically from the mist on the slopes and in the river valleys: centuries-old trees, overgrown with numerous epiphytes, creepers and orchids, border the mysterious jungle paths leading to the mountain peaks. Also, the local beaches are like animated pictures from books. White and golden sand, clear blue water and coconut palms — this is the recipe for a romantic and relaxing holiday. nine0005

Along with secluded lost bays, there are lively beach promenades with gourmet restaurants and cozy cafes. After sunset, you can enjoy freshly caught seafood in the open air and count shooting stars. The island is divided into two provinces, named according to their location — Western (Occidental) and Eastern (Oriental) Mindoro.

Mindoro East The north and east of the island belong to the province of Mindoro East and are considered one of the most beautiful natural landscapes in the Philippines. Countless lonely beaches — a delicate golden hue or snow-white, as if made of powdered sugar — are found along both coasts. Between them are cities slumbering in the sun, such as Puerto Galera and the provincial capital of Calapan. The mountainous, rainforest-covered terrain around the cities is riddled with numerous rivers and is ideal for hikers. Representatives of the Mangian mountain tribe also live here in small villages. nine0005

Puerto Galera

The coastal city of Puerto Galera is located in one of the most beautiful harbors on the planet. Puerto Galera is the pearl of Mindoro, it is famous for its coral reefs rich in marine life. This enchanting coastal area has been protected by the UNESCO Man and the Biosphere Program since 1974. Both beginners and professional divers are waiting for an exciting journey into the world of underwater flora and fauna.

Tamarao Falls

Approximately 15 kilometers from Puerto Galera, the Tamarao Waterfalls fall from a height of 129 meters. Several multi-stage cascades descend from moss-covered rocks at once to a small lake at the foot, which is great for swimming.

Beaches

The beaches around Puerto Galera have long ceased to be the secret routes of Philippine experts. Today, these fabulous bays with palm-lined and soft sandy beaches attract many travelers. Numerous hotels, cottages, restaurants and bars have also opened here in recent years. nine0005

Sabang Beach

Situated in a lively area northeast of Puerto Galera, this beach is ideal for swimming, snorkeling and diving. In addition, as the sun sets, Sabang becomes a favorite meeting place for both locals and travelers: the local cafes, restaurants and bars are popular seven days a week. You can get to Sabang Beach from Puerto Galera in 15 minutes, by jeepney or outrigger canoe.

La Laguna Small Beach

Also deservedly popular is Small La Laguna Beach, directly adjacent to Sabang Beach. It is great for snorkeling. In the evenings, the whole beach turns into one big party, a little less in scope than on the neighboring beach.

Big La Laguna Beach

Big La Laguna Beach is also a favorite spot for snorkelers thanks to the spectacular coral reef that lies right in front of it. Fringing a pretty bay, the beach adjoins the small beach of La Laguna on the west side. The sand here is shining white. nine0005

White Beach

Six kilometers from Puerto Galera, White Beach is a place sun worshipers will love. The wide, fine sandy beach is ideal for relaxing and sunbathing. And, of course, there is also the opportunity to spend the passing day sitting in a cozy beach bar or an exquisite fish restaurant. Those who are looking for peace and solitude will find them in small romantic bays around the White Beach.

Excursions to the underwater kingdom

Mindoro Island is a place of pilgrimage for divers from all over the world, and Puerto Galera is one of the favorite starting points for excursions to the rich underwater world. There are many dive schools and equipment stores here, most of them

in Sabang. Experienced instructors from around the world accompany beginners and pros on exciting tours to the fabulous coral reefs of Puerto Galera. The equipment here also meets international standards, which ensures the safety of diving. nine0009
In Puerto Galera, you can also book a multi-day expedition to Reef Apo, one of the most attractive underwater landscapes on the planet. This impressive 15,800-hectare reef reserve lies between the western coast of Mindoro and the northern tip of the Palawan region. Here, countless fish species, giant bivalves, sea turtles, sharks, mesmerizing manta rays and stingrays leave even the most experienced sport divers in awe. On
in the southwest of the huge Apo Reef, which partially rises above the water surface at low tide, is the island of Apo itself. Its fringing reef also impresses with a variety of marine life and bizarre corals. This reserve is also known for its white sandy beaches and large bird colonies. In addition to companies from Puerto Galera, excursions to Apo Reef are also offered by dive schools on the west coast, for example, in San Jose. nine0005

Mindoro West

Mindoro Occidental is the western province of Mindoro. The coastline full of beautiful landscapes, impressive mountain landscapes, small lakes and pristine river valleys make this area a magnet for travelers. Small coastal islands, such as the enchanted island of Pandan, fringed with white beaches and hidden coves, attract beach lovers. Well, for fans of sports diving and snorkelers, the waters near West Mindoro have reserved spectacular coral reefs. nine0005

Mamburao. Lying in the waters of the South China Sea at the mouth of the Mamburao River, the town of the same name in the north of the west coast is the provincial capital. There is a lively fish market where you can buy freshly caught seafood. Small bays and secluded beaches of the surrounding area are favorite places for country walks.

Lubang Island. Lubang is located north of Mindoro Island. On the western side, near the town of Tagbak, there is a beautiful five-kilometer sandy beach, bordered by coconut palms. nine0005

Cabra Island. Kabra is located southwest of Lubang Island. The sloping shores of this island are strewn with golden sand, and on the east coast there are spectacular rocks and cliffs. In addition to beach lovers who can really relax here, this island is popular with anglers.

Sablayan.
Sablayan is a friendly, tidy town located in Pandan Bay. From the tower of the lighthouse you can clearly see the sea and the beaches surrounding it. Sablayan also organizes trekking tours and motorcycle trips to the mountainous regions of Mindoro. nine0005

Pandan Island. The magical coral island of North Pandan off the coast of Sablayan covers an area of about 30 hectares. Despite its modest size, it has everything that makes a paradise island a paradise: white sand beaches, sky-blue crystal clear water, palm trees and other tropical trees on which hammocks are fixed, and a lovely resort. Those who are tired of lying on the beach simply take a surfboard and go to explore the coral reefs near Pandan Island. nine0005

San Jose. The small town of San Jose in the south of West Mindoro is the gateway to the dive sites of the west coast of Mindoro. A group of islands with paradise beaches and noteworthy reefs are only an hour away by boat. In addition, San Jose is the starting point for excursions to Apo Reef.

Ilin Island. Ilin Island is off the coast of San Jose. It is all strewn with shells, which, along with swimming, makes it tempting to walk along the beach. Many of the inhabitants of the island are shellfish divers. Ilin Island is framed by five magnificent beaches. nine0005

Ambulong Island. Covering an area of 3,000 hectares, Ambulong Island is also located off the coast of San José. Just beyond the magnificent white sand-fringed beaches, variegated coral gardens and underwater caves sprawl — fantastic panoramas for divers and snorkelers. In addition, this island is the starting point for other dive sites in the area: Ilin Point, Baniaga Reef, Ambulong Bank, Dungan Riff, Sardins Riff and, of course, the fantastic Apo Reef.

Mindoro mountain scenery. The breathtaking mountain landscape of Mindoro, with its vast misty forests and gigantic mountain ranges, makes the hearts of wildlife connoisseurs and mountaineers skip a beat. It is also the birthplace of rare species of plants and animals and the habitat of the Mangyan tribe.

Mangyan tribes. Mangyans are friendly and peaceful, at the same time living a very closed and solitary people, thanks to their isolation, they have preserved the traditions and rituals of their ancestors. The Mangian group of peoples includes, among others, the Iraya, Alangan and Tadvanan tribes. For a long time they lived by fishing on the coast, but now their main occupation is agriculture in the mountainous regions. The Mangyans are skilled artisans, making baskets and mats from natural materials, as well as intricate decorations. nine0005

Trekking on Mindoro. The mountain peaks of Mindoro, primarily the third highest mountain in the Philippines, Alcon, reaching 2587 meters into the sky, are the favorite routes of conquerors of heights. Climbing Alcon is a real test, possible only with an experienced guide. The ascent through the primeval tropical rainforest lasts about four days. The reward for conquering Alcón is fantastic views. The starting point for this route is Baco, a city between Puerto Galera and Calapan. There are also trekking tours further south to the Eaglet Bako National Park, a wildlife sanctuary home to the endangered tamarao pygmy buffalo. A little less effort from the traveler will require excursions to Lake Nauhan, a vast inland lake on the east coast. This reserve will be of interest primarily to those who are interested in ornithology. nine0005

Arrival

Puerto Galera can be reached by country road from Manila followed by a ferry ride. First, from the capital, on one of the many scheduled buses, you will need to get to the coastal city of Batangas, located in the south. The trip to the port takes two and a half hours. There are several ferries from Batangas to Puerto Galera every day.

More fun in the Philippines

There is also a connection with Kalapan. From Manila, Mindoro can also be reached by air: after a 45-minute journey, the plane lands in San Jose or Mamburao.

Climate

Mindoro is divided into three climate zones running from west to east. In the west, six months of the year, from December to May, is the dry season. In the center of Mindoro, on a narrow strip from north to south,
dominated by a mild oceanic climate. Precipitation can fall here throughout the year. The east of Mindoro, and therefore most of the eastern province, again has two seasons — a three-month dry period from March to May and a rainy season from July to September. The summer months of March, April and May are also the best time for a dive safari off Apo Reef. nine0005

Accommodation

Mindoro Island has many charming and comfortable hotels and resorts in all price ranges.

Getting around the island

In both parts of Mindoro, multicolored jeeps and tricycles, motorcycles with a side trailer are widespread. The most convenient thing is to just contact the hotel staff when you are planning an excursion.
