Nice Visit to Castillo Serralles
We truly enjoyed our visit to the Castillo! We had a wonderful tour with Natalia, who expertly explained things in Spanish, and in English. We loved examining the architecture and the landscaping and taking in the view from that beautiful vantage point. In addition, we enjoyed delicious piña colada’s on the balcony. I recommend this excursion for anyone interested in architecture, landscaping, and Puerto Rican culture.

Historic, colorful and free
Certainly the most famous edifice in Ponce.
Set on the main town square, leaning on the Cathedral’s back side you cannot miss this striking red and black fire station.
It used to be the first fire station in PR, now converted into a small museum, free to enter. Great photo op and very cool to visit.Review of: Parque de Bombas

A must Go
Isla Caja de Muertos in Ponce is a beautiful beach to enjoy. There is a short ride to the Island, but the sand and the water is the best in the south side of the Island. Very safe to swim or snorkeling. It could get a little crowded during holidays.

All that and a cup of coffee
This was my first (of hopefully many) Por La Naturaleza tours, and it did not disappoint. I grew up in a town nearby and traveled that stretch of road many times as a young kid, not knowing at all this Hacienda was there. Growing up around cafetales in La isla I got to revisit many childhood memories by exploring the Hacienda and doing the tour. The Fideicomiso has done an amazing job restoring and up keeping the estate, and our guide (I wish I remembered her name!) is a natural story teller, in addition to being knowledgeable about the flora of the area. Getting to see the working corn mill in action after discussing the machinery’s history and it’s functioning was geek-heaven!

Classic Spanish style square with an unusual feature
This is a rectangular main central square seen in almost every town in Latin America.
It’s the meeting point of locals and families with bars and restaurants around it.
Central point of the square occupies the Cathedral like everywhere else, but here the main star is the red/black Ponce fire station leaning on the Cathedral’s back side.
Many benches to sit around to cool in the tree shade and a nice fountain.Review of: Plaza Las Delicias

Beautiful Cathedral in a shade of a fire station
Ponce Cathedral dominates the central square in its light blue Baroque beauty.
It dates back to 18 c with its twin bell towers.
However, despite its grandeur the square’s main star is a red/black fire station located at the Cathedral’s back.Review of: Cathedral of our Lady of Guadaloupe

Very interesting
The majority of the museum is actually closed, because apparently the building still hasn’t been deemed safe by FEMA engineers. But Ronald met us at the door, and although, at first, we really didn’t want a guide, I’m glad we stuck with him. He was a fountain of information about the history of Ponce, and all of Puerto Rico. So much more interesting than I thought it would be. Ronald was a pleasure to talk to. Well worth the time spent, even though most of the exhibits were not accessible.

Excellent overview of a window into the past
I genuinely enjoyed my time. I’m not sure if this is typical or not, but I was led through the museum and the site area by a very enthusiastic guide who is a trained archaeologist. He explained the uses of the plants that form a sort of botanical garden way, as well as the significance of the site and why there aren’t any petroglyphs like are found in another site on the island. He also was quick to dispell myths about how the native pre-contact culture was. All in all, I learned quite a bit. It was all in Spanish, so I don’t know how the experience would be for a non-Spanish speaker. I’m guessing the guide was probably quite fluent in English, but I’m not sure his passion would translate as well.

Kiosks at La Guancha are open!
La Guancha was open on the Saturday afternoon that we went. Because the boardwalk is still closed (due to hurricane damage, maybe???), the kiosks have moved next to the park and also at the dead end where the restaurant is. Most of the kiosks are selling drinks (I got a Big Gulp of mojito, unintentionally, ooops! I didn’t complain lol), and some good empanadas of shrimp and beef. At the kiosks toward the dead end, we got some pinchos and absolutely delicious shrimp ceviche (at El Patio), a good mango frappe, and some more yummy freshly fried empanadas at Pleasures of the Sea (I wish I had saved some room to try the stuffed tostones and mofongo at Pleasures of the Sea).
It was really hot, but it was lively and fun. Definitely a popular local family hangout.

Very beautiful example of late 19th century/early 20th century homes in Ponce
This house is a great example of the architecture of the time the house was built. It is also a great example of the way well-to-do families lived in Ponce in the late 19th and early 20th centuries.
My only complaint is that the guide did not take us to the very top of the structure, which seems to have a balcony.Review of: Casa Wiechers-Villaronga

Museum free of charge and a Children’s Library!
This is the gubernatorial Foundation/Library of Rafael Hernández-Colón a three term governor of Puerto Rico. A beautiful building in the urban center. There is a very well organized and interesting museum in the second floor depicting the life and achievements of the former governor. There is a separate side entrance to the children’s library where on saturdays they read stories or have crafts and lend books to children. Suitable for children 1-8 years of age. The first floor has a small theatre where documentaries and other films are shown to the public. A reading room with wi-fi and in which you can access any of 5 million historical documents housed and preserved there. They have rooms available to rento for conferences, small weddings and other events. Substantive programs are a leadership program, an oral history archive reading and music programs for children.

Unfortunately, I did not remember the name of the driver. But everything went great. We left the airport — we were immediately met, helped with luggage. Quickly, comfortably on a new car delivered to the place. We checked into the hotel at night. The driver helped to contact the hotel administrator. For which many thanks to him. FAQ
How to find and order a transfer?
In the «From» field of the search form, specify the place of departure, in the «To» field — the destination. You can select the desired city, airport, train station, port and hotel from the drop-down menu or enter the exact address of the place.
Click the «Get prices» button. Select the appropriate transfer class and click «Order» to proceed to the booking.
How long before the trip can I make an order?
The minimum pre-order time depends on the vehicle class.
Journeys in Premium class cars, Premium Minibus 6 pax and multi-seat buses (Minibus 10, 13, 16, 19pax
and Shuttle) must be ordered no later than 24 hours before the trip.
Trips in all other car classes (Micro, Economy, Comfort, Minivan 4 pax, Minibus 7 pax) — no later than
16 hours before the trip.
You can place an urgent order if there is less time left before the trip. We will receive the application, we will try to find a carrier
and notify you if we can provide the service.
How can I check that my order has been accepted?
A confirmation should be sent to the mail indicated during booking — a voucher containing the order number and all data
trips.
If you did not receive a confirmation email, be sure to contact the mail manager
[email protected]. com, phone 8 800 200 3292 or chat.
What should I do if my flight is delayed?
As soon as you become aware that your flight is delayed, please notify the driver by calling the number we
sent to you in advance, or to the Kiwitaxi support manager by mail
[email protected], online chat or call 8 800 200 32 92.
Specify the order number and the new arrival time.
How can I find my driver?
Important: the driver will meet you with a sign on which the name and surname specified in the order will be written.
When departing from the airport, the driver will meet you after passing through passport control and collecting luggage at the exit
from the arrivals area.
When traveling from the hotel, the driver will be waiting for you in the hotel lobby.

How to leave Ponce
You can leave Ponce at:
The last option is the most preferred, and now we will tell you why.
How public transportation from Ponce is inferior to transfer
Drives according to schedule. And it is not always convenient. Some routes stop running at night, some run at long intervals.
Travel with whomever you have and you may not like the company. Transfer — individual transport. You only ride with who you want.
Will take you to the nearest bus stop. Kiwitaxi will take you exactly to the right address.
No compartment for suitcases. The transfer has a trunk. If you have oversized cargo, we will try to find the right transport.
You will have to follow the road because stops are not always announced. The Kiwitaxi driver prepares the best route to the place in advance, so you can relax on the way.
How is a taxi from Ponce inferior to a transfer
Cannot be called in advance. If you are going to the airport or railway station, you will be nervous while looking for a free taxi for fear of missing your flight.
Cannot select vehicle class. It’s easy to do it in Kiwitaxi. On the page with the route, all possible classes of transport are immediately visible.
It is difficult to order a minibus if you are traveling in a large group. There are no problems with this in Kiwitaxi: you can choose transport for a group of 7 to 19 people.
