  We were just there 3 weeks ago. It is a beautiful beach. But the locals do not treat it very well. After a bit to much alcohol they tend to loose track of their trash. I pulled stuff out of the…..

“Un pasito
para a’lante”. Tras décadas de reclamar la transferencia del Balneario de
Boquerón al municipio de Cabo Rojo, el presidente de la Cámara de
Representantes, Carlos ‘Johnny’ Méndez Núñez, se comprometió a viabilizar
la trasferencia de la titularidad a manos del ayuntamiento.

Esto luego
de reunirse con al alcalde de Cabo Rojo, Roberto Ramírez Kurtz, en días
recientes, en torno a la Resolución 376, que ordena al Departamento de Recursos
Naturales y Ambientales (DRNA) a cederle al Municipio de Cabo Rojo, por el
precio nominal de un dólar, la titularidad del Balneario y Centro Vacacional de
Boquerón, incluyendo todas sus instalaciones y edificaciones.

De paso, el
líder cameral dijo que aprovechó para incluir en la medida unas enmiendas para también
hacer la transferencia de los balnearios de Seven Sea en Fajardo y La
Monserrate en Luquillo a sus respectivos ayuntamientos. “Estas playas tienen
potencial de convertirse en ejes económicos para dichos municipios, ayudando
así a mejorar sus finanzas”, comentó Méndez Núñez en un comunicado.

 “Para nosotros es muy importante promover el
desarrollo económico en los municipios, particularmente en sectores de gran
potencial para la creación de nuevos empleos y comercios como son los
balnearios”, dijo.

El
Presidente de la Cámara destacó que a través de la Isla existen un sinnúmero de
balnearios que son administrados por la el DRNA, los cuales en su mayoría,
representan operaciones perdidosas para dicha agencia.

En la reunión, celebrada en la oficina del Presidente de la
Cámara, también estuvo presente el representante Carlos Bianchi Angleró, autor,
junto al representante Ángel Matos García, de la medida.

“Siempre he fomentado el desarrollo económico de los
municipios. Siempre he procurado buscar que balnearios como los que mencione
pasen a manos de los municipios. Esto es una alternativa real y viable para
lograr el despunte de una serie de facilidades que no han sido desarrolladas a
su plenitud por la falta de recursos del gobierno estatal”, agregó el
Presidente de la Cámara.

Centro Vacacional de Boquerón es el más grande dentro del
Programa de Parques Nacionales. Dicha facilidad cuenta con unas 294 unidades
para hospedaje, entre cabañas y villas.

Se espera
que la medida, junto con las mencionadas enmiendas, se pueda bajar a votación
en el hemiciclo cameral en los próximos días.
