Te cansaste de buscar la receta de mavi por que no tenía el famoso y misterioso ingrediente llamado «el pie». No busques mas. Esta receta «te» explica que es el «pie» de mavi y como prepararlo en tan solo 4 pasos. Para preparar esta bebida, le recomendamos que lo haga en la mañana de un día soleado, ya que necesitará el calor del sol para el proceso de fermentación.
¿Que es el pie de mavi?
El pie de mavi no es nada mas ni nada menos que un té fuerte, a base del ingrediente principal, con o sin otras especias. Esta base es la que le dará el sabor a su mavi durante el proceso de fermentation. En esta receta explicamos en los pasos 1, 2, 3 y 4 como preparar el «pie» usando la corteza del arbol de mavi junto a otras especias.
Ingredientes
- 1 onza de corteza de árbol de mavi (cáscara de mavi)
- 1 onza de jengibre fresco (pelado)
- 1 onza de cáscara de china (seca)
- 1 palito de canela entera
- 1 ½ taza de agua + 12 tazas de agua (separadas)
- 2 ½ tazas de azúcar blanca
- 2 ½ tazas de azúcar morena
- Botellas plásticas o de cristal (preferiblemente galones con sus tapas)
- Pedazos de tela para usar como tapón y/o respiradero de fermentación.
- Bandas elásticas para sostener la tela en la apertura de la botella.
NOTA: Si no consigue tela y bandas elásticas para usar como respiradero, le recomendamos hacer un orificio en la tapa o tapón original de la botella para que la espuma que expande en el proceso de fermentación pueda salir fácilmente.
Procedimiento
- En una cacerola, mezcla la cáscara de mavi, jengibre, cáscara de china, palito de canela y 1 ½ taza de agua.
- Hierve por 5 minutos a fuego alto. Esto creará un té o «pie» que se usara como base de la bebida.
- Apaga el fuego.
- Pasa el té por un colador y deja que se enfríe.
- En un envase grande, añade 12 tazas de agua, la azucar blanca y la azucar morena.
- Mezcla bien hasta que la azucar disuelva bastante.
- Añade el té que hiciste anteriormente mezcla bien hasta que forme espuma.
- Vierte el maví en las botella plasticas. Asegura que el líquido llegue hasta el tope de la botella.
- Para cada botella hacer un tapón usando un pedazo de tela.
- Amarrar la tela con las bandas elásticas.
- Deje las botellas fermentar en el sol por 6 a 8 horas.
- La espuma en la botella comenzará a subir. Esto indica que el mavi esta fermentando correctamente.
- Cuando la espuma sobresalga por el tapón de tela (como en la foto) entonces ya puede enfriar el mavi y estará listo para servir y tomar bien friiiiiooooo.
OJO: El mabí o maví no es solo popular en Puerto Rico.
