ESCUDO
(Simbolismo)
Segundo Cuartel: El segundo
BANDERA

With the beginning of the Soviet-German war, “Bandera” immediately supported the power of the Third Reich? — Likbez
Myth
With the beginning of the Soviet-German war “Bandera” immediately supported the power of the Third Reich.
Historical reality
Members of the “Organization of Ukrainian Nationalists (Revolutionary)” (OUN(r) or OUN(Bandera) after the head of the faction) attempt to proclaim the Ukrainian state 30 June 1941 ended with the conclusion of S. Bandera and his associates in the Sachsenhausen concentration camp.
Head of the OUN(b) Stepan Bandrea
After June 22, 1941, the “OUN” did the same as in September 1939: in the conditions of war between states hostile to them, they tried to establish their power and proclaim the independence of Ukraine . Accordingly, the plan of this uprising was in no way coordinated with the military plans of Germany, the “Banderites” simply took advantage of the situation of the outbreak of war between two great tyrannies. nine0006
In 1939, the Poles retreated, now the Soviet army. Germany’s position on the “Ukrainian issue” was uncertain – they thought that Berlin could be confronted with a fait accompli.
The leadership of the OUN of Bandera outlined its position in a very impudently washed away memorandum to the Reich Chancellery dated June 23, 1941.
cities of Galicia and Volhynia. “OUN” established power in 187 out of 200 districts of Western Ukrainian regions, in 26 districts of Right-Bank Ukraine, created six regional administrations. However, neither the German official authorities, nor the Wehrmacht units recognized the Ukrainian administration.
Lvivians in anticipation of the proclamation of the “Act on the Restoration of Ukrainian Statehood” (June 30, 1941)
April 1941 g. Based on the circumstances, it was argued that it would be allied to Germany. However, the latter, as it turned out, did not need Ukrainian allies then. On July 3, 1941, Stepan Bandera and a number of Ukrainian politicians were summoned to the Gestapo, where they demanded that the declaration be withdrawn. After the refusal, on July 5, 1941, some of the leaders of the OUN (b) in Krakow were arrested, and Bandera was forced to leave for Berlin, where he was placed under house arrest. On July 12, 1941, J. Stetsko was arrested in Lvov.
1 August 1941, the Nazis officially announced the inclusion of Galicia as a separate district in the General Governorate created from most of the former lands of the Polish state, which meant the final decision of Berlin not to support the creation of even a puppet Ukrainian state.
Deputy head of the OUN(b) Yaroslav Stetsko
On August 3, 1941, S. Bandera and Ya. Stetsko, who were arrested, filed written protests against the dismemberment of Ukraine. The OUN(b) made an attempt to collect signatures from the population demanding the repeal of the decree on the accession of Galicia to the General Government, and also organized several demonstrations in defense of the June 30 Act. In response, the Nazis decided to launch mass repressions against the “Bandera”. nine0006
On August 5, 1941, the arrests of “wandering agitators of the Bandera group” began, and on September 5–15, 1941, arrests of OUN (b) leaders who had shown themselves since the beginning of the war were carried out throughout the territory of the German-occupied Ukraine, the victims of which were 80% of the leading organization personnel. By the end of 1941, the Gestapo had arrested over 1,500 more Bandera activists. The OUN(b) was seriously disorganized.
Main entrance to the Sachsenhausen concentration camp
S. Bandera and J. Stetsko 15 September 191941 was transferred from house arrest to a Berlin prison, and in January 1942 to the Sachsenhausen concentration camp, where they stayed until liberation by American troops in 1944. Subsequently, hundreds of other OUN members ended up in concentration camps.
Yes, Bandera himself was in a concentration camp under special conditions in a separate block for “political persons” in solitary confinement. But, firstly, from the camp he could no longer fully lead the OUN (b), and secondly, many of the arrested “OUN” disappeared in German concentration camps, including two of the three Bandera brothers (the third was also killed by the Germans, but somewhere in the occupied territory). nine0006
You can read documents about the anti-German activities of Ukrainian nationalists in 1941 (and not even in Galicia, but, for example, in the Dnepropetrovsk region) on the website of the Russian Foreign Ministry (link), where, as we see, Russians rarely read what published for them.

Unidentified people desecrated the grave of the leader of Ukrainian nationalists in the first half of the 20th century, Stepan Bandera, in Munich, the State Security Commissariat will investigate this case, radio station Bayerischer Rundfunk reports citing the city police.
According to law enforcement officers, unknown people painted the grave at about 11 am on Saturday. Social media users who visited the memorial after that published photos showing that the entire monument on the grave was painted with symbols using purple paint from a spray can, Bandera’s name was also painted over. Later, photographs of the covered monument with police tape circulated. nine0006
Stepan Bandera is one of the leaders of the Organization of Ukrainian Nationalists (OUN, recognized as extremist in Russia and banned), as well as one of the initiators of the creation of the Ukrainian Insurgent Army (UPA, also recognized as extremist and banned). He collaborated with German military intelligence after the German invasion of Poland, and after disagreements with the Nazis, he was arrested by them.
He was imprisoned in Berlin, and after his release he moved to Munich, where in 1959 he was killed by a KGB agent. He was buried at the Waldfriedhof Cemetery in Munich.
