Caribbean Weather in March: Climate Chart
By Scott S. Bateman © Caribeez.com
Temperatures for March Caribbean weather. © 2022 Scott S. Bateman |
Caribbean weather in March offers one of the best times of the year for island vacations because of warming temperatures and low risk of rain.
Most destinations have an average daytime temperature during the month in the low to mid 80s Fahrenheit and upper 20s Celsius. These high temperatures usually peak in early to mid afternoon.
The average nighttime temperatures range in the low to mid 70s Fahrenheit or lower 20s Celsius, sometimes going even lower.
Water temperatures usually hover about midway the average highs and lows of the day. For the cooler destinations, it is best to wait until afternoon before swimming.
The low risk of rain is another reason why March weather in the Caribbean is appealing for cruise and beach vacationers. Average rainfall in many destinations is only a few inches a month, unlike the annual hurricane season in the fall and late summer. Some destinations then have as much as eight to 10 inches of rain per month.
March also is one of the most popular times to visit the Caribbean for another reason: students and their families on spring break from schools.
All of these weather averages come from historical data of the nations’ government meteorology services.

Western Caribbean Weather in March
March is one of the most popular times of the year to take a western Caribbean cruise because of the warming temperatures and lower risk of rain.
The average high temperature hovers around 85 degrees Fahrenheit or around 29 Celsius for many destinations. Rainfall of two inches or less is common during this dry season.
Two of the most popular western Caribbean islands are Cozumel and Grand Cayman.
The average high temperatures for both islands jump several degrees versus February. Grand Cayman still tends to have cooler nighttime temperatures that may make swimming uncomfortable in the morning.
Both islands have one of the lowest average rainfalls of the year at about one inch apiece.

The northernmost destinations in the eastern region such as the Bahamas have the lowest temperatures.
They are good enough for land activities but are sometimes not good enough for swimming. (Note: The Bahamas are technically not part of the Caribbean but often are included in eastern cruises. )
While some destinations have only one inch of rainfall or less, the eastern Caribbean has the two rainiest locations. They are Dominica and Martinique, which average five inches each.
Both islands receive high amounts of rain throughout the year and are known as eco tourism rather than beach destinations.
Another consideration is the rain days or number of days it rains each month. St. Lucia and St. Maarten have about 14 rain days, which is not unusual for most of the region during the year.
But it’s well above many other places such as Antigua, Dominican Republic and San Juan.
Southern Caribbean
The warmest place in March is Trinidad, which also is the southernmost Caribbean island. It has an average daily high of 90 degrees Celsius. But Trinidad is more expensive and takes longer to reach for northerners.
The ABC islands of Aruba, Bonaire and Curacao have the lowest rainfall in the entire Caribbean. They average well under one inch historically and also have historically warm temperatures compared to most other islands.
One of the Best Times to Go
Caribbean weather in March offers an ideal time to vacation in the Caribbean because of warmth and low rainfall. It is one of the best months of the year in addition to April.
If it is possible to go on a particular week, consider the later part of the month because temperatures will continue to rise as the region heads into the spring.
In addition, consider the more southern locations because they will typically have the warmest temperatures of all.

Weather in Costa Rica by months and climate in Costa Rica.
Winter is the driest time of the year in Costa Rica. And no matter how surprising it may be, frosts even occur in a country with such a warm climate. In December in Costa Rica, the average daytime temperature is +26…+27°С, and the night temperature is about +18…+19°С, while the temperature in different regions of the country can vary dramatically. So, for example, it will be much warmer on the coast (up to + 30 ° C during the day) than on the plateau, where the thermometer can drop to + 10 ° C during the day, and down to -5 ° C at night. In January and February, most of the country the temperature is kept at + 26 … + 28 ° C. Such weather in Costa Rica in winter is favorable for tourist visits.
