Yaiza is a municipality in the province of Las Palmas in the Autonomous Community of the Canary Islands in Spain. It is located in the south of the island of Lanzarote.
The city was very affected by volcanic eruptions at the beginning of XVIII – centuries. The inhabitants then did everything to restore their village, and now it has repeatedly been awarded the title of “the most beautiful village of Lanzarote”.
The name “Yaiza” can also be used as a given name.

The city can be reached from the airport of the island, as well as through the port of Playa Blanca.
History
On the southern outskirts of the municipality of Yaiza, in the area known as ” El Rubicon “, the first European colony in the Canary Islands settled in 1402, and it was from there that the conquest of the archipelago began. The Cathedral of Saint Martial de Limoges is located in this location. This cathedral was destroyed by English pirates in XVI – m century and currently constitutes Femes, the hermitage of St. Martial de Limoges, dedicated to this saint. This diocese was transferred in 1483 to Las Palmas de Gran Canaria (Diocese of the Canaries).
