Hernán Cattáneo ( Hernán Cattáneo ) is an Argentinean progressive house and deep house DJ ^[1] . To date, he is the most famous Latin American DJ, who is one of the twenty best DJs in the world ^{[2] [3]} .

Biography

Hernan Cataño was born and raised in Buenos Aires. Since childhood, he listened to bands such as Simply Red, Level 42, Depeche Mode and New Order. The acquaintance of the future DJ with electronic music took place with a careful study of Billboard magazine. By the way, this magazine was the only source of information available at that time. In 1987, one of his friends visited the Vinylmania store in New York and brought back some Frankie Knuckles, Derrick May and Inner City vinyl records, which finally shaped his taste in music ^[4] .

Career

Hernan became a DJ after returning from the United States of America from a friend and inspired by Chicago house music. In 1996 he became a resident of the Pacha club in Buenos Aires. His performances were a great success. Enan soon began touring clubs in America. In Pacha he played with DJs such as Sasha, John Digweed, Dave Seaman and Paul Oakenfold. The latter was so impressed with Hernan’s skill that he was soon signed to Perfecto Records. And they’ve been touring Europe and the US together since 1997 to 1999. ^[5]

As a DJ with an ever-increasing fan base, he rose to number 22 and then to number 6 in the DJ Mag Top 100 DJs.

In 2009, to celebrate the release of their 50th anniversary album, Renaissance Recordings chose Hernano as the album’s compiler. This album Renaissance: The Masters Series, Part 13 was released in June.
