• El horario!!! Súper importante dicen que tienes que llegar súper temprano por que pides correr el riesgo de que se llene y no puedas entrar!

• Si son aventureros, velen los Gustazos de Explora Multiaventura. No se van a arrepentir, lo recomiendo.

• El río que forma estas cavernas es el tercero más largo del mundo. Ya que estás por acá, visita el cercano radiotelescopio de Arecibo.

• The caves were super beautiful! Loved visiting this place, our guide Eduardo was very helpful and fun. When you leave the cave wait for the sun to pop out in light rays at the entrance.

San Juan, 24 mar (EFE). – El Parque Nacional de las Cavernas del Río Camuy en Puerto Rico, que alberga el tercer río subterráneo más caudaloso del mundo, que ha creado un sistema de cuevas y cavernas único, reabrió este miércoles tras un largo periodo de cierre desde el paso del huracán María por la isla en septiembre de 2017.

Para cumplir con los protocolos establecidos por la orden ejecutiva por la covid-19 y como parte de las medidas de conservación de la reserva natural, las visitas se limitarán a seis grupos de 20 personas por día.

El Parque de las Cavernas del Río Camuy está considerada una de las atracciones más reconocidas de Puerto Rico, por lo que es un recurso primordial para el desarrollo del turismo y de su potencial efecto multiplicador en la actividad económica en la toda la región.

A principios de este año, el gobernador Pedro Pierluisi estableció la reapertura de las instalaciones como parte de las prioridades de su administración.

El director ejecutivo de la Compañía de Turismo de Puerto Rico (CTPR), Carlos Mercado, dijo sobre la apertura que durante los pasados meses se trabajó en alianza con el municipio de Camuy y el Departamento de Recursos Naturales (DRNA) para completar el proceso.

La forma actual de las Cavernas del Río Camuy es resultado de la acción de las aguas subterráneas del río Camuy, responsables de la ampliación del sistema masivo de cavernas que tiene una extensión de 15 kilómetros y sus características la convierten en una de las más atractivas en el mundo.

Las cavernas, además de ser una impresionante belleza y recurso natural, son un recurso turístico que atraía a más de 100.000 visitantes anualmente antes de su cierre en 2017.

Esta es la primera de una serie de reaperturas que estará realizando el Programa de Parques Nacionales de cara a la temporada de verano.

El alcalde de Camuy, Gabriel Hernández, señaló que la reapertura del Parque de las Cavernas es un hecho extraordinario para la ciudad por su atractivo turístico, sobre todo en tiempos en que el turismo interno ha despertado el interés de los residentes de la isla.

Además, subrayó, aumenta la cantidad de turistas en Camuy, incentiva la compra de bienes en comercios locales como restaurantes y artesanos, entre otros servicios. EFE

This special place was declared a natural monument in 1999. A documentary was filmed here about wild animals and omnivorous shrews that have chosen wet places near the river.

How to get to the waterfall Nassimiento – del Rio – Cuervo.

There are three main routes to visit in the park. All of them are well marked and have different levels of difficulty. The most popular among tourists is the route “Nasimiento – del – Rio – Cuervo”. It is 1.5 km long and starts at the main parking lot of the Serranía de Cuenca Natural Park and ends at the source of the Cuervo River. Here, on a special observation deck, you can admire the beautiful cascade of waterfalls, which is considered one of the most beautiful in Spain. The route is accessible for the disabled and is open to visitors at any time of the year absolutely free. From Cuenca to the spring 82 km on the road CM-2104 or CM-2105 and CM-2106 after the exit near the city of Alto de la Vega.
