Surrounded by a lovely park, this lighthouse offers a setting where you can relax and have great views of Domes Beach (a popular surfer’s beach) , Desecheo Island, the sunset, and even whales ( between January and March). You should plan a visit to the Rincon lighthouse park just to enjoy the views. Free parking and no entrance fee. Also we have a xtra large mojito for only $10.00.

A surprising find
Feb 2020
Although this lighthouse has no information and no access, the area is surrounded by beaufiful views and depending on the time of year it is an excellent location to catch some whale watching and some local surfing. Not to far from the beach in case you feel the urge to take a dip or join the locals.

Great place for pictures, surfing, and urban legends.
Jul 2019 • Couples
I remember this place when I was in high school. Rhe place had been abandoned for many years until the government decided to renovate it and created El Faro Park. As a law enforcement officer, I patrol this area almost on a weekly basis. Today 7/10/2019, I stopped for a second to take some pictures as I am patrolling in Rincón.
This beach is beautiful, and being the westernmost part of the island, it assures you the most beautiful sunsets.
Today the park looks clean, could be better? Off course, but since this is a free attraction, I suppose the government don’t want to spend money fixing the few things that are broken.
Still, you will get very nice pictures specially if you come during sunsets.
Could be a great place to have a date with a lady, if the man is a gentleman and does not play reageton on his car radio ( a true gentleman know what I mean).

A Must Visit Place – And, Some History
Mar 2019 • Family
This is an excellent place to visit when you are in the Rincon area. It is basically a park, with small Bohio. This is probably the most western point in Puerto Rico. There are great views of the ocean, Desechato island, Domes Beach to the north and the coast and cliffs towards Maria’s Beach to the south. It is up high on a cliff, so there are great photo opts everywhere. In season (Jan-March) it is a great spot for whale-watching. The 1921 Lighthouse adds to the charm of the park. There are walkways and benches, as well as ramps for wheelchairs – since the parking area is lower than the park proper. They sometimes hold events at the park – music, shows, etc.
When we first came to Rincon in the early ’70s, this area and the Lighthouse were totally overgrown with trees, bushes, etc. The area was sort of a garbage dump, with graffiti over the Lighthouse. Then in the 80’s the mayor of Rincon at the time, Rubin Caro, worked with local officials to create the El Faro park. As time went on it was developed to where it is today, with the landscaping & ammenities. It is a real boon to Rincon, the local people, and of course all the tourists who visit this area.

Great way to spend a Sunday
Feb 2018
We went to Rincon to spend the day last Sunday. We had breakfast at The English Rose enjoying spectacular views and good food. Then we went to El Faro Park, where they were having a VW fair. The park was full and there were many arts and crafts exhibits and great views to enjoy. We bought some beer at a post and enjoyed it seating on a table overlooking the ocean. We also bought lobster empanadas and cheese empanadas. It was a most relaxing couple of hours, and then we moved on to have lunch and then to enjoy a magnificent sunset seating on chairs overlooking the ocean by the Beach House on Route 413. At the end of the day we left with spirits lifted and a happy heart.

Montejo beech forest (Sierra del Rincon) | Tourism Madrid
This Unique Forest 0161 in all Europe and the only Madrid beech forest in Autonomous Region Despite the fact that it is beautiful here at any time of the year, especially bright colors can be admired in autumn. This is an important natural area of global importance, since it is not only part of the Sierra del Rincón Biosphere Reserve , but also a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2017. Here you can make one of the most interesting excursions just an hour and a half from Madrid.
Nature
About 25,000 people visit this scenic spot on the banks of the Jarama River in the north of the Autonomous Region of Madrid every year. On an area of 250 hectares, you can find 833 varieties of flora and 194 representatives of vertebrates, many of which are endemic. Thanks to the most diverse shades of vegetation in autumn, it is especially beautiful here.
According to legend, once upon a time this forest was inhabited by evil spirits and sorceresses who lured guests into their lair with songs in order to turn them into animals. It is not known how true the legend is, but in this beech forest you can find 833 varieties of flora and 194 species of vertebrate representatives of the fauna, including roe deer, wild boars, herons. Impressive beeches over 500 years old and over 20 meters high grow next to century-old oaks, holly, ash trees…
Due to its natural diversity, the Montejo beech forest has become a real “living laboratory” in which, for example, the effects of climate change on Central European beech groves are studied . In addition, various universities conduct research on the natural resources of this unique forest.
Leisure and active recreation areas
There is an equipped leisure area in the forest with tables and sources of drinking water at the entrance. However, visiting the beech grove itself, which is a nature reserve, is limited, free of charge and must be accompanied by professional eco-educators. 50% of the tickets to visit are posted on the site for advance online booking . The remaining 50% of tickets are available on site at the Sierra del Rincón Biosphere Reserve Information Center (Cal. Real 64, Montejo de la Sierra) and are issued on a first-come, first-served basis on the day of the visit, as long as they are available.
An environmental education program offered in the Montejo Beech Forest introduces visitors to the uniqueness of natural and cultural resources and is designed to foster respect for the environment. Throughout the year, various free events are held here along the excursion routes, thanks to which you can learn about the professions related to forestry, or about the secrets of the birds that live here.
Nature tourism should be noted ornithological tourism as observation and recognition of bird species in their natural habitat; celestial tourism , as an opportunity to enjoy clear night skies in Iruela and Puebla de la Sierra thanks to mountain ranges shielding from city lights; photography and landscape tourism places of interest for panoramic photography.
Other travel plans and itineraries
In addition to visiting the beech forest, which has a very beneficial effect on the mood, the Sierra del Rincon has many other offers: you can walk among stone houses, visit ethnographic museums and information sites of beautiful mountain villages Montekho-de la-Sierra , La-Iruela , PREDENA-DR-RINCON , PUEBLA-de-SIERRA and Orcuel-de-La-La-La-Serrara and also take a walk along one of the 20 Green Trails of the Autonomous Region of Madrid or the GR303 route, passing through 5 municipalities.
The official tourist website of the Montejo Beech Forest offers a number of routes in the Sierra de Madrid, including the route along the old road at Horcajuelo and Las Huertas, where you can see perennial specimens of elderberry, ash, maple, willow, as well as the route from De la Soledad to Nazareth a, laid along the hay fields.
Fans of original entertainment are encouraged to sign up for one of the events of the program “ Reconexiónate ” and visit the school of medicinal herbs, walk along thematic ornithological or botanical routes, take part in a mycology master class or take a night or photo tour. It is also one of the best places for stargazing, cycling and horseback riding.
It is noteworthy that local products are very popular due to their high quality and unique taste. Among the local gastronomy, large beans from Montejo, potatoes, “shepherd’s crumbs” and meat from the region stand out. You can taste these dishes in restaurants such as Casa Aldaba (La Iruela), Posada de Orcajuelo (Orcajuelo de la Sierra), Grill Restaurant El Rincón de Lalo (Montejo de la Sierra) or at Restaurant Los Naranjos (Montejo de la Sierra).
