Even though surfing made Rincón famous, it has become a major destination year-round.  Winter is high season for surfers, whale watching and escaping the cold northern winters. In the summer, Rincón relaxes and turns into a sleepy Caribbean village that shows a different personality. The wild surf calms down to create intimate, secluded beaches where snorkeling takes the place of surfing along the lighthouse area beaches. Where is Rincon Beach in the Dominican Republic

What is important to know before visiting Rincon Beach

Locals say that the beach is surrounded by mountains, the highest of which about 2000 m. However, Google maps say that the highest peak in the beach area is 500 meters.

Near Rincon Beach in the Dominican Republic is the Cabo Cabron National Park.

At the entrance to the beach along the Playa Rincon highway, if you turn left, you will come to the mountain river Caño Frio. Its water is fresh and cool. Locals often come here on weekends. There are simple cafes along the river, they cook seafood on the coals, serve rice and fried bananas, as well as a signature Dominican bean sauce. You can rent sun loungers by the river.

However, the Rincon beach itself in this place is often in seaweed.

In the center of the beach, on the contrary, it is clean. But there are no sun loungers or restaurants. It is not necessary to drive a car to the water. The sand is soft and deep, the car runs the risk of loading.

Swimming here is great. But watch out for reverse currents.

If you drive to the right, there will be several restaurants. The cost is the same as in local cafes, but the level of service and maintenance, the menu is an order of magnitude higher.

There are also sun loungers for rent. And a clean beach.
