Gorgeous!!

May 2022

Just a short walk from the Seven Seas Beach. Absolutely beautiful beach area with a shallow, sandy bottom. My favorite beach in PR!

A Truly Hidden Gem

Jul 2021 • Family

Let me begin by saying this beach is completely secluded. There are no bathrooms, shady areas or trash cans of any kind. PLEASE TAKE YOUR TRASH WITH YOU. This place is so beautiful that I almost wanted to wrote a horrible review to keep it as its name describes it. ESCONDIDA. Please don’t ruin it for the rest of us that want to come back.

Now for our trip there. I wish I had prepared better than I did. I made it very clear to my teenage daughter what we were up for, so make sure they bring something that entertains them. Cellphone reception is great there, I highly recommend to bring battery back ups, I wish I had, I could have taken better pictures and videos. Thankfully we brought two bottles of bug spray, if it hadn’t been for it, we would have probably had to leave, as the walk is not pleasant. It is wet and humid, the perfect conditions for mosquito breeding. Another thing, look out for poison ivy, my daughter saved me there, as I had no idea what it looked like. I recommend that each adult brings a backpack with supplies. These are my suggestions:

1. Beach blanket
2. Water shoes are a must.
3. Freeze water bottles the night before for the trip.
4. Snacks (we got subway on our way there, could’ve been easier to enjoy if we had brought another backpack)
5. Sunblock
6. Plenty of bug spray
7. Comfortable walking sneakers
8. MOST IMPORTANT, BRING A GOOD ATTITUDE.

I don’t think towels are necessary, you can easily air dry and avoid the added bulk.

My husband says to bring a beach umbrella but I disagree. I think is best to come light. We saw people with coolers umbrellas and all sorts of things, it made it look like a lot of work. This is an amazing spot, if you are high maintenance don’t go, it is not for you. An important note, I don’t think this beach is for little kiddos, there is some nudity, people go there to get away.

VERY IMPORTANT, do not attempt to swim in Playa Escondida. This is a deadly beach, one of the most dangerous in the Caribbean. Although the water seems tranquil, there are strong and changing rip currents under and people have drown. I sat on the edge and it seemed completely harmless, but as you walk along the edge you can clearly see the changes in depth of the sea floor. When you walk back to Seven Seas beach, you can do all the swimming you want there. Please stay safe.

Escondida means hidden, and it is!

Feb 2020

Just another 15 minutes walk from Playa Colora, or a 3 minutes walk from Seven Seas, you will find this beach that can be yours for the taking. 😉 Not many people go to this beach, but it is a great place to be.

Paradise found

Jan 2020 • Couples

30 minute hike to the left through the jungle. Water much more treacherous to swim in than Seven Seas which is reef protected. But, it looks more like the Atlantic Ocean than what you see at Seven Seas. The beach is secluded and beautiful.

worth the walk

Apr 2019 • Family

We had a great time at this secluded beach, The “hike” there was a mini adventure and made the beach feel more special. The water was so blue and was good for snorkeling and just hanging around throwing the football. We didn’t bring any snacks with us and after our hike back, the warm pastries at the restaurant by Seven Sea beach were so good!

Hike to see a beach worthwhile!

Jan 2019 • Couples

From the western most part of Seven Seas beach you can find the start of a hiking trail that will lead you to Escondida and Colora. We went after a big rain storm and parts of the trails were flooded. The forest is dense and even during day time there was no direct sunlight which made us apprehensive entering “someone else’s territory” (HUGE holes in the sand/ground like crab holes but not tiny or small, more like the size of a large mammal). But we soldiered on and eventually found our way out onto Escondida which is beautiful!!! Definitely worth the unknown 20-30 min adventure hike. Recommend bringing as little as possible unless you want to lung chairs and other stuff with you on the hike. This day was very muddy and slippery so not the best in flip flops but we did it. Beach sand was clean, fine and soft of my tootsies. Very few people there besides us, maybe 10 in total. Some rocky areas good for finding fish with the snorkel. Wish i could have spent more time here and definitely would return!!
