Election Campaigns Continue , presidential candidates are already pursuing political plans and alliances ahead of the May 29th election. With the Center Democratic allied with Federico Gutiérrez and Cesar Gaviria closing the door on the Historical Pact, it now appears that Fajardo is keen to build some alliances for the Centro Esperanza coalition, so he will face fellow candidate Rodolfo Hernandez.

The former mayor of Medellin has already met with Ingrid Betancourt and will now be ready to talk to Rodolfo Hernandez. According to information released by Semana, coalition candidate Centro Esperanza asked him to meet while he was in Europe, and he did so through a mutual friend.

Apparently, Rodolfo Hernandez himself confirmed to the aforementioned media that the meeting of the two politicians will take place on Monday, March 28, in the Colombian capital. However, it is still unknown whether the candidate responded positively to Sergio Fajardo’s request, despite the fact that the meeting place has already been determined and will take place at the Salinas restaurant in northern Bogotá.

Added to all this is a message from Green Alliance Senator Angelica Lozano, who sent an invitation to the presidential candidate via Twitter. Upon arriving from Europe, Hernandez posted a trill that could read “I’m back, did they miss me?” , to which Lozano commented: “Yes! so many! Dear Rodolfo Hernandez, When you have coffee with Sergio Fajardo.”

It should be noted that the relationship between the senator and the former mayor of Bucaramanga is very good . In 2015, he celebrated with a photograph the election of Hernandez as mayor, in 2016 he noted the placement of the flag of the LGBT community in front of the local administration building. In 2020, they met and talked in Bogotá. Weeks later, Rodolfo Hernandez and Angelica Lozano toured the capital of Santander and now, as a candidate, a representative of the Green Alliance repeatedly congratulated him.

It is important to note that, according to the Registrar General of the Nation, 20,785,120 people did not exercise their right to vote in legislative elections, so one of the strategies of the Centro Esperanza coalition is to involve politicians who were not part of the cross-party consultation, as in the case of Rodolfo Hernandez.

According to the YanHaas poll , Rodolfo Hernandez is the third candidate with the highest voting intention among Colombians, reaching 11% , while Sergio Fajardo is in fourth place with 10%. Historical Pact’s Gustavo Petro leads the poll with 37% of the vote, while Colombia’s Federico Gutierrez comes in second with 19%.

The alliance between Sergio Fajardo and Rodolfo Hernández seems somewhat complicated, as the former mayor of Bucaramanga told Semana that he accepted the meeting “because the dialogue is free”. In addition, a few weeks ago he made it clear that he intended go only to the first presidential round.
