Offering a terrace overlooking the Caribbean Sea, El Icaco Tortuguero is located on the beach in Costa Rica’s Tortuguero National Park.
This is a great hotel in a great location–right next to the beach! Of course, you can’t swim in the ocean around Tortuguero, but it was still fabulous to have the ocean right there! You can just step outside in the morning and go for a walk. The hotel is next to a tree where the Great Green Macaws flock and hang out. The hotel is also really quiet at night. The staff are also wonderful–friendly, kind, and helpful. The rooms are comfortable and very clean. The fan works perfectly. I never felt too hot. Showers had hot water. Breakfast was great! For budget travelers, this is a terrific hotel.
Offering a year-round outdoor pool and river views, Los Amigos Jungle is located in Tortuguero in the Limón region, behind the Lycée Barra de Tortuguero.
We loved our stay in that hotel! Especially the staff and the guides were really friendly and helpful. The rooms were clean and have everything you need. The hotel is directly located next to the jungle which is really cool.
Warmly recommendend if you are looking for a perfect stay in Tortuguero.
Surrounded by a large garden, Hostal y Cabinas Tortuguero is located 200 meters from Tortuguero National Park. It features a terrace with hammocks and free Wi-Fi throughout.
Isaac and his friend are amazing hosts. They explained everything to us. We did 3 activities for a deduced price. The canoe tour is a must do! Isaac is really a great guide, he took his time to explain and show us all the amazing wild life. The guided tour at Sam Francisco village is great. The guide was amazing. Note that you can do this activity on your own for a lesser price. We recommend to do it if you have a high travel budget. The third activity we did was the turtle nest observation. This one we do not recommend to do in July because it is too early in the season and you have no guarantee to see a turtle. We waited 2h late at night to unfortunately only a few minutes of the nesting process. If you want to absolutely do this activity, try to plan your trip in August or September as it is the peak of the season. You will have a better chance to see a turtle.
Cabinas Balcon del Mar Tortuguero is just 100 meters from Tortuguero National Park, where guests can go hiking and fishing.
We really enjoyed our stay here. It is right at the beach and close to the national park and about a 5 to 10 Minute walk to the center. The staff was really nice and helpful. There is a laundry service for a good price. The room was clean and if you wish they will clean it for you every day. The shower was good with hot water. There are some hammocks in the front which we found very nice. We definetly recommend this place.
