In this town there is a lot of politics, where the past administration in charge left a lot of havoc. Our mangroves were affected by Hurricane Maria in 2017 and are still in the process of reforestation. on the other hand, it earns 4 stars for our beaches; they are among the best. In the west area are the best beaches in Puerto Rico with its crystal clear waters. In the Plaza de Isabela there are many activities in the evenings almost every day, besides being close to good entertainment, there is also a complete gastronomic variety in our beaches, with restaurants of different concepts.

I was born in another town in Puerto Rico, but I grew up in Isabela. I studied from Kindergarten to High School in this wonderful town. I have witnessed the progress it has had, with the understanding and kindness of its people; which after some difficult times after hurricane Maria we united in progress and worked to improve our areas as a family; this was a time where we disconnected (from technology) to connect (with our people). The best thing about my little town is the desire to better ourselves, since so many years of colonization has been affecting our whole country and every day the cost of living is more expensive; we continue to look out for each other trying to continue our lives here, although each time it is almost impossible for us. Today, living in another part of the island, what I miss the most is visiting its crystal clear waters, taking a walk along the coast and the warmth of the people.

Very friendly and convenient place. Location is key, close to shopping centers, supermarkets and restaurants. Airport is 20mins. away. Best beaches in Puerto Rico. Peaceful and beautiful environment to be yourself.

I absolutely love Isabela. I grew up here and everything is conveniently close. The beaches are breathtaking and the people are lovely. There is never drama or major conflicts to beware of, and it has uncompromisable safety. Like any town, it has its bad parts, but it is nothing to be worried about. I would not change my city for anything in the world and one is so easily accustomed to it that leaving it is very painful.

I have lived in Isabela all of my life and it has been a very beautiful experience. All of my close friends are from Isabela as well so it is very easy to connect and be together. Isabela is a very nice city with beautiful colors, people, and rich history. I would not be the person I am today if it were not for the amazing city I grew up in.

Isabela is a beautiful town, home to some of Puerto Rico’s most beautiful beaches. It is an easy-going town with easy-going people. The people are friendly. Along the years, many new restaurants have opened along the coast of Jobos beach. On to academics, it is near Aguadilla, Puerto Rico, where I attended from kindergarten through high school. (Ramey School, which is a department of defense school)

An amazing twon to live, beachs, shopping mall, cinema, theres a big variation of things to do in Isabela. Ive been living in Isabela for 15 years. And I would not change it.

What I love about Isabela is I get that home feeling. I grew up in Isabela along with my siblings. The anticipation and excitement of family gatherings are so heart warming and they make me feel like I belong. The only thing I would change about my home town is the crime rates. I wish they would drop so that my hometown can finally be at peace so that I can continue to enjoy Isabela’s wonderful culture.

I have lived in Isabela all my life. But I moved a year ago to the city, I lived in the rural area of Isabela. I love the beaches, how close I am to everything. I can hang out with my friends in different places every weekend. The only thing that I would like that they repair are the roads. There are some roads that are not very good and they should fix them again. But overrall Iovr Isabela, Puerto Rico. It is a very popular tourist attraction.

Foreword by Katya Yang, endocrinologist and therapist

If you have autoimmune thyroiditis and you are holding this book, don’t put it back on the shelf. This is your ticket to a healthy life.

Fatigue, weakness, cold extremities, drowsiness, constipation, dry skin, decreased immunity and performance, swelling, earthy complexion, hair loss, overweight, ineffective diets and sports – these are the standard set of complaints with which patients turn to a therapist and , in most cases, receive disappointing answers:

“Well, what do you want, for your age these are typical complaints.

“Try to eat right and not be nervous.” (Because you didn’t know it yourself and didn’t try it.)

“Contact a psychotherapist, you have depression, antidepressants are indicated.”

If you are a little more lucky and are sent to an endocrinologist, he will prescribe laboratory tests for TSH, free T3 and T4, as well as antibodies to thyroglobulin and thyroperoxidase. But in this case, even if the level of antibodies is higher than the reference values, if the TSH value is within the normal range, you may encounter the following answer:

“Wait until hypothyroidism sets in and come for a hormone prescription. An elevated level of antibodies does not mean anything, do not pay attention, they did not need to be taken at all.

Sound familiar, right?

But Hashimoto’s autoimmune thyroiditis is a real scourge of our time, and up to the stage of overt hypothyroidism can poison the quality of life for decades.

At the same time, you will live with the illusion that the body is in order, and all these non-specific complaints are simply related to fatigue and the modern pace of life.

End up wasting time to prevent progression of the condition.

In search of an elixir of health, you will be disillusioned with modern medicine, perhaps try antidepressants or alternative medicine methods, and then receive the coveted prescription of hormone replacement therapy.

But even here you may be disappointed – its lack of effectiveness!

Sounds extremely pessimistic.

“Is there no magic pill?” – you ask.

And as a holistic and personalized endocrinologist, I’ll tell you what it is. And its name is awareness.

First of all, you need to take responsibility for what is happening.

This book will make it much easier for you to understand that Hashimoto’s thyroiditis happened to you for a reason.

This is a collection of causal events in your life, such as:

➧ permanent stress or aggressive stressful events;

➧ improper diet;

➧ violation of the regime of work and rest;

➧ ignoring inflammatory processes, for example, chronic tonsillitis or periodontitis, infection with herpes or Helicobacter pylori, etc.

How often do we postpone a visit to a therapist, dentist, psychologist or simply do not go to bed on time, because there are always more important things to do?

The second difficulty is related to the fact that in Russia at this stage there are few doctors who introduce a holistic approach into practice and have enough time at appointments to explain to patients what this or that complaint is connected with.

It is easier and faster to prescribe hormones.

Therefore, in order to control Hashimoto’s thyroiditis, you will need to study the enemy inside and out on your own.

The third difficulty: you will face the problem of an overabundance of information on the Internet and the difficulty of filtering out the authentic one.

But don’t give up.

Isabella Wentz has written a book for you, a real practical guide to improving life at any stage of the struggle with an autoimmune diagnosis.

Why is this book good?

First of all, the fact that Isabella wrote it through the prism of personal experience.

At 27, she was diagnosed with Hashimoto’s thyroiditis, and the young girl went through all the circles of hell before achieving permanent remission.

“Conventional physicians will insist that there is no way to reduce the autoimmune attack on the gland, but my personal experience and that of my patients, as well as the experience of many functional and integrative clinicians, strongly demonstrates the opposite position,” says Wentz. – When I was diagnosed with autoimmune Hashimoto’s thyroiditis, I had long struggled with chronic fatigue, weight loss, hair loss, irritable bowel syndrome, carpal tunnel syndrome, joint pain, acid reflux, brain fog, chronic cough , multiple allergies, bloating, anxiety, palpitations, pale skin, cold intolerance, acne, and many other symptoms.

I am happy to report that gradually all my symptoms have disappeared. I have a lot of hair on my head, my head itself is full of ideas, and you can’t deny me quick wit. I am happy, healthy, calm and full of energy, and I can finally do what I like.

At the age of 23, Isabella was already a Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) and a certified pharmacologist, which allowed her to accurately assess the impact of both traditional hormonal treatment and nutraceutical correction of the condition. Isabella’s education is classical. In the book you will not find a negation of the dogmas of evidence-based medicine, and the methods of an integrative approach perfectly complement traditional treatment, potentiating its effectiveness, and in some cases eventually lead to the abolition of hormone therapy.

Thousands of patients and followers of Isabella have achieved a stable remission for the diagnosis of “autoimmune thyroiditis” and have significantly improved their quality of life.

I like the author’s reflections: “They will often say: since you have Hashimoto’s autoimmune thyroiditis, you will always have it. This is similar to the following statement: if someone has a urinary tract infection, they will always have it.

But this is not so.

These infections are treated. Of course, you can always pick up another one if the bacteria gets in again. The presence of a urinary tract in women is a risk of infections, just as the presence of a thyroid gland and a genetic predisposition to develop an autoimmune disease is a risk of developing Hashimoto’s.

Of course, just as one can take precautions against urinary tract infections <…>, we are perfectly capable of using targeted strategies to prevent outbreaks of Hashimoto’s. Remember: genes are not destiny.”

Another great news.

You do not need to structure and analyze hundreds of pages of sometimes conflicting information yourself. Several years of research on Hashimoto’s thyroiditis and hypothyroidism, testing methods and tools from my own experience, the author has designed a clear algorithm of actions that is guaranteed to lead you to a point of well-being.

And not only for Hashimoto’s thyroiditis.

You will determine what triggered the disease in your case.

You will create a personalized action plan.

You will be able to stop the progression of the condition.

Even if you are already taking thyroid hormones, but the therapy is ineffective and you still have the characteristic hypothyroid complaints that I described at the beginning, then in the book you will find answers on how to make this therapy more effective and, possibly, reduce the dose of the hormone or stop them at all (it depends on the length of the disease).

Thanks to Isabella’s book, you will identify the hidden causes of thyroid problems, such as:

➧ the condition of the gastrointestinal tract;

➧ condition of the adrenal glands;

➧ deficiency of trace elements and vitamins.

With the help of the author’s recommendations, you will carry out a general cleaning of the body and be able to put things in order in these systems. For example, eliminate the deficiencies of selenium, iron or B vitamins and you will understand that a visit to the endocrinologist can be postponed, because the quality of life has become much better.

Thus, by reading this book, you will save an invaluable resource – time, namely, time is often the decisive factor in order to reverse the disease.

And you will also become a representative of a special category of patients – conscious.

The acquired skills will allow you to potentiate and make effective any therapy prescribed for you, no matter what doctor – fashionable, in demand or a doctor in a city clinic, evidence-based or integrative, a candidate of medical sciences, a professor or a novice intern.

You will clearly understand that your health is in your hands. And it is this awareness that will allow you to choose “your” doctor and get the maximum result in tandem with him, since a personalized approach gives just such an effect from therapy.

Summary

You hold in your hands an amazing tool for managing not only Hashimoto’s thyroiditis, but also your health in general. And I am glad that you are at the very beginning of the journey and you have to learn so much practical information.

After its implementation, the quality of your life will be much better than now.

I am happy that thanks to this book, the community of conscious patients will grow, and this will allow, together with the doctor, to take under strict control such difficult diseases as Hashimoto’s thyroiditis using simple and not so categorical tools as hormone therapy.

Good luck in acquiring effective knowledge for the benefit of your health and the health of loved ones.

“Live Like Young”

Dear Reader

If you have picked up this book, most likely you have health problems, and you suspect that they are somehow related to the thyroid gland. Maybe you’ve just found out that you have an autoimmune disease known as Hashimoto’s thyroiditis and are looking for ways to restore your health. Or maybe you have been taking thyroid medication for many years and heard somewhere that there is another way to improve your well-being, and now you are ready to apply this method.

Many of you are brought here because of a growing list of obscure symptoms that may be caused by a malfunctioning thyroid gland. This list may include hair loss, anxiety, joint pain, intestinal upset, severe fatigue, allergies, and acid reflux (to name a few).

Whatever your history with Hashimoto’s thyroiditis, you’ve come to the right place and I’m here to help you. I suffered from the symptoms of Hashimoto’s thyroiditis for over ten years, and for a good part of that time, I could not even be diagnosed. I understand how frustrating the lack of answers and lack of support from the mainstream medical paradigm can be. I also understand how hard it is to feel that you need to figure everything out on your own.

It wasn’t until I put my pharmaceutical education into practice, dedicated thousands of hours of research, and became my own guinea pig that I was able to create a treatment protocol. I was able to recover and then help thousands of others to improve their health and live happier, more fulfilling lives.

Whatever stage of the journey you are in, I want you to know that you can get better, and you will get better when you take your health into your own hands and change your life. Buying this book is a great first step, and I’m very glad you’re holding it in your hands. Becoming a part of your journey is a great honor for me!

Isabella WENTZ,

PhD, Fellow of the American Society of Clinical Pathology

Foreword

The main guiding principle of this book is: “Genes are not your destiny!” I sincerely believe in him. I tell patients that genes are a loaded weapon, but it’s the environment that pulls the trigger. How you eat, what exercise you get, how you deal with stress, and how much you deal with environmental toxins all influence the formation and progression of chronic disease.

More than 133 million Americans suffer from chronic diseases, and about 20 million of them live with some form of thyroid disease. The symptoms of Hashimoto’s thyroiditis and hypothyroidism are not limited to just a breakdown – they can be a real disaster for health. The thyroid gland determines the speed (and improves activity) of all bodily functions. It affects your mood, skin and hair health, heart function, blood sugar, fertility, body temperature, muscle function, and the hormonal system, especially symptoms associated with PMS and menopause.

When Isabella Wentz, PhD, was first diagnosed with Hashimoto’s thyroiditis, she quickly discovered that there was almost no information available about the recommended lifestyle for the disease. While fighting the disease, she methodically researched and tested treatment protocols and eventually achieved remission. And then she boldly shared her experience with the rest of the world, paving the way for other patients with Hashimoto’s disease. Thousands of patients have read and successfully applied her first book – Hashimotos ‘Thyroiditis: Lifestyle Interventions for Finding and Treating the Root Cause ( Hashimoto’s Thyroiditis: Changing the Root Cause of Hashimoto’s Thyroiditis) and she herself has brought a lot of attention to Hashimoto’s thyroiditis in the medical world by recommending functional medicine methods for treatment.

As a staunch advocate of functional medicine, which deals with the root cause of disease, not just the symptoms, I have become a big fan of Dr. Wentz’s Fundamental Protocol, which will help you get to the root causes of disease by focusing on three key areas.

First, Dr. Wentz’s Liver Strengthening Protocol will help you reduce your toxic load, strengthen your body’s own detox signaling pathways, and become more resilient to the chemical warfare that is constantly going on around us. Environmental toxins can cause thyroid dysfunction and related diseases through inflammation, oxidative stress, and mitochondrial damage. The environment affects the genes. The genetic code itself may not change, but the world around us greatly influences how these genes are expressed. The environment has changed more in the last hundred years than in the entire previous history of mankind. The Liver Strengthening protocol will show you what to do about it. Dr. Wentz will explain how to detoxify your home and food while supporting your natural detox signaling pathways with superfoods, activity, and vitamin supplements that reduce your body’s toxic load.

Second: The Adrenal Restoration Protocol is a step-by-step guide on how to improve thyroid function by rebalancing the adrenal glands. As a Doctor of Functional Medicine, I know that any patient with thyroid dysfunction must deal with the effects of chronic stress and provide adrenal support as part of the healing process. Isabella Wentz teaches you how to become more resilient with the Adrenal Recovery Protocol, which takes patients through the recovery phases of rest, stress and inflammation reduction, blood sugar balance, and key nutrient replenishment.

Finally, the Gut Balance protocol gives patients with Hashimoto’s thyroiditis the tools to help them clear intestinal leaks and restore optimal health. Patients living with irritable bowel syndrome or leaky gut often struggle with debilitating symptoms such as bloating and abdominal pain, diarrhea or constipation. Dr. Wentz suggests strategies similar to those I usually use to manage irritable bowel symptoms and restore healthy digestive function in most of my patients: avoiding overreacting foods, restoring the balance of the intestinal microflora, taking enzymes and nutrients, saturating the intestines.

I also found the innovative research in Advanced Protocols very interesting: it will help patients delay the development of an autoimmune reaction by identifying and eliminating its triggers; not only can you optimize thyroid hormone levels with medication, but you can also repair the thyroid gland itself from damage caused by an autoimmune reaction. Many patients then manage, under the supervision of a doctor, to reduce the dosage of drugs and live a full life.

The Hashimoto Protocol is a great opportunity for both patients and physicians to change the way they treat and recover from Hashimoto’s thyroiditis. By taking a broad approach that addresses the underlying causes of illness, not just suppresses symptoms, Dr. Wentz has paved the way for you to regain your health in the shortest possible time. This book will empower you to truly take your health into your own hands, supporting you with the tools and knowledge you need to heal!

Dr. Wentz reminds patients that under the guidance of a functional medicine doctor, a more proactive approach to the fight against thyroid disease is also possible. Even with autoimmune diseases, remission can be achieved.

Introduction

The name “Hashimoto’s thyroiditis”, at first glance, belongs to some rare, exotic disease. In fact, however, Hashimoto’s disease is the most common autoimmune disease in the United States and worldwide, affecting between 13.4 and 38 percent of the population. Synthetic thyroid hormones were the top-selling drugs in the US from 2014 to 2016, and Hashimoto’s thyroiditis was diagnosed in most of those who have to take thyroid hormones.

The incidence of Hashimoto’s thyroiditis has been increasing with every new decade. It is conservatively estimated that one in five women will develop Hashimoto’s thyroiditis or another thyroid disorder at some point in their lives. Many patients are not even aware of their ailment – either because they did not pass the necessary tests, or because they were simply told that they had a “sluggish” or “inactive” thyroid gland (although in fact they have Hashimoto’s thyroiditis). In general, if you have Hashimoto’s disease or you suspect it in yourself, you are clearly not alone in this.

In Hashimoto’s thyroiditis, the immune system considers the thyroid gland to be a foreign element in the body and launches an immune reaction against it, as if it were a virus, bacterium, or some other pathogen. Autoimmune destruction of the thyroid eventually causes it to no longer produce enough hormones. And this, in turn, leads to hypothyroidism.
