“The rooms were clean and well maintained. The views from the hotel were breathtaking. The hotel is right on the beach with easy access and with adult beverages easily accessible. The restaurant had a great view with a good selection of meals priced fairly.”

“What a great stay at Isla Grand. I admit, I am not a huge beach person but a Isla Grand could change my mind! The resort has everything you would need! There is a gift shop and coffee bar just off the lobby. The pool area is top notch- beautiful. The Windjammer restaurant is wonderful. Great service, great food, great view! The resort is extremely clean and well landscaped.”

“I stayed at Isla Grand Resort for the first time last month, and I can guarantee that it will not be the last. The hotel offers just about everything you could need to enjoy your time there. There are 2 beautiful pools to enjoy if the beach is not your thing, but with the beautiful views from the room it would be hard to resist.

“We stayed a week in an amazing condo! The resort is clean, the staff was over the top friendly and accommodating. The condo was like a home away from home with top of the line appliances and very clean.”

“Our family had a great time at the Isla Grand Resort. Every aspect of the resort was on point: from the beautiful ocean view from our condos, the quality of service from the staff, to the numerous amenities provided. We look forward to spending our next family vacation at the Isla Grand Resort!”

Isla Mujeres (Mexico) – beach vacation in the Caribbean

Here you can buy a premium suitcase EBERHART (USA) and Ricardo Beverly Hills (USA), as well as hand luggage according to airline standards. Delivery in Russia for free! nine0010 Go to suitcase catalog .

The Mexican island of Mujeres – the island of women – is located on the Caribbean coast, less than 8 kilometers from the northern coast of Mexico. The name of the island is related to the goddess of birth and weaving, Iccel, whose numerous statues have been found here. It is one of the most popular islands in the Yucatan Peninsula and the entire coast of Mexico due to the fast and convenient transportation to it.

nine0012
It is recommended to come here for a long time – from a week or more. Nature is amazingly beautiful here. One thing is for sure: the colors that we will see are really beautiful and juicy, as if someone were using Photoshop. Take as much luggage as possible on the road for comfort – a large wheeled suitcase will hold everything you need. Walking around the island is most convenient with a city backpack on your shoulders.

And what is the atmosphere on such an island besieged by tourists, and will we feel like in a Caribbean paradise?
nine0003

Isla Mujeres – attractions and beach

This small island (about 16,000 permanent residents) is very easy to discover in one day, it is only 7.5 km long and about 8 km wide. There are practically no cars on the island (about 130 taxis, 500 golf carts and 1500 scooters). To a large extent, the main modes of transport are golf carts, which far outnumber cars. Most tourists rent them for a day instead of scooters. The rental price is MXN: 250 (per hour), 800 (half day) and 1200 for 24 hours.
nine0003

Playa Norte. This is the beach in the northern part of Isla Mujeres, which is one of the most beautiful beaches in the area. The water here is so shallow that you can walk about 50 meters into the ocean and still be in knee-deep water. The main town on the island is actually a very picturesque and intimate village called “El Centro”.

Calle Hidalgo is the main street with many restaurants, souvenir shops and hotels. All houses are painted in different colors with beautiful frescoes. They were painted in 2014 during Murals For Oceans, a street art festival dedicated to promoting the respect and protection of the endangered whale sharks that annually migrate to Isla Mujeres to prey on plankton.
nine0003

Isla Mujeres – the island of women, turtles and underwater sculptures

The island in pre-Columbian times belonged to the Maya state of Yucatan called Jacob. They worshiped the goddess Ikshel – the patroness of women, the goddess of fertility, birth and medicine. When the Spaniards came here in the 16th century and found unique clay figurines of women, they named it Isla Mujeres or the Island of Women.

To this day, on the southern tip of the island (Punta Sur) is the National Park, a statue depicting the ruins of Iccel and the Maya. It is also the most advanced point in all of Mexico, so the beginning of the Mayan day began here. Isla Mujeres is also home to giant sea turtles that lay their eggs on the island’s beaches from May to September. The eggs are collected and placed in pens at the Turtle Farm to protect them from predators. Depending on the season, we can see hundreds of turtles in the outer tanks. La Tortuga Granja releases turtles into the sea from August to October. There is a small fee of 30 MXN at the entrance that supports this project.
nine0003

The clear water near Isla Mujeres is a great diving spot, with visibility up to 30 meters! That is why one of the most famous museums in the world, the Museum of Underwater Sculpture MUSA, was created here. Created by British sculptor Jason deCaire Taylor, it is home to the largest underwater museum on earth. Thousands of underwater sculptures change over time due to coral growth and the interaction of the sea. Taylor’s intention was to create an environmental project that would attract divers and highlight the deteriorating state – the worst in Mexico – the Manchones Reef. Thus, the MUSA underwater museum today is a place of protection, where the original concrete sculptures have been turned into an artificial reef.
nine0003

How to get to Isla Mujeres

The island is located near Puerto Juarez in Cancun. The first ferry to Isla Mujeres leaves at 5 am and departs every half hour until 9:30 pm and every hour until midnight. The cost of the return ferry from Cancun to Isla Mujeres is currently 300 MXN per adult and the journey only takes 15-20 minutes. The exact timetable for Ultramar ferries. We can also reach the island from the Zona Hotelera from three places: Playa Tortugas, El Embarcadero and Playa Caracol.
nine0003

One thing is certain: we will not be able to find peace and solitude on the island of Mujeres. The island is so crowded with tourists that it is difficult to find an empty piece on the sandy beach. In general, it is not surprising, because it is beautiful here, and everyone wants to see it with their own eyes. However, a very large number of cruise ships and catamarans that moor in close proximity to the beach with loud music and parties on them, intoxicated with unlimited amounts of alcohol, destroy the entire peaceful paradise climate. On the other Mexican island of Holbox, it is much calmer, but Isla Mujeres is definitely suitable for lovers of unbridled fun.
nine0003

The beaches of Isla Mujeres. Hotels with beaches (Isle of Women, Isla Mujeres)

Isla Mujeres (Isle of Women, Isla Mujeres) is a beautiful island with beaches and attractions, which is located in the Caribbean Sea not far from the mainland, for example Kankyna.

Many tourists visit the island on a day trip from Cancun, while others prefer to stay on the island and spend their holidays here. More about the island of Mujeres…

The island has everything you need for a comfortable stay: the historic center, some attractions, the most famous of which is the Underwater Sculpture Museum (MUSA – Museo Subacuático de Arte), as well as places for walking and relaxing, shops, cafes, restaurants and accommodation facilities (hotels, villas, apartments)

The most striking attraction of the island are its beaches, which are among the best on the Caribbean coast of Mexico, have white sand washed by clean and transparent sea waters. nine0003

All beaches on the island are free (free).

The most visited, beautiful and wide beaches of Isla Mujeres, with all the necessary infrastructure and hotels near the beaches, are located in the north end of Italy. There are also narrow beaches on the western side of the island.

The approximate cost of renting two sun loungers and a sun umbrella on the beaches of the Isle of Women is from 200 pesos per hour and from 600 pesos per day. The natural protection from the sun on the beaches are palm trees, under which you can sit on your own towel. nine0003

These beaches are good because waves are rare in these places, since this part of the island is protected from the open ocean by the mainland (nearby Cancun).

Here you can go diving and snorkeling, deep sea fishing, sailing, rowing, canoeing, rent a yacht and go to sea.

The 3rd is predominantly rocky and rocky-sandy coast. nine0003

Beaches on the western side of Muherem Island

On the western side of Isla Mujeres, the beaches are small, mostly narrow and rather modest compared to the northern beaches of the island, but quieter and less crowded. The beaches also have some beach infrastructure, cafes and bars. nine0003
