Best Beaches Around the World (2023 Updated)

Тhere is nothing more enjoyable than a beach vacation.

Soft sand, calm waves, a relaxing swim and all of the colours of the sea or the ocean.

There are countless beautiful beaches across the world just for every taste, and if you started planning your beach trip and do not know where to go, here is a list of the top beaches around the world.

1. Navagio Beach, Greece

Navagio Beach

Only by boat can be reached this small but stunning beach on the Greek island of Zakynthos.

Travel blogs, travellers and websites have continually ranked Navagio Beach as one of the top beaches in Greece.

There is an abandoned ship in the centre of the yellow sand beach.

It is said that the ship has been abandoned after being stranded on the shore due to stormy weather and poor visibility.

The beach, which is encircled by limestone cliffs, has become a favourite destination for people looking to enjoy Greece’s brilliant blue waters.

Navagio Beach is best if you visit it in the late afternoon.

Stay also for the breathtaking sunset, which will stay forever in your memories.

2. Tikehau Island, French Polynesia

Sunset on a beach

This is exactly what paradise looks like.

Tikehau is a small atoll in French Polynesia, where you can find many islets and beaches perfect for your escape from civilization.

According to many, Tikehau is one of the best beach destinations in the world.

Tikehau is ideal for scuba diving and snorkelling due to the calm and crystal clear blue waters of French Polynesia.

The majority of the residents live in its southern part, so much of Tikehau remains practically untouched.

Here you can find pink sand beaches or secluded beaches where you can disconnect from the rest of the world for a while.

3. Bathsheba Beach, Barbados

Bathsheba Beach, Barbados

A Caribbean beach that looks like a postcard.

Bathsheba, located on the northern side of Barbados, is famous for its rocky shore and huge waves.

The beach attracts surfers from all over the world who come to ride the waves, which are suitable mostly for experienced surfers.

However, if you are not experienced enough, do not worry.

Just sit on the beach, relax and do nothing.

Bathsheba is not only a beach, it is a charming fishing village with a botanical garden, community centre and a variety of outdoor activities.

4. La Chiva Beach, Puerto Rico

Soft sand and blue water

A beach worth visiting with soft white sand and clear ocean water is waiting for you.

La Chiva Beach in Vieques, Puerto Rico is without a doubt one of the top beaches in the Caribbean.

The crystal clear water allows you to see colourful fishes and other marine life while snorkelling.

The water gets deeper and more vibrant blue colour as you get further out, so it is not surprising at all that the beach was formerly known as the “Blue Beach.

Visit the nearby Vieques National Wildlife Refuge if you need a break from swimming or sunbathing.

If you want to enjoy the best of the restaurants, bars and fun, go between December and April.

5. Cadlao Island, Philippines

El Nido beach

El Nido, the top location in the Philippines for island hopping, has a number of stunning beaches in the Bacuit Archipelago, including Cadlao Island.

Its crystal clear, calm waters are perfect for swimming and snorkelling, especially the shallow coral gardens of Cadlao lagoon.

For more adventurous water excursions, kayak to and from El Nido’s main beaches.

If you are not an adventurous person, relax in the sand.

6. Playa Biesanz, Costa Rica

Sunset

Visitors rank Playa Biesanz as one of the best beaches in the area and it is unquestionably one of the top beaches for snorkelling.

To get to Playa Biesanz, you will have to hike, but the relaxing atmosphere of this rainforest beach is well worth the effort.

The white sand and the blue waters are ideal for walks or water sports.

The hike to the beach through Manuel Antonio National Park is just as exciting, with monkeys, reptiles and insects you would not see anywhere else.

7. Anse Lazio, Seychelles

Stunning beach

A picture-perfect beach located in Praslin, Seychelles, which is so gorgeous that it looks like something from a dream.

The beach offers fantastic snorkelling in the crystal clear blue waters by the rocky formations at the edges of the beach, while the rest of this piece of paradise offers wonderful rest and relaxation along the palm-lined shore.

The beach can get quite crowded sometimes, but if you remain for the sunset, it will probably be almost empty.

8. Galapagos Beach, Tortuga Bay, Ecuador

Galapagos Islands

The Galapagos Islands, located off the coast of Ecuador, are known for their large animal populations, which include the Galapagos Pink Land Iguana, Galapagos Tortoise, Galapagos Penguin and Blue-Footed Booby.

Tortuga Bay’s beach is excellent for surfing lessons or simply for relaxing on the white sand among the iguanas.

While snorkelling you can see some unique marine life, some of which is only found in the Galapagos.

The hottest period of the year in the Galapagos is between December and May, so plan your visit between June and November if you want to avoid the heat.

9. Lighthouse Beach Park, Florida

Sanibel Lighthouse

The beaches of Florida are worth a visit, especially the Lighthouse Beach on Sanibel Island.

This charming family-friendly beach is a popular destination for collecting seashells, swimming and picnic.

You can also explore the Sanibel Lighthouse, which was built in 1884 and is still operational today.

The pier is another popular attraction at the beach.

People use the pier not only for fishing, but also to enjoy the beautiful sunset views.

According to many, the best time to visit Lighthouse Beach is in the fall or early winter.

10. Waianapanapa Beach, Hawaii

Empty beach

A black sand beach located on Maui’s eastern shores definitely should be put on your bucket list.

Waianapanapa Beach is made up of lava pebbles, which actually give its black look.

The clear blue water of Waianapanapa is ideal for swimming, snorkelling and surfing.

If you want to take a break from these water activities you can simply relax on the black sand.

While you are there, explore the rest of Waianapanapa State Park and do not miss the tide pools that sometimes turn red.

Waianapanapa State Park is also a great place to watch the sunset or sunrise.

Do not forget to check out the hiking trails while you are in the park.

The King’s Highway and the Kipapa O Kihapiilani Trail are two of the best trails in the area.

Paradise: the most beautiful beaches in the world

25 June 2019 |

Olga Zhurkova

No matter how much we love walking along the old streets of Europe, going to museums, mountain tours and ski resorts, the most popular and relaxing for most tired of the rhythm of megacities is a beach holiday. What could be better than stretching out under the shade of a palm tree and watching the waves crash into the white line of the surf? U magazine will tell you about the most beautiful beaches in the world – places that can be compared to paradise.

Parrot Cay, Turks and Caicos

One of the most inaccessible (both because of the territorial location and because of the fabulous local prices) beaches in the world. Here are the private villas of Bruce Willis and Donna Karan. On the coast of this small island, which has one resort (the rest is a private area), you will not meet a soul. The finest sand, the endless expanse of the Atlantic Ocean and the mild climate – all this makes the beach ideal.

El Nido, Palawan, Philippines

It is impossible to single out any one beach in El Nido – there are about fifty of them, and each one is located as if inside a ring of dark-colored limestone mountainous formations. Thanks to the contrast, the water here seems crystal clear, and the sand looks like the first snow – just as fine and snow-white. In addition, El Nido has stunning sunsets that make the heart skip a beat from the contemplation of such beauty.

Matira Beach, Bora Bora, French Polynesia

Remember that very picture from the advertisement of the famous chocolate bar? She is in front of you if you are lucky enough to get to Matira Beach. Silky sand, gently sloping beach line, thanks to which the waters of the Pacific Ocean become transparent turquoise, warm and gentle. The emerald lagoon is sheltered by a thick curtain of palm trees and other tropical plants – with such protection from the sun, neither an umbrella nor a sun lounger is required.

Honokalani Beach, Maui, Hawaii

Tired of idyllic pictures – snow-white sand and clear water? Then your path lies on Honokalani Beach on the Hawaiian island of Maui. Black “sand” is microscopic lava rocks crushed by deep blue ocean waters. A fantastic landscape for lovers of unusual views and photographers.

Gouverneur Bay, St. Barts

Millionaire Island is good in any season, and each of its beaches is a masterpiece of nature. But if you are looking for the best of the best, come to Gouverneur Bay. It is remote from busy roads, there are few tourists and there are no paparazzi (we remember that St. Barth’s is called the Island of Millionaires for a reason!). This is a private area owned by Roman Abramovich. However, by agreement with the owner, you can go to the water through a small shady grove, which will lead you to a quiet picturesque bay.

Honopu Beach, Kauai, Hawaii

Secluded and stunningly beautiful, safely hidden from view by volcanic hills, Honopu Beach deservedly enters the lists not only as one of the most beautiful places on our planet, but also as the cleanest. This is due to the fact that there are almost no tourists here – you can only get to the beach by swimming (no boats, you can rely solely on your own strength!). By the way, the famous Pink Sand Harbor, a beach with pink sand, is also nearby. All in Hawaii!

Whitehaven Beach, Whitesunday, Australia

Another contender for the title of “The Whitest Sand” is the beach with the telling name “Snow-White Skies”, which stretches for seven kilometers. This miracle of nature is under the protection of local authorities – and not only sand, but also the jungle that grows along the entire coast of Whitsunday Island.

La Chiva Beach, Puerto Rico

Previously, this beach, also called Blue, was a closed area – a US military base was located nearby. Apparently, this is why this place still remains quiet, clean and pristinely beautiful – with a many-kilometer surf line consisting of transparent sand and smooth pebbles, clear waters and untouched vegetation.

Best beaches of 2017 | homsk

Start planning your tropical getaway now – Condé Nast Traveler magazine voted these beaches the best of 2017!

20. Tikehau Atoll, French Polynesia

Can’t decide if you want a pink or white sand beach? Head to Tikehau: this small island has both. The beauty of the coast is complemented by the purest azure sea, which is the best suited for snorkeling and scuba diving. In fact, the research team of Jacques-Yves Cousteau claimed that Tikehau has much more fish than other atolls.

19. Dreamland, Bali

This bay on the Bukit Peninsula was “discovered” in the 1970s and has been a favorite spot for surfers ever since due to its amazing waves. Over the past 40 years, Dreamland has grown in popularity, with new resorts popping up all over the place. However, it still maintains a pure surfer feel with its small shops and beachfront cafes like Kelly’s Warung with fresh juices, sandwich rolls and smoothies.

18. Bathsheba, Barbados

The coast is very popular with both photographers and surfers who come here to take a look at the “soup bowl”. This is an amazing natural phenomenon that occurs on Bathsheba when waves break on white sand and huge boulders. Of course, this place is not very suitable for swimming, but it guarantees you bright pictures.

17. Seven Mile Beach, Grand Cayman, Cayman Islands

Despite the name, this beach is only 5.5 miles (8.8 km) long. It is located in the northern part of Grand Cayman and is a public property, which is very convenient: you have the right to freely walk from hotel to hotel, regardless of where you spend the night. In just one walk along Seven Mile Beach, you will have time to dine at a restaurant by the ocean, play volleyball with the locals, ride a jet ski and explore the Semeteri underwater reef.

16. Horseshoe Bay, Bermuda

Horseshoe Bay is one of the most famous beaches in the world, but it still has one secret – Port Royal Bay. There is a fairly shallow sea, which is perfect for families with young children, amazingly soft pink sand and dramatic mountain scenery. The bay can be reached by booking a ride at the nearby horse riding centre.

15. Harbor Island, Bahamas

Located north of Eleuthera Island, the Harbor is never crowded with tourists. Here you will find an exceptionally relaxing holiday among pink sands and palm trees. For the ultimate in pleasure, stroll down Dunmore Street, sample delicious fresh seafood at The Landing and watch the sunset over a cocktail at Beyond the Reef Bar.

14. Blue Beach (La Chiva), Vieques, Puerto Rico

Fine sand and clear blue water make Blue Beach one of the best beaches in the Caribbean. This place is ideal for snorkeling. Explore the underwater depths of the local reef on your own or book a trip with one of the Vieques operators who will show you the most interesting places.

13. Trunk Bay, Saint John, United States Virgin Islands

Trunk Bay – an unusually picturesque Caribbean corner. Located in the northwestern part of the Virgin Islands National Park, this beach is known for its calm clear seas and excellent snorkeling route. Here you can also explore the many hiking trails and “remains” of historic sugarcane plantations.

12. Waipio Valley Beach, Big Island, Hawaii

This is one of the most inaccessible coasts in Hawaii. You will have to walk or drive down a very narrow, steep road to reach your destination, but the beach deserves all the inconvenience along the way. Upon arrival, you will be greeted by amazing landscapes: black volcanic sand, cliffs over 600 m high, dense rainforest and waterfalls gushing straight from the rocks.

11. Parrot Cay, Turks and Caicos

Parrot Cay has become the favorite haunt of celebrities like Bruce Willis and Donna Karan for a reason. The 1,000-acre island is known for its seclusion, accessible only by water. There are only a few private villas and one luxury resort on Parrot Cay. Rest assured: no one will disturb you here!

10. Lindquist Beach, St. Thomas

This white-sand beach with turquoise calm waters will give you a delightful family holiday with swimming, sunbathing and picnicking in the coconut groves or under the sea vines. Lindquist Beach is usually not crowded, but it gets busier on weekends when the locals party on the beach.

9. Orient Bay, Saint Martin

Orient Bay has a lot of advantages. There is white sand, blue sea, a huge number of bars and clubs. The beach is easy to reach: the airport is only 3 km away. In addition, at the southern end of Orient Bay there is a designated area for nudists, where especially brave tourists can go.

8. Treasure Beach, Jamaica

The vast Treasure Beach is divided into several bays, and 4 of them are open to the public. You will be fascinated by the fishing villages located in them, as well as enjoy swimming and snorkeling along the rocky coastline. The place is also attractive for its cultural life, which has flourished thanks to the local community of writers and artists.

7. Matira, Bora Bora, French Polynesia

This is one of the most famous beaches in Tahiti, and its popularity is easy to explain: a 1.5-kilometer strip of snow-white fine sand near the emerald sea surface, surrounded by palm trees and tropical greenery, really looks amazing. In addition, Matira is a public beach. Thus, you do not need to book an expensive room in a luxury hotel to spend your vacation here.

6. Palm Beach, Aruba

The 3-kilometer Palm Beach has everything you need to keep you busy all day long. Try your hand at parasailing or snorkeling, dine at the Pelican Pier bar, and then try your luck at local casinos, restaurants and nightclubs to cheer up after a beach holiday.

5. Redute, St. Lucia

Situated close to the Pigeon Island National Park, Redyut offers breathtaking views of Fort Rodney. What’s more, you’ll find everything you need here, whether you want to windsurf or grab a bite to eat. The beach is within walking distance of the village of Redute Beach and major resorts, yet retains a peaceful atmosphere suitable for a relaxing pastime.

4.

El Nido, Palawan, Philippines

El Nido is rightly called the pearl of the Philippines: there are about 50 beaches here, and it will be really difficult for you to choose one of them! On each you will find dizzying limestone cliffs, the whitest sand you have ever seen, and a dazzling blue sea. What about sunsets? Sunsets in El Nido are simply magical!

3. Sunset Beach, Oahu, Hawaii

This is one of the best places in the world for big wave surfing, but in summer the sea off the coast of Sunset Beach becomes calm, like on the most ordinary lake. At this time of the year, tourists have the chance to enjoy snorkeling to their heart’s content. After spending all day exploring the depths of the sea and lying in the sun, do not write off to the room: Sunset Beach, as its name implies, has amazing sunsets.

2. Honopu, Kauai, Hawaii

Getting to Honopu is just as difficult as getting to Waipio Valley.
