Old Town

The old town is the historical center of Marbella and deserves special attention. On one side is the green park Arroyo de la Repreza, on the other, another Alameda park.

In the old town, the traditional Andalusian building is attractive – small snow-white buildings, the facades of which abound with greenery and flowers. There are narrow and winding streets, numerous shops, restaurants and cafes, bars.

Naranjos Square

This is one of the squares of the Old City and one of the most popular places for tourists. It is also called Orange Square. This is a picturesque place with citrus trees. Local buildings are a magnificent example of the Castilian Renaissance. nine0081

The square features the 19th century Renaissance City Hall and the Ermita de Santiago Chapel, the oldest religious building in the city. It was built in the 15th century. Next to it is another notable object – a fountain of the 16th century.

In the center of the square there is a bust of King Juan Carlos I. Along the perimeter there are many restaurants and cafes, there are benches for rest.

Church of Saint Mary Encarnacion

The temple is also called the Church of Our Lady of the Incarnation. This is one of the tallest and brightest buildings in the Old City. Square of the Holy Christ

It faces the main attraction of this place – the chapel of Santo Cristo de la Vera Cruz of the 15th century. It is a white building with a tiled roof. Golden Mile

This is the name of the long strip on the coast from the western outskirts of Marbella to the port of Puerto Bacchus. The length of the Golden Mile is actually 4 miles (6.4 km). The motorway divides the Golden Mile into 2 parts: all the splendor is located on one half, and the other is still under development.

This attraction is located 6 km southwest of Marbella and is an equipped marina. The port was built half a century ago, today it is the center of expensive shopping centers, restaurants and bars. Celebrities and rich people from all over the world come here.

In addition to them, La Fama Boulevard and two statues deserve attention in this area: the 3-ton rhinoceros of Salvador Dali and the 26-meter bronze La Victoria of Zurab Tsereteli. Roman Villa Rio Verde

Alameda Park

This is one of the central parks and the oldest green area in the city. The territory is small, but very colorful. In the shady park, exotic shrubs and sprawling high plane trees, palm trees and flowers grow, there are many painted and forged benches.

There is a large fountain in the center of the park. On the territory there are children’s attractions, small kiosks with souvenirs, ice cream and various trifles. The park is often used for concerts and city events, and on weekends a small flea market is organized until lunchtime. nine0081

Bonsai Museum

The property is located in the Arroyo de la Repreza park. The museum is small in size, but has almost a century of history. Its pride is the world’s best collection of olive trees and one of the richest collections of bonsai trees in Europe – Japanese, Chinese, Taiwanese. La Concha Mountain

Ruins of the Basilica of San Pedro from Alcantara

This site is an archaeological site from the 6th century. From the center of Marbella, you can get here in 15 minutes.

The basilica was discovered only at the beginning of the last century. This is one of the oldest examples of a Christian church in the Iberian Peninsula.

Roman mine La Mina del Cardenillo

The attraction is especially interesting for active tourists. The mine is located in the foothills of the Sierra Bermeja about half an hour from Marbella. It is copper and was developed by the Romans as early as the 2nd-1st century BC.

More than 6 mines are concentrated in the area from Estepona to Malaga. Not only copper was mined here, but also agate, marble, asbestos, gypsum, jasper, and talc. The chambers and passages of the mines are partially preserved, part is under water, which was previously removed by the Archimedes screw.
