Very beautiful beach, nice for tanning or surfing and just hanging out soaking up some sun. I wouldn’t recommend swimming here. But if your into surfing or sunbathing and sitting in the sand this is the place. A lot of grape trees and almond trees always good to snack on.

Always beautiful! Less populated. However, I advise caution. Deeper water & strong waves. Be careful around rocky areas. Some large rocks are camouflaged by sand and, if not careful, jagged rocks can cut tender feet. That said, it’s our go-to spot on weekends. Less crowds = relaxation w/o loud music. You can actually read a book here and just enjoy the ocean view & sounds.

Rent a car to tour Madeira Island in style
Madeira Airport, also known as Funchal Airport, is an international airport on the island of Madeira, Portugal.
It is 13 km from the city of Funchal. The airport was infamous for its short runway that made landings a little tricky even for expert pilots. However, it was later extended by 200 m.
Pick up from Madeira Airport
So you got off the plane, what’s next? There are several ways to get there from the airport and head to your destination. You can use bus, taxi or car rental. You can take a taxi in front of the arrivals at level 0. Taxis in Madeira run from the meter and all luggage is charged by the piece. There is an airport bus that departs from the airport 11 times every day from 9:45am-9pm.
Buses and taxis can be an inconvenience in several ways. Buses can keep you waiting especially when arriving early. This is where you have to wait until the bus is full so that it can leave. On the other hand, taxis are quite expensive, especially if you are going far from your destination. On top of this they charge per piece on luggage carried. This leaves you with the option of renting a car.
Renting a car will not only save you money, but time too. There are many car rental companies that you can get in touch with and rent a car.
Car parking options at the airport
Madeira Airport has both short and long term parking options. Car park 0 for example allows short-term parking for cars below 3.5 tons. Car park 1 service fee by fractions of 15 minutes. There are other parks like 5, 6 and 7 which are for long term parking. Customers will be allowed to park free of charge for the first 45 minutes.
There are a few traffic rules that you need to keep in mind when driving in Portugal. If you decide to go to a car rental option, take the time to familiarize yourself with some;
- Carry all driving documentation with you at all times
- Drunk driving is strictly prohibited. Alcohol must not exceed 0.5 mg/ml
- Fines to be paid locally
- Child restraint systems are mandatory for children under 12 years of age
