Praise God! We’re here safe and sound. Had a long day yesterday traveling to get here but so glad to be here. Today we travel to the church we’ll be staying at and getting to meet new friends that we’ll be with this week.

The National Institute of Statistics (Spanish: Instituto Nacional de Estadística , INE ) is the official body responsible for the preparation and communication of demographic, economic and social statistics in Spain. The headquarters is in Madrid on the Paseo de la Castellana.

History

B General Narváez, President of the Council of Ministers Isabelle II, signs a decree establishing a commission responsible for the establishment of the general statistics of the Kingdom. Commission that takes the name Junta de Estadística to receives as its first mission the census of Spain.

Decree , taken during the provisional government of General Serrano, creates Geographic Institute ( Instituto Geográfico ), which becomes , Geographic and Statistical Institute Geográfico y Estadístico ).

Decree compiles official statistics and publishes them. The Geographical and Statistical Institute becomes a general administration, and departments are created in the ministries to facilitate its work.

Law (published in the Official Gazette of the State of ) establishes the National Institute of Statistics ( Instituto Nacional de Estadística ), whose task is to prepare already existing demographic, economic and social statistics data, creation of new ones and coordination with statistical offices of provinces and municipalities.
