El popular evento cultural se presentará virtualmente

Están invitados a experimentar el Tercer Anual Mask Alive! Festival de Máscaras, un evento virtual presentado por Cultural Coalition de arte, cultura, y narración el domingo 13 de septiembre del 2020 desde las 2 de la tarde. Para la primera vez en su historia, el evento se presentará en vivo por las plataformas Facebook, IGTV, y YouTube Live. Adultos igual que jóvenes disfrutaran de una colección entretenida de máscaras vistosas que destacan la diversidad cultural del suroeste estadounidense y el poder de la narración mediante del baile, la música, y las presentaciones teatrales.

“Mask Alive! es un testimonio a la diversidad y la expresión cultural viva en nuestra comunidad” dice Zarco Guerrero, el artista radicado en Mesa. Los eventos favoritos de Mask Alive! serán parte del programa virtual incluyendo marionetas gigantes, arte de performance parecido de otro mundo, y cultural compañías de baile, así como nuevos artistas destacados. .

Concurso de diseño de una máscara COVID! Mantenerse Seguro no debe parecer sencillo y conocemos la importancia del arte como terapia. Invitamos al público a subir fotos de sus creaciones artísticas serán presentadas en el Instagram del Cultural Coalition para ser votado durante el programa.

Una de las representaciones culturales que tiene México son las danzas tradicionales y el Festival Nacional de Máscaras Danzantes 2022 busca por segundo año resaltar estos bailes, los cuales tienen como principal característica las máscaras. Por ello, la Secretaría de Turismo busca consolidar este festival como un referente de la difusión y divulgación cultural mexicana, así como la diversificación de la actividad turística en México.

Al ser un evento único en su tipo, al resaltar una de las representaciones culturales mexicanas poco explotadas será uno de los mejores encuentros culturales y turísticos de Veracruz para preservar nuestras raíces. Para lograr esto se escogió al Pueblo Mágico de Coscomatepec de Bravo, por segundo año, para representar y rendir homenaje a las más de 50 danzas típicas mexicanas que hay en el país.

¿Cuándo será el Festival Nacional de Máscaras Danzantes 2022? 

Uno de los Pueblos Mágicos más pintorescos de Veracruz que se encuentra entre dos grandes barrancas, pero que destaca por ser el principal acceso al volcán más alto de México, el Pico de Orizaba. Precisamente en este hermoso lugar se realizará el Festival Nacional de Máscaras Danzantes 2022, para esta segunda edición se realizará del 15 al 18 de diciembre. 

El objetivo del festival es resaltar las danzas tradicionales que utilizan máscaras en México, a partir de un proyecto ciudadano cuyo propósito es la difusión, investigación, rescate, salvaguarda y revaloración del patrimonio que representan las máscaras en el contexto de las danzas tradicionales de nuestro país.

Si te interesas asistir al evento, Jorge Aldana Sánchez, director general del evento reveló que el festival recorrerá las calles de Coscomatepec partiendo desde la Plaza Nicolás Bravo, y durante los cuatro días se congregaron más de 50 danzas tradicionales de 14 estados representativos. 

Al mismo tiempo se espera la participación de mil 500 danzantes de todo el país, acompañados de más de 400 músicos tradicionales, más de 200 mascareros y cientos de expositores en una fiesta de color y tradición, a lo largo de 6 mil metros lineales en el primer cuadro de la localidad.  Puedes encontrar pabellones de máscaras, artesanales, gastronómicos y turísticos, así como talleres de elaboración de máscaras, conferencias magistrales, etc.

A good mascara has other characteristics as well.

3. Even application. The mascara should spread easily and evenly over the lashes. Usually, voluminous carcasses suffer from the “spider legs” effect, which contains a large number of wax granules and a very small percentage of the components that are responsible for distribution.

There are several classifications of mascara. Here are some of them:

By effect:
Lengthening: It contains special fibers (nylon or silk) that seem to build up eyelashes. The consistency of such mascaras is usually more liquid, as there is usually a smaller percentage of wax in the composition. It is applied in 2 doses with an interval of 2-3 minutes. nine0003

Curling effect: This mascara contains the maximum percentage of film formers and stabilizers. Such mascara instantly dries on the eyelashes, and a special brush fixes the eyelashes in the desired position. nine0003

There are also carcasses “waterproof”, i. e. waterproof . Now this concept is very blurry, since good mascaras are already made with the expectation that it is not washed off from tears and rain. But there are also carcasses with which you can easily swim in the pool. Such carcasses practically do not contain water in their composition, it is replaced by volatile silicones, emollients and waxes. It is washed off only with special means.

Now let’s look at the main components for mascara in order to put together a recipe that will work. nine0003

Water. It can be either distilled water or any hydrosol (rose, cornflower, chamomile). Input up to 100% (usually 60-70%).

Film formers. This is the most important ingredient in our mascara. Distributes the pigment over the eyelashes and covers with a film that separates the eyelashes and does not allow the pigment to crumble. The most famous ingredient is acacia gum (gum arabic). Input from 2 – 10%

Thickeners. This group includes all viscosity regulators such as guar and xanthan gums, HEC, CMC and acrylic copolymers. They have good viscosity, but not sufficient plasticity. Input 0.1 to 5%

Emulsifiers. There are no restrictions, you can use almost any familiar emulsifier. Input from 2 -5%.

Structural components. These are vegetable and animal waxes. The most widely used are bee and candelilla. They are responsible for the volume, consistency and heat resistance (i.e. your mascara will be washed off with warm water, not rain or tears). Spermaceti and lanolin also belong to this group. Input from 5–20%

Emollients. Components of the oil phase, which are included in the composition of cosmetic products to soften the skin. These include base oils and other synthetic components, they contribute to a good and even distribution of active ingredients over the surface of the eyelashes, which nourish them and activate natural growth and healing. Improves elasticity. All eyelash care oils are suitable as base oils: castor, broccoli, jojoba, etc. Input from 1 to 70%

Preservatives Handmade mascara must contain a preservative. Choose a good preservative with a wide pH range. Input – 0.1-1% There are quite a lot of preservatives: Optifen +, Fenochem, Cosgard, Microcare, etc.

Pigment. Beautiful eyelashes are black eyelashes. To do this, we need a good cosmetic dye – black iron oxide. Input 10-20%. You can add a little pearlescent pigments up to 1%. nine0003

Water-repellent components – this category includes a wonderful component of hydrophobic silicon dioxide – COVASILIC 15. It promotes volume, ensures shape retention even at high air temperatures. Works as a thickener, repels water, but at the same time rinses off easily. Input 0.5-1%

Active ingredients: any complexes for eyelash care are suitable, as well as the most common actives are: keratin, wheat and silk proteins, vitamin E, D-panthenol, collagen. nine0003

And of course, brush plays an important role. It should be comfortable, evenly distribute mascara over the eyelashes, twist and separate them. And a lot also depends on the correct application.

Now let’s move on to creating the mascara itself.
The initial data are as follows: almost straight, normal length, but very light, almost transparent at the tips, without volume.
Purpose: to create a mascara for daily make-up with good consumer qualities. nine0151

Phase 1:

• Distilled water – 62.2%
• CMC – 0.2%
• Film former – 4.8%

Phase 2:

• Emulsifier – 5%
• Beeswax – 3.5
• Carnauba wax – 2.5
• Candelilla wax – 1.5
• Hydrogenated castor oil – 1.5%
• Broccoli oil – 1%

Phase 3:

• Hydrogenated Keratin – 0. 5%

Phase 4:

• Pigment – 12%
• Distilled water – 3%
• Glycerin – 2%

Phase 5:

• Preservative – approximately 0.3%

Cooking process:

1.
First of all, let’s prepare our pigment. We use a special eye makeup dispersion in our class. It is a natural smooth and glossy intense black paste. It is easy to use, does not require rubbing, does not dust and dries quickly on the eyelashes.
Can be replaced with black iron oxide. It is better to take micronized, it is easier to use.
We just dilute our paste with water and glycerin (additional hydration). We also add keratin to this. nine0003

2.
The aqueous phase contains water and only 2 ingredients, of which the film former is the most important component in order to create high quality ink. Almost all mascara recipes use acacia resin (gum arabic), but after a series of tests, French technologists came to the conclusion that its film does not have good adhesion to the skin and is brittle. In this connection, an innovative product was developed – a natural film former – Natpure Film AP. Which we will use in our recipe. (You can learn more about this component here). We will use phenochem as a preservative. It does not irritate the mucous membranes of the eyes, is effective against bacteria and fungi, and is stable over a wide pH range from 3 to 8. We will add it to our water phase as well, since it dissolves in hot water. nine0151
We place all the components of phase 1 in a heat-resistant glass.

3.
Preparing phase 2.
Anyone can be used as an emulsifier, but we prefer Montanov L. This is a plant-based emulsifier that has a moisturizing effect, and this is a big plus for our mascara. Easy to apply even when using high viscosity components, and we have plenty of them here. And in particular, it works great with recipes in which there are a lot of pigments. Waxes in the amount of 7.5% should add to our mascara hold and light volume. Broccoli oil is a vegetable silicone that has a huge list of health benefits. And a few more words about such a wonderful component as hydrogenated castor oil. Retaining all the properties of castor oil, it is also an emulsifier and surfactant. It will help to easily wash off our mascara with plain warm water.

4.
Now put phases 1 and 2 in a water bath and heat up to 70 C. To make the components disperse faster, stir with a glass rod.

5.
We measure the temperature and as soon as it reaches the desired level, pour phase 1 into phase 2 and stir. Since the volume is small, mixers and other devices are not needed. A glass rod is perfect for this purpose. A few seconds, and a smooth emulsion with a yellowish tint and a pleasant waxy aroma is obtained. nine0003

6.
At this stage, I measure the pH of the emulsion, although these strips are not entirely accurate, but the approximate picture is clear: the pH is neutral, and maybe even a little less.
According to GOST for decorative cosmetics, this indicator should be in the range of 5. 5-8.5. This indicator depends on the value of the lacrimal fluid of our eye, the average value of which is in the range of 6.7-7.3 units.
In principle, you can leave everything as it is, but I decided to slightly level this indicator. To do this, I use triethanolamine, I have a concentration of 85%, for a volume of 10 ml, 1 drop was enough for me. Also, this component increases the effectiveness of preservatives. In the permissible concentration, triethanolamine is absolutely safe, but if you are negative about such components, you can skip this paragraph. nine0003

7.
Continuing to stir, pour in our pigment. The mass is instantly painted in a uniform black color.

8.
The ink is ready. Now it needs to be placed in a special bottle.

Many people have difficulties at this stage, but here everything is also quite simple 🙂
To do this, we need a mascara bottle, a 10 ml syringe and a 1 ml pipette.
