The colonial “core” is the old part of San Juan, where protective structures from pirate raids are still preserved. The central part of the city of Ponce, consisting of squares, churches, beautifully decorated colonial houses, magnificent fountains. The Ponce Art Museum, considered the best in the Caribbean, the Ponce History Museum and the Puerto Rico Music Museum. Tibs Indian Ceremonial Center with its own archaeological site, which is a restored village of the Arawak Indians – the indigenous inhabitants of the Caribbean, destroyed by the Spanish conquerors.

Many local festivals take place throughout the year, including religious processions, games, live performances and tastings of national cuisine. The baseball season runs from November to February.
