Abre exhibición sobre Roberto Clemente en Paseo La Princesa en Viejo San Juan

La Compañía de Turismo de Puerto Rico (CTPR), unió esfuerzos con GFR Media y el equipo de béisbol de los Piratas de Pittsburgh, para exhibir una selección inédita de fotografías y reportajes que muestran la trayectoria y el momento histórico en el deporte del hit 3,000 que ejecutó el gran Roberto Clemente Walker. La exhibición sobre Roberto Clemente ya está disponible al público en el Paseo la Princesa y la sala de exhibiciones Miguel A. Domenech, del Edificio La Princesa de la CTPR, en el Viejo San Juan, como parte de la celebración del 50 aniversario del hit 3,000 de Roberto Clemente.

“En la Compañía de Turismo nos enorgullece unirnos a esta importante celebración y compartir con todo el pueblo de Puerto Rico una exhibición única sobre la vida de nuestro ícono del deporte, Roberto Clemente, y su gran hazaña de alcanzar el hit número 3,000 en el béisbol de las grandes ligas. Con esta exhibición sobre Roberto Clemente rendimos tributo a esta gloria del deporte y fomentamos el desarrollo de dos mercados fundamentales para nuestro destino: el turismo cultural y el turismo deportivo, que a su vez son pilares de nuestra Isla”, indicó el director ejecutivo de la CTPR, Carlos Mercado Santiago.

“Nosotros en El Nuevo Día estamos felices de la visibilidad que están teniendo estás imágenes que representan una parte importante de la historia del deporte puertorriqueño. Este proyecto ha sido el de una unión con la Compañía de Turismo de Puerto Rico y nos entusiasma la posibilidad de trabajar más iniciativas como esta en el futuro”, indicó Pedro Zorilla.

La exhibición sobre Roberto Clemente muestra fotos publicadas por primera vez, luego de pasar por el proceso de digitalización, como parte de los esfuerzos para revelar contenidos fotográficos del Archivo Histórico del GFR Media. Entre las fotos se encuentra una bitácora visual sobre las incidencias de lo que ocurrió el día en el cual el astro boricua logró conectar su hit número 3,000, además de fotos familiares y su impacto en la memoria del pueblo de Puerto Rico.

La exhibición sobre Roberto Clemente tiene como propósito también rendir un homenaje en vida al fotoperiodista Luis Ramos, quién documentó por 38 años momentos trascendentales en la historia de Puerto Rico, y se destacó por sus fotos exclusivas de Roberto Clemente. Cuenta con una entrevista en vídeo tipo documental donde Ramos cuenta con detalles todo lo vivido ese día en el Three Rivers Stadium de Pittsburg.

El curador de la exhibición sobre Roberto Clemente es Dennis M. Rivera Pichardo, director de fotografía de El Nuevo Día y la instalación diseñada por el Arquitecto y Diseñador Luisel Zayas y Franco Marcano de Formatería.

“Invitamos a toda la ciudadanía a que visite la sala de exhibiciones Miguel A. Domenech, en la Compañía de Turismo, para que pueda apreciar la excelente exhibición sobre la trayectoria de Roberto Clemente. Además, de ese gran día, del 30 de septiembre de 1972, en el cual ingresó al exclusivo club de inmortales figuras del béisbol que alcanzaron la gran cifra de 3,000 hits. Lo que lo ha catapultado como orgullo y ejemplo del deporte en Puerto Rico y los Estados Unidos”, concluyó el Director Ejecutivo de Turismo.
