The San Juan area in Alicante is one of the most expensive and prestigious. Most often, this area is called by the name of the beach – one of the visiting cards of the city – Playa de San Juan (Playa de San Juan). The area is located in the northern part of the city and borders on El Campello. It got its name from the small municipality of San Juan de Alicante (San Juan de Alicante or, in Valencian, Sant Joan d’Alacant), located some distance from the sea.

In terms of development, quality of housing and prices, Playa de San Juan and San Juan de Alicante are two different worlds, which should be considered when choosing an investment or residence.

San Juan area in Alicante: general information

The average cost per square meter of housing in the Playa de San Juan area at the beginning of 2022 was 2.780 € / m2, and in the municipality of San Juan de Alicante – 1.574 €/m2. The difference is obvious. San Juan de Alicante is similar in terms of building type, class and quality of objects to other urban areas of Alicante (Villafranqueza, Villahermosa, Santa Faz, etc.), but Playa de San Juan is a completely different story: it is on its territory is the most prestigious and luxurious real estate in Alicante.

In terms of amenities, the San Juan area in Alicante is considered almost a reference. It is comfortable to both relax and live here permanently. The infrastructure of the area includes convenient transport interchanges, parks, public and private educational institutions, medical centers, pharmacies, hotels, supermarkets, a golf club, not to mention a wide variety of bars, cafes and restaurants.

Despite the high prices, this urban area leads in terms of demand for real estate. Moreover, it is appreciated by both foreign investors and the Spaniards themselves. An important role here is played by the magnificent sandy beach of Playa de San Juan, which stretches for almost 3 km from south to north and smoothly turns into Playa de Muchavista.

Playa de San Juan in Alicante

Playa de San Juan used to have a different name – Playa de l’Orta, but was renamed. The old name was preserved for a small microdistrict located on a rocky cape, where a lighthouse rises, and from where the beach itself begins.

Not every major resort can boast such a beautiful beach located in the city. As a rule, city beaches are small and busy, and for freedom and comfort you have to travel to the suburbs. However, this rule does not apply to Alicante: the total length of the beaches of Playa de San Juan and Playa de Muchavista is more than 6 km, which allows you to relax with maximum comfort. The beaches annually receive the highest quality ratings – blue flags, and boast their own excellent infrastructure: observation towers, lifeguards on duty during the high season, sports equipment rental, sunbeds and umbrellas, playgrounds, ramps for people with disabilities, etc.

The beach is suitable for families with children, because has a gentle approach and moderate waves. And at the height of the tourist season, the fun begins on the beach: open-air pubs and cafes open, dance classes, yoga and gymnastics are organized.

Infrastructure of the Playa de San Juan area in Alicante

In the area itself and within a radius of 5 km from it there are more than 30 educational institutions, both public and private, designed for children of all ages. Of the private colleges, it is worth mentioning separately Escuela Europea De Alicante – a college founded in 2000 and opened its doors to the first students in September 2002. This is one of the best private educational institutions in the province, paying great attention to foreign languages: Spanish, English, French and German are taught at the school. The European diploma on the successful completion of the course allows college graduates to enter universities in other EU countries.

Also noteworthy is the Colegio Internacional El Valle de Alicante, where the main languages are English, German and Spanish. Upon graduation, graduates can take exams in the Spanish curriculum to obtain a Spanish diploma and enter local universities, or according to an international program for subsequent admission to European universities.

Another attraction in the San Juan area of Alicante is the Alicante Golf. In Spain, this game has long ceased to be associated exclusively with the British: everyone plays it, and Spanish golf clubs top the European ratings. Golf club “Alicante Golf” is considered one of the best clubs not only on the coast, but throughout Spain. The club has a school, a small training field for beginners, as well as a hotel and a great restaurant, Restaurante Petímetre.

In the area there are several large supermarkets, a public clinic, a private medical center Policlínica Maio, a sports club Club Deportivo Arena Alicante. For walking and jogging, the promenade and Parque La Marjal park are the best. Also in the area there are public transport stops, bank offices, pharmacies, shops, veterinary clinics, not to mention numerous bars and restaurants.

Property in the San Juan area of Alicante

In the Playa de San Juan area of Alicante, property for sale from leading property developers. The most interesting objects are located on the first and second lines of the sea. First of all, we are talking about apartments and penthouses in closed residential complexes with swimming pools.
