We are proud of our culinary heritage in Umbria and here at the San Lorenzo we try our very best to uphold the traditional recipes and cooking techniques in the creation of our ever changing menu. The family run San Lorenzo restaurant – located inside the Hotel Clitunno – has been run by the Tomassoni family for 3 generations. Extremely popular with everyone from hotel guests, locals and international tourists we suggest that you book your table early in order to avoid disappointment. Our speciality dishes are follow a seafood theme and indeed the menu is very rich in fish dishes and seafood favourites… if you are unsure what to order why not try our degustation menu or “tasting menu” where you can try a little bit of several dishes.

The ambience is a light- filled dining room and shared comunal terrace with the hotel which looks out onto the square. Our chef is constantly changing the menu in order to provide a gastronomic experience which changes according to the seasons and which produce is most appropriate… you can find traditional Umbrian dishes served together with other not so menu stream choices … authentic Umbrian dishes served with a contemporary twist.

Owner and Chef Giovanna Tomassoni has been a top chef for over 30 years…. Regularly invited to the USA for the Umbrian Food Festival Giovanna’s claim to fame was that she made Michelle Obama her favourite dish – “Strangozzi alla Carbonara” which was made with quail eggs, artichokes and truffle. This event occurred in the “La Spiaggia” restaurant in Chicago (Michelle Obama’s favourite Italian restaurant)… Every year she visits the USA to partecipate and promote Umbrian cuisine in the Spoleto Umbria USA food festival which is held in various locations throughout America.

The American gourmet magazine The Local Palate (www.thelocalpalate.com) asked Giovanna to represent Umbria and Spoleto for the gastronomic event “Toast to Spoleto” in Charleston in the beautiful state of Southern Carolina. The event was hosted by Giulio and Donatella Della Porta owners of the the hidden countrship in Charleston which promotes great food in both Charleston and in Umbria… this mutual food love affair can only benefit both regions and represents a wonderful opportunity for cross country culinary experiences.

The scene in the world of Dublin haute cuisine has expanded rapidly over the past few years. New restaurants such as San Lorenzo’s and The Greenhouse are found in the famous Michelin-starred Chapter One and at Patrick Guilbaud. Head to L’Ecrivain for another Michelin-star French eatery with beautiful decor. If you’re looking for more than a local offering of great vegetarian options, then head to Kinara Kitchen in Ranelagh for fine Pakistani cuisine that offers more than just a must-have one-on-one option for vegetarians. For a more experiential dining experience, check out Forest Avenue, one of the most exciting new entries on the fine dining scene, or the Chef’s Table in Chapter One, where you can enjoy a tasting menu with a special understanding of the cuisine. Gourmet restaurants around the capital have expanded, and while these restaurants are all dedicated to local Irish producers, the nature of the food is becoming more experimental and exciting. These are the places to go if you are looking for a special menu and interaction with the chef, nods to international cuisine and a beautiful setting where a lot of attention to detail is given.

L’Ecrivain has been serving Michelin-starred French style for over 20 years and is still as popular as ever. Led by husband and wife teams Derry and Sally-Anne Clark, L’Ecrivain takes the classic French gastronomic experience to the next level with 6-course and 10-course menus and even a special menu for vegetarians. Their Sommeli re has also been awarded Best Sommeli re and L’Ecrivain works with several small family owned producers to make the wine menu consistent and exclusive. For those looking for a private meal, there are two rooms that can accommodate up to twenty people. Perfect for a business group or large parties.

The Greenhouse heralded a new wave of fine dining in Dublin that opened its doors just a year ago. run by hugely successful chef/restaurateur Eamonn O’Reilly. The aim of this establishment is to offer you a “memorable gastronomic experience” and the lavish menus and settings help to create a lasting impression. Both tasting menus and set menus also offer good value given the level of experience that comes with these meals. Chef Mikael Viljanen once brought those everywhere to his previous restaurant in the West of Ireland, so take the opportunity to enjoy his craft in the capital.

Locks Brasserie is a Michelin-starred restaurant, yet it still remains something of a hidden gem. Situated in green Portobello and Harold’s Cross, Locks specializes in traditional French cuisine with an Irish twist. In the spirit of Frenchness, they also open later so you can enjoy dinner at a more European hour. The style of the main dining room is informal, but if you are looking for a more intimate and special experience, there are private dining rooms at your disposal. They can be accompanied by a special menu from the chef, who will offer you culinary specialties. travel in France.

The cocktail bar is led by Paul Lambert, owner of secret Dublin bar The Blind Pig, and his focus on alcoholic excellence is evident in his blend of classics and inventive new drinks. Kinara started as a single restaurant in Dublin’s northern suburb of Clontarf, whose success has spawned two more establishments, including Kinara Kitchen in Ranelagh. Once you taste the food, you’ll understand why it’s a delicate yet flavorful cuisine that doesn’t play on the overwhelming nature of Indian and Pakistani cuisine. 3 course early menu for 19£.95 is an absolute steal.

Set in the opulent setting of Dublin Mansion on Dawson Street, the Fire was built in what used to be the Lord Mayor’s Dining Room and is now a magnificent space with stained glass windows and vaulted ceilings. All dishes are locally produced and cooked to a high standard with a good mix of meat, vegetarian options and seafood – a signature dish of huge shrimp appetizers. There is also a special steak menu with different varieties of centuries, marinated beef, which are sure to give the meat lover delicious water. Pair it with melt-in-your-mouth desserts and you’ll be pleased.

San Lorenzo is in one of the city’s best Italian spots, lacking the cozy country style that is the usual hallmark of Italian restaurants. The goal is contemporary cuisine that combines classic Italian ingredients with New York style cooking. The interior is dark with light wooden benches in the stalls. You can just stare at the kitchen while sitting, but when you venture into the single-sex bathroom, you can be overwhelmed by the spectacle of a culinary gaze. The food uses great ingredients to create premium versions of some classics such as chicken cacciatore, bruschetta and pannacotta. Local producers supply high quality meat and fish, and the wine list is also excellent. A different and more interesting take on your regular Italian.

Patrick Guilbaud’s certainly has the reputation of being the best Irish restaurant with only two Michelin star cuisine in our country. If your bag is all about opulence and fine dining to the extreme, be sure to try the blend of modern Irish, French and classic roots. Guilbaud’s has been at the center of Irish cuisine for thirty years and is an institution of sorts. Expect the level of quality to match the prices, but you won’t be disappointed, this is by far the most essential Dublin dining experience. With dishes like lobster ravioli, Challans lacquered duck, farmhouse French and Irish cheese, you’ll be stuffed with the best money can buy and will no doubt want to repeat the experience.

Forest Avenue is the newest addition to this list, having appeared on Sussex Terrace next to the Grand Canal in November 2013. John and Sandy Wyer, who previously spent time in the kitchens of L’Ecrivain, are one of the most Dublin couples. exciting gourmet restaurants over the past few years. Forest Avenue is a “neighborhood eatery” with a focus on contemporary tasting menus that are more affordable than many of their downtown counterparts. A place with 100 years of history. The place is famous for spaghetti carbonara. The average price for spaghetti is €6-7 (€12 for the most exquisite pasta – with artichokes and with lamb). Order here also Jewish artichokes, Roman oxtails and, of course, homemade wine. The feature of the restaurant is the scribbled walls. You can also leave your wish. Write your names in a heart or climb up to the ceiling and paint a big picture.

You must go to this restaurant for a unique family atmosphere. The owner in the hall pays attention to all the guests, raises toasts to those present, asks where they came from. We only ordered drinks and an Antipasto Misto appetizer (we paid 20 euros for everything), but we rolled out of the restaurant because we got on a holiday and were treated to a plate of prosciutto, a birthday cake, champagne and limoncello.

Everything here – from cream soup with shrimp and porcini mushrooms to lamb thigh with artichokes and new potatoes – testifies to the culinary talents of chef Heinz Beck, to whom, in fact, the restaurant owes its three stars. Mediterranean dishes on the a la carte menu cost 45-75 EUR, desserts – 26-32 EUR, tasting set of 10 dishes – 245 EUR. And that doesn’t include the cost of drinks. Expensive? Of course! Nevertheless, a table at La Pergola must be booked 2-3 months in advance.

The only “loser” is the cosmopolitan restaurant Il Pagliaccio (official site in English). The 10-course tasting menu (EUR 170 per person, excluding alcohol) by world-traveled chef Anthony Genovese combines the best of European and Oriental cuisine. His signature dish is lobster with Italian stracchino cheese and passion fruit. A couple more compliments from the chef rely on the menu. But all portions are “Michelin”, that is, small, so do not be afraid of overeating. For lunch, you can choose a light three-course option for 75 EUR.

Acquolina Hostaria in Roma is a very popular one-star restaurant specializing in classic and innovative fish and seafood dishes (Via Antonio Serra, 60). It has a beautiful elegant interior, a spacious terrace, an excellent selection of wines, and a relaxed atmosphere. Tasting set – 75-95 EUR (without alcohol). However, it is worth coming here at least for the carbonara di mare pasta, the best in Rome.
