Historic sites Definition | Law Insider

means any real property, man-made structure,
means a sign of any size, colour and type prescribed or authorised under, or having effect as though prescribed or authorised under Section 64 of the Act of 1984
means any prehistoric or historic site, district, building, object, or other real or personal property of historical, architectural, or archaeological value, and folklife resources. These properties or resources may include, but are not limited to, monuments, memorials, Indian habitations, ceremonial sites, abandoned settlements, sunken or abandoned ships, engineering works, treasure trove, artifacts, or other objects with intrinsic historical or archaeological value, or any part thereof, relating to the history, government, and culture of Florida.
means any structure that is:
means piping, pumps, conduits, and any other equipment necessary to collect and transport the flow of surface water run-off resulting from precipitation, or domestic, commercial, or industrial wastewater to and from retention areas or any areas where treatment is designated to occur. The collection of storm water and wastewater does not include treatment except where incidental to conveyance.
means each of the activities of the Licensee connected
means the Contractor’s system or systems for managing and controlling Government property.
means a building, including its structural components, that is located in this state and that is either individually listed on the national register of historic places under 16 U.S.C. 470a, located in a registered historic district, and certified by the state historic preservation officer as being of historic significance to the district, or is individually listed as an historic landmark designated by a local government certified under 16 U.S.C. 470a(c).
means a publicly or privately owned historic building, structure, site, object, feature, or open space located within an historic district designated by the national register of historic places, the state register of historic sites, or a local unit acting under the local historic districts act, 1970 PA 169, MCL 399. 201 to 399.215, or that is individually listed on the state register of historic sites or national register of historic places, and includes all of the following:
means a systematic approach to managing safety, including the necessary organizational structures, accountabilities, policies and procedures;
means the sewer and pumping system used for the collection and conveyance of domestic, commercial and industrial wastewater; and
means a surface water management system that is designed and constructed or implemented to control discharges which are necessitated by rainfall events, incorporating methods to collect, convey, store, absorb, inhibit, treat, use, or reuse water to prevent or reduce flooding, over drainage, environmental degradation, and water pollution or otherwise affect the quantity and quality of discharges from the system. [Sections 373.403(10) and 403.031(16), F.S.]
means an environmental management system or plan of management to address all environmental risks and to ensure compliance with all Environmental Laws and licences;
or “GIS” means a system designed to capture, store, manipulate, analyze, manage, and present spatial or geographical data.
means information relating to the health status of individuals, health services delivered, the availability of health manpower and facilities, and the use and costs of resources and services to the consumer, except vital records as defined in Section 26-2-2 shall be excluded.
means a set of interrelated or interacting elements (system) for establishing policies and objectives and enabling the objectives to be achieved in an efficient and effective manner.Maximum normal operating pressure
means the carriage by aircraft of persons or property as a common carrier for compensation or hire, or carriage of cargo or mail by aircraft, in air commerce, as defined in 49 U.S.C. § 40102, as amended.
means any equipment, plants,
means the natural or legal persons responsible for ensuring that the requirements of food law are met within the food business under their control;

How are cultural and historical sites connected to health?

To experience the history and culture of a place, it often involves a little exploration. Tourism is a great opportunity to increase physical activity. Many activities at cultural and historical sites involve a lot of walking for guests. Visiting museums, parks, fairs, battlefields, buildings and neighborhoods often adds up to more than 30 minutes of walking exercise. Personal growth and learning also improves mental health.

Why preserve cultural and historical sites?

The heritage of a place is what sets it apart from all other places. Preserving places remembers the past while preparing for the future. Preserving places saves the culture of the persons who came before. Preserving cultural and historical sites has benefits realized over time and not immediate returns. Property developers tend to operate on short term investment gains. Community development invests in longer term successes. Keeping old stuff around reflects a time long ago and remind us people and things were different in the past. Historic preservation is a sign of respect. Culture is a matter of pride. Unique historical and cultural sites give places a sense of identity. Cultural and historical sites and buildings are interesting places that promote tourism.

How can my community preserve and restore sites?

People can do many things to help preserve or restore sites with cultural or historical significance in their communities. A great place to start is to make a list of the names and addresses of important sites for your area. Then some research can go into discovering who owns or operates those sites and perhaps even learn their future intention for the sites. It is important to learn if your community or county has historic or preservation zoning. While zoning is a useful tool, many rural communities still have open zoning. Use signage to create a sense of place that connects your cultural or historical community assets. Sometimes a site has been neglected or the current ownership simply cannot afford repairs. This may be an opportunity to have a fund raiser to raise money to make repairs to change the ownership to a preservation group who will ensure the site remains available to the community for years to come. Many communities have a historical society that can help find both facts and resources.

Why repurpose older buildings?

Repurposing older buildings has numerous benefits. Old buildings often have more unique architectural elements than modern buildings. As some would say, “They don’t make them like they used to.” Older buildings reflect a time period when transportation moved people not cars. Keeping the old design often creates a place that may have some car limitations but is better for people. Buildings with architectural significance attract tourists. Reusing old buildings is better for the environment as less construction and demolition waste ends up in a landfill and fewer materials are manufactured, transported and used. Reusing old buildings often saves time and money, too.

What about the State Capitol?

Our Tennessee State Capitol is a National Historic Landmark. The cornerstone of the State Capitol was laid in 1845 and the building was completed in 1859. It was modeled after a Greek Ionic temple. It is still in use today by the Governor, Senate and House of Representatives. There are several monuments around the Capitol grounds. President James K. Polk is buried onsite. There are statues of Presidents Andrew Johnson and President Andrew Jackson. Visitors will get their exercise walking the many staircases going up Capitol Hill. How do cultural and historical sites support local economies?

Cultural and historical sites have two big things going for them. One is a place of interest to tourists. The other is an “x factor” or a place of special interest to local people. As people stay in a place, they spend money. Cultural and historical sites support jobs like historians, civil engineers, tour guides, hotel staff, transport drivers and restaurant servers. Public Health benefits from preserving the physical infrastructure of historical and cultural sites. Keep in mind when planning and designing new infrastructure, if not preserved lost historical and cultural sites cannot likely be recovered. Cultural and historical sites have also social advantages as a matter of pride for their local community.

For some reason, most of the reviews about the landscape gardening complex, although this particular page is dedicated to the palace. It is worth writing about the beauty and crowdedness of Peterhof parks separately, since getting to both places at once is a task for different times of the year. The park is best in summer. Palace in winter or off-season. In the summer, huge queues to the palace kill, so for several years I only visited the park. But now I decided to come for the November holidays, and got completely out of line on the last tour before closing. Plus, you don’t have to pay to enter the park at this time. nine0603 It’s great when the next group doesn’t rush you from behind, the only one who pushes you is the guide. Of course, after Tsaritsyno, Pavlovsk and Gatchina, Peterhof is no longer very striking, but still it is much brighter and more interesting than the same dusty Versailles, where it is interesting to see only modern installations and art galleries.
I saw that they let children in a stroller through the palace, though there is nothing provided for this. Especially on stairs. Help is there.
No benefits. The guide reads the program somewhat automatically, but not soullessly. The entire palace takes less than an hour. Then on the first floor to a large souvenir shop, where they could not resist buying expensive nesting dolls, and out. nine0603 Minus only for incomprehensible restrictions in photography – on the main staircase and in the Chinese rooms, as well as extremely narrow passages with ropes for signaling. The Kremlin 30 years later
Did you know? Previously, the entrance to the Kremlin was free, no tickets.
At the Kutafya Tower, two soldiers were standing, in my opinion, even without weapons, wrapping up only those who were not dressed in uniform, it was impossible to wear shorts, foreigners usually didn’t even cross our minds. Backpacks were handed over to the storage room, of any size, now only very large ones. It’s under the bridge, to the left of the entrance. nine0603 The box office is now a spacious building, tickets are sold anywhere. And before there was a small booth right on the Cathedral Square, tickets to the cathedrals were printed in rolls, like bus tickets, they cost 20 kopecks.
Entrance to the territory is free of charge. And how they got into the Armory before, I don’t even know, in my opinion, there were no prefabricated groups at all. Probably at the request of the unions. Even more so to the Diamond Fund.
I took the cheapest ticket, called “Kremlin Square”, in fact it is the whole territory, but without entering the cathedrals. nine0603 At 12 o’clock a crowd of people gathered at the Kutafya Tower. I decided to wait and did the right thing, after 10 minutes there was no one there. By the way, on my ticket it was written 14.00, but no one looked at it.
At the entrance – x-ray machines, like at the station, there are a lot of them, they pass quickly, there is almost no queue.
Behind the wall – everything is as before, the former Palace of Congresses is in its original place, with the coats of arms of all 15 republics in the foyer, it can be seen through the windows.
Now you can get closer to the Arsenal and take a picture of captured guns. The very first, they say, participated in the battle of Poltava. nine0603 In the Patriarchal Chambers – for some reason they are now called the Patriarchal Palace – there is an exhibition dedicated to People’s Commissar for Foreign Affairs Chicherin. Symbolically.
In a small courtyard between the former Palace of Congresses and Cathedral Square, a “combine of household services” was placed: a kiosk selling coffee / tea and sandwiches, there are even a few tables, a souvenir shop and a toilet like a toilet (very clean, there is paper and even hot water, I can’t post a photo, they are wrapped).

Pay attention to the small Church of the Deposition of the Robe, inside the wooden sculptures, it seems, Perm – this is a rarity for Orthodox churches.
At the side of the Faceted Chamber there is a grandiose staircase, it looks like a remake, I don’t remember it before. In this place, there was some kind of outbuilding, in my opinion, and now the entrance to the Grand Kremlin Palace is also opening. nine0603 From the side of the embankment, the Grand Kremlin Palace designed by architect Ton does not look very solemn, the front door would not be out of place to be painted… Probably, the main entrance is still on Cathedral Square. But the front entrance is right here, behind the cast-iron grate.
The next building of the same Tone is the Armory.
The first door, quite inconspicuous, is the Diamond Fund. There I was only once; In my opinion, the premises are not at all adapted for mass tourism. And the collection too. This is Gokhran, not the Kremlin Museums, it seems to me that it would be better to leave it to specialists, and to us, amateurs, to do something virtual, as is now fashionable. nine0603 We only managed to look into the Armory. How I dislike this custom of having to open only one leaf of the door! Visitors have to literally squeeze in. This test passed me, but I did not take a ticket. Well, okay, I already remember every room by heart.
Then I made a sharp turn and along the wall I went to the park where the monument to Lenin used to be. That is, the monument was standing, and he himself was sitting, sort of like in an office, working with documents. The windows of this very office just came out here. They say the monument was taken to Gorki. But the pedestal remained. Well, do you have to do something with it? They put some ancient Greek amphora. Funny…
The building of the Presidium of the Supreme Council was demolished in the absence of such, and they were going to, it seems, restore the Chudov Monastery. Have you heard anything about it? While there is an empty place, next to a temporary pavilion, they show the finds of archaeologists.
The garden in the corner that overlooks St. Basil’s Cathedral is very nice – roses, Christmas trees, lots of benches, where you can rest and even refresh yourself, in the summer there is another buffet kiosk. And a fountain, some commercial office donated.
On the way back – the Tsar Bell and the Tsar Cannon. Smart kids immediately ask – are they real? About the fact that the carriage was later made, and the cores, too, probably everyone knows? She was supposed to shoot with buckshot. nine0603 To the left of the big cannon, about a dozen smaller cannons were placed, they were not there before.
We leave back from Trinity Gate. The Borovitskaya Tower is still in the woods, so the exit through it, closest to the Armory, is closed.
The whole self-made excursion took me about three hours in total. Well, no one urged me on))))

Kolomna Kremlin

Finalist of the 2013 Russia 10 competition, the Kolomna Kremlin became the best visual symbol of the country. It was built at the beginning of the 16th century under Tsar Vasily III. Despite the fact that several towers and fragments of walls remained from the powerful fortification, the structure amazes contemporaries with the breadth of the builders’ intentions and the perfection of forms.

How to get there:

Bus number 460 from the Kotelniki metro station, Ploshchad Dvu Revolutsii stop (1.5–2 hours). Entrance to the Kremlin from Lazhechnikova street
Electric train “Moscow – Golutvin” or “Moscow – Ryazan” (departure from Kazansky railway station) to the station “Golutvin”. Next, tram number 3 or fixed-route taxi number 20 or number 68, stop “Ploshchad Two Revolyutsii”.

St. Pafnutiev Borovsky Monastery
Russians have a special relationship with one of the most famous and ancient monasteries. For a long time it served as a border outpost and protected the capital from incursions from its western neighbors. Enemies repeatedly destroyed the monastery, but thanks to the generous donations of kings and wealthy citizens, it was revived again. The best architects and icon painters of Russia worked on its construction and arrangement. This Kremlin was founded by order of Vasily III in the small village of Novogorodok-on-Osetre. And in 1681, by order of Tsar Fyodor Alekseevich, a stone Nikolsky Cathedral was built in the city. Now there is a museum on the territory of the Kremlin, where you can see collections of paintings, sculptures and graphics from Russia and Western Europe.
How to get there: bus number 330 from the Kotelniki metro station. The bus runs every hour.

Museum-Reserve “Borodino”

On the territory of the museum-reserve there are more than two hundred monuments and memorable places associated with two Patriotic wars. This is the oldest museum in the world, established in 1839 on the battlefields. Borodino is a particularly valuable object of the cultural heritage of the peoples of Russia. In 2007, the museum received the UNESCO Prize for the Conservation and Management of the Cultural Landscape.

Serpukhov Vysotsky Monastery

According to church legends, the founder of the monastery was St. Sergius of Radonezh – he chose a place for its construction and blessed Serpukhov Prince Vladimir Andreevich the Brave for the construction. It happened in 1374. Today, the monastery is a fine example of Orthodox church architecture and a center of pilgrimage to the Inexhaustible Chalice icon.

One of the most beautiful and oldest Russian monasteries, date of laying – 1398. The founder of the monastery is a student of Sergius of Radonezh monk Savva. The Russian tsars fell in love with the monastery: Ivan the Terrible and Tsar Alexei Mikhailovich repeatedly visited the monastery. For the first persons of the state, a country residence was built, the temples were painted by icon painters of the Armory of the Moscow Kremlin. Trinity Sergius Lavra

For its special spiritual and historical significance, the largest male stauropegial monastery, founded on the site of the settlement of Sergius of Radonezh in 1337, has earned the status of a Lavra. The corresponding imperial decree was signed by Elizaveta Petrovna in 1742. The architectural ensemble of the monastery was formed over six centuries and has over sixty buildings. The complex of buildings in 1993 was included in the UNESCO World Heritage List.
Getting there:
Electric train from the Yaroslavsky railway station to the Sergiev Posad station. From the station, walk along Sergievskaya Street to Pancake Hill, which overlooks the Lavra.
Bus number 388 from the metro station “VDNKh” to the stop “Sergiev Posad”.
By car along the Yaroslavl highway until the turn to Sergiev Posad. Driving along the main street, Red Army Avenue, you will come to the Lavra.

Peremilovskaya height
In 1941, near the village of Peremilovo, our troops managed to turn the tide of the war and stop the fascist invaders. A memorial was erected in memory of this battle in Soviet times.
