Despite a uniquely challenging year of economic instability and the COVID-19 pandemic, the United States’ real estate market prices have continued to reach astronomical heights — and the data delivers.

The real estate data experts at PropertyShark ranked the most expensive zip codes in the United States based on the most recent and complete data from the 2021 calendar year. To reflect the most accurate market conditions, the zip code rankings are based upon the median home sale price of closed sales, and reveals many shocking trends and records set. For starters, the top 100 list actually names the highest number of zip codes to date—127 in total— to include those whose median home prices are tied.

Market competition for home buyers has reached new highs, and the calculations of prices in the most desirable regions of the United States offers revealing insights into the current state of affairs. Amongst the staggering new records set by 2021 real estate: all of the zip codes in the top 10 have median home prices surpassing $4 million.

More than 70% of the priciest U.S. zip codes are in California, including six of the top 10. New York state ranked as the second most expensive, but for the first time, no New York City zip codes broke through the top 20; only the Hamptons are in that number. Additionally, the data reveals vertical trends in California’s prices, but New York’s seem to be slowing in comparison. Another surprising reveal: to round out the top half of the list, the notoriously pricy San Francisco slides in by a hair—ranking as #50.

The upper echelon of zip codes show an expected heavy presence from New York state and New York City, the Bay Area, Los Angeles County and other popular California destinations, plus Washington state’s Medina and Connecticut’s Fairfield County. 2021 also marks the first time three Mountain State zip codes are in the top 100 list, with historic price climbs for the affluent Paradise Valley in Arizona and Nevada’s Crystal Bay and Glenbrook, both famous enclaves near Lake Tahoe.

To use this feature, you must first enable Extended Benefits Management . For more information, including important explanations about benefit management, see Enable or disable Benefit Management.

Important!

ACA reporting can only be used in the Benefit Management workspace or the legacy Benefits workspace but not both. For example, if you switched to Benefits Management, ACA reporting is only available in the Benefits Management workspace and not in the old Benefits workspace.

  • Employee’s share of the minimum monthly remuneration if costs exceed the federal poverty level

Affordable Care Act coverage groups help you manage this information for multiple employee records that have the same conditions. You can easily assign groups to one or more employees.

Create or edit an Affordable Care Act coverage group

  1. In workspace Manage Benefits , select Affordable Care Act 9 coverage group0142 .

  2. Select New to create a new Affordable Care Act group, or Edit to edit an existing group.

  3. Set the following fields.

    Field description
    Full name Enter a name for the group.
    description Enter a description for the group.
    Cover offer Coverage offered to employees, their spouses or partners, and their dependents.
    Employee cost share The amount the employee is responsible for.
    Applicable Section 4980H (Safe Harbor Directive) 4980H Safe Harbor or easy transition code.
    Plan start month Select the calendar month that the benefit plan year begins.
    Group valid from The first date this entry is valid.
    Group valid for Last date this entry is valid. If there is no expiration date, enter Never .
  4. Press Save .

Assignment to multiple employees of an Affordable Care Act 9 coverage group0182

  1. In workspace Manage Benefits , select Affordable Care Act Coverage Group.

  2. Select the group to which you want to assign employees.

  3. Select Mass assignment .

  4. Select the employees in the list, then select Assign .

Support for multiple versions of coating options

Multiple versions of any coverage group can be supported. When you make changes to your organization or the benefits offered, you can keep your group information up-to-date without having to create a new group and reassign employees to it.

After you create Affordable Care Act coverage groups, you can mass assign employees. You can also separately assign employees to groups and specify whether data under the US Affordable Care Act will be tracked and reported.

If you do not need to track and report information under US law on affordable health care for an employee, you can set Report Coverage to No . For example, you may have part-time employees who do not require ACA reporting.

Override employee defaults

For employees assigned to an Affordable Care Act coverage group, you can change the following settings for any months that require different values:

  • Cover offer
  • Employee cost share
  • Applicable Section 4980H (Safe Harbor Directive)

Note

ACA 2020 reports require both work and home zip codes to be reported on Form 1095-C. Values ​​are automatically populated based on current active locations. If any location was different in any part of the year, you must override the value. Field Postcode (line 17) in report 1095-C is filled in only if the code of the coverage offer contains 1L through 1Q as shown below:

  • 1L, 1M or 1N: main residence zip code
  • 1O, 1P, 1Q: main zip code

To enter exceptions for any coverage group under the US Affordable Care Act, follow these steps:

  1. In working area Human Resources select links and then select employees .

  2. Select an employee from the list.

  3. On the Employment tab , under More Information , select Affordable Care Coverage .

  4. Select Edit .

  5. For each month that needs to be changed, select checkbox Override default value , then change other values ​​if needed.

  6. Press Save .

Healthcare coverage reporting

All employer-funded self-insured health care coverage for full-time and part-time employees must be tracked. Include each employee, along with their dependents, on the 1095-C report for the months they were covered.

To specify whether a benefit plan should be included in the report, complete the following steps.

  1. In work area Benefit Management , select Benefit Plans .

  2. Select the benefit plan for the report.

  3. Select Edit .

  4. Set parameter Affordable Care Act reporting to Yes .

  5. Press Save .

If an employee chooses health care coverage for a dependent, the period of coverage for the dependent is determined by the date the dependent was registered or removed. Coverage dates for dependents are automatically calculated based on the period the dependent was eligible and active in the plan during the enrollment year.

Create forms 1095-B and 1095-C

You can also create forms ACA 1095-B and 1095-C and then distribute them to each employee. You can also create Form 1095-C and related 1094-C files electronically for submission to the Internal Revenue Service (IRS).

  1. In workspace Manage Benefits , select ACA Form 1095-B or ACA Form 1095-C .

  2. Make the required changes to the parameters, then press the OK button .

    Note

    When printing forms 1095-C for more than 500 employees, you will receive several PDF files. It is recommended to increase the value of field Maximum file size in megabytes on page Document management settings to 150 . (To quickly access this page, use the search box in the navigation bar.)

  3. To check the status of reports and view them, use the search box on the navigation bar to open page ER Jobs .

  4. Select a report to view, then select Show files .

  5. Select Open .

  6. In the notification bar that appears at the bottom of the browser window, open the ZIP file, then select the report. You can view or print the PDF file.

From page Employee coverage under the US Affordable Care Act displays the following information:

  • Employees assigned to each coverage group
  • Employees who do not have to be included in the report
  • Unassigned employees

Follow these steps to view this information.

  1. In workspace Manage Benefits , select Affordable Care Act Employee Coverage.

  2. In field Group name , select a group.

If any Affordable Care coverage group defaults have been overridden, an asterisk appears next to the value that was changed. If the values ​​for all 12 months are the same and have not been overridden, the value is entered in column All 12 months .

You can view employees who are marked as non-reportable by ACA and who do not require Form 1095-C. In the Filter by field, select Not subject to ACA reporting .

You can view employees who are not assigned to a group or who are assigned to an expired group. In the Filter by field, select Unassigned or expired group .

Export to Excel

To export any lists to Microsoft Excel, follow these steps.

  1. Click Open in Microsoft Office .
  2. Select HR HCM temporary table for internal use .
