Inditex is greeted by clothes – Newspaper “Kommersant” Ukraine – Kommersant

3 min.

. ..

After the successful opening of a Zara store in Kyiv, the world’s largest clothing retailer Inditex Group decided to bring three more of its brands to Ukraine – Stradivarius, Bershka and Pull & Bear. Stores under these names should open in Odessa in the summer, and in Kyiv in the fall. They will sell mostly inexpensive clothes. During the economic downturn, the Inditex Group did not dare to launch expensive brands.

Inditex Group signed a lease for 3400 sq. m in the shopping and entertainment center Sky Mall, which will be opened in Kyiv in September. As reported yesterday by Jones Lang LaSalle (leasing space in the mall), four Inditex stores will appear in the Sky Mall: Zara (with an area of 1755 sq. m.), Stradivarius (401 sq. m.), Bershka (703 sq. m.) and Pull & Bear (510 sqm). Now there is only one Zara store in Ukraine, which was opened in Kyiv in May 2008. The signing of a contract with Inditex Group for the opening of stores of these brands was also announced by DTZ, which leases space in the Odessa shopping center Riviera Shopping City (it is planned to open in the summer). An agreement was also signed for the opening of stores in the Leopolis shopping and entertainment center in Lviv. Inditex Group did not respond to Kommersant’s request yesterday.

Industria de Diseco Textil (Inditex Group) was founded in 1963 in Spain. Unites more than 4.278 thousand stores in 73 countries. TM – Zara, Pull & Bear, Massimo Dutti, Bershka, Stradivarius, Oysho, Zara Home and Uterque. Revenue for the nine months of 2008 – 7.353 billion euros (+14%), net profit – 843 million euros (+4%). The main owner Amancio Ortega is ranked 10th in the ranking of the richest people in the world according to Forbes, his fortune is estimated at $18.3 billion. Capitalization of Inditex on the Madrid Stock Exchange following the results of trading yesterday is 16.194 billion euros.

Stradivarius, Bershka and Pull & Bear sell affordable clothing for teens and young adults aged 18 to 29. “Bershka is an analogue of TM Pimkie and Jennifer already opened in Ukraine, Pull & Bear is a more moderate youth clothing in which you can go to work, and Stradivarius is represented by a wider range of clothing for both men and women. In general, all these brands work well in Europe,” says Dmitry Ermolenko, CEO of Maratex in Ukraine (which develops Hugo Boss, Esprit and Peacocks clothing chains). “Inditex Group bought the Stradivarius brand about 12 years ago. Then TM developed in Italy and sold clothes for pensioners. But you need to be a very brave pensioner to wear the clothes they sell now,” jokes independent expert Alexander Lanetsky.

Previously, it was planned that Inditex Group will open stores of its more expensive brands – Massimo Dutti and Oyosho, as well as a Zara Home store for home furnishing in Sky Mall. “In February, I spoke with representatives of Inditex in Ukraine and, as far as I know, they are satisfied with the results of the work of the first store in Kiev. But the withdrawal of Massimo Dutti and Oyosho is not a matter of this year or even next year,” notes Mr. Lanetsky. are sold in a more expensive price segment, and it is not so much the crisis that prevents them from being brought to Ukraine, but the underdevelopment of the market. And the Zara Home group does not open even in Poland.”

According to Dmitry Yermolenko, now sales are not falling only in budget clothing stores. “It is really better for Inditex to delay the launch of Massimo Dutti on the market. For example, sales of such expensive brands as Hugo Boss have stopped, Esprit and Aldo are selling worse in the mid-price segment, but in general they are not falling. But sales of budget Peacocks, on the contrary, have grown “, – says Mr. Ermolenko.

In 2007, when Inditex signed its first contract in Ukraine, the company’s representatives told developers about their plans to open about a hundred stores in Kiev and million-plus cities, investing more than 1 million euros in each (see Kommersant dated August 13, 2007). “But in the end, the company has very few contracts in the country – the group’s requirements for shopping centers are very high, in addition, Inditex was never ready to pay too much for rent,” says Mr. Lanetsky. Dmitry Yermolenko notes that during the economic downturn, financially wealthy companies have the opportunity to open in places that previously “one could only dream of. ” Inditex stated to the owners of some shopping centers that it was ready to pay no more than 10 euros / sq. m per month, plus about 7% of the store’s revenue, says Alexander Lanetsky: “A year ago, with such a proposal, no one would have wanted to listen to them. Now developers have become more accommodating.”

shopping in Oranjestad, souvenirs and gifts

Are you planning a Caribbean cruise? Aruba will delight you with the cleanest beaches, interesting excursions (especially underwater), fun parties or, conversely, a secluded vacation. And, of course, profitable shopping: Aruba is a duty-free zone. Consider that you are in one big heavenly duty free with white sands and azure waters around.

It is best to fly to Aruba with dollars – they are accepted almost everywhere here. It will be beneficial to exchange them for Aruban florins already on the spot (see our converter for the current exchange rate against the ruble, dollar, euro and other currencies). This can be done at bank offices, official exchange offices or at hotels. Cashless payment is possible in most tourist places. When withdrawing cash from a card, ATMs may charge a small commission, and they issue only florins. There are dollar ATMs only in Oranjestad.

There is no tax-free system in Aruba. This is understandable: the absence of duties suggests that prices in the island nation are already at least 20% lower than the average market.

So, what can you bring from Aruba?

Within walking distance from the port in Oranjestad is the large Royal Plaza Mall. Here you can buy everything you need: from clothes and shoes to Caribbean cigars and souvenirs.

If you walk along the embankment, you will see the Renaissance complex (hotel, casino and shopping center). Here the set is the same: luxury brands, watches, jewelry. And opposite this shopping center there is another popular mall – Holland Aruba Mall. You probably already guessed that shopping centers in Aruba are at almost every step. Choose any.

        World brands

It is worth bringing clothes and accessories from world brands from Aruba. Check out Gucci, YSL, LV, Ralph Lauren, Dior and more. Prices in Aruba are much lower than in Europe. There are also more democratic brands like Lacoste, Zara, etc. Go to any shopping center, the entrance of which is not hung with swimsuits – you will not lose.

Women in Aruba can also look into lingerie and swimwear stores. Well, shopping for men is ties, branded watches, leather belts and wallets. There are specialized shops in almost every shopping center.

        Sporting Goods

Aruba offers great sportswear. Among them are goods of world brands like Nike, Adidas, Reebok, etc., as well as purely Caribbean goods. Check out shops like Sport Caribe (near the marina in Oranjestad), malls or small local malls.

        Jewelery

Women in Aruba are in for a great shopping experience: the best jewelery can be bargained on the island. For example, here you will find diamonds, emeralds and topazes from Colombia. The quality is excellent, and the prices are even lower than in the supplier’s home country. Buy gold or silver, pay attention to precious and semi-precious stones. The best design, the highest standards, quality assurance – Aruba will satisfy even the most demanding customers. For shopping, go to specialized stores.

        Cosmetics

Look for cosmetic departments in shopping centers. Also sometimes come across small local shops that sell Caribbean, American and European cosmetics.

        Aloe

Aloe Factory, Museum and Store. As the name implies, the place is dedicated to aloe. Here you will learn a lot of interesting things and buy excellent cosmetics based on this plant. Multifunctional gel costs about $18, after-sun gel $10-12, hand or foot cream $8-10. A good gift set can be bought in Aruba for $25-30 and up.

        Well-known brands

Women should pay attention to skin care and decorative cosmetics – buying them in Aruba is very profitable. Bring home your favorite brands. We will not list famous brands – they are known to girls even without us. We advise you to look at luxury cosmetics. This is the case when even not the richest tourists can afford it.

        Perfume

Bring your favorite eau de toilette, perfumed spray or perfume from Aruba – it’s a good investment. The assortment may not be too large, but you will still find the most popular brands here.

        Electronics

Many tourists bring electronics from Aruba. Take a look at specialty stores like Lucky Electronics or iStore Aruba – the prices are reasonable, all the new items are usually in stock. Do not pass by the relevant departments in shopping centers. If you want to buy a new iPhone and have already planned a Caribbean cruise, postpone the purchase until you travel to Aruba.

↓ Use the form to find a hotel in Aruba at a bargain price. There are really chic options with a sea view! ↓

        Souvenirs

Souvenir shops in Aruba often operate at hotels or near beaches. They are also located near the main seaport of the island. Interesting gizmos can be bought in the shopping center or large stores.

        Standard set

You can easily buy shell crafts, postcards, bright costume jewelry, magnets and “I Love Aruba” T-shirts – they can be found in almost every souvenir shop. T-shirts for tourists cost about 20-25 dollars, postcards – about a dollar. Perhaps there is nothing unusual from souvenirs in Aruba.

        Home textiles

Pay attention to Dutch lace (Aruba is part of the Kingdom of the Netherlands). They are highly valued all over the world, and it will be profitable to buy something for your home on the island. You can also bring home linens painted in the Caribbean style. Well, or towels decorated with bright embroidery – also come from Holland.

        Wood

A distinctive feature of the Caribbean world is beautiful woodwork. It can be dishes, musical instruments or some interior gizmos. They are of very high quality and are usually decorated with beautiful paintings. Many accessories are handmade. In Aruba, you can buy something similar as a gift to your loved ones – useful, original, pleasant.

        Cigars

Cigars are brought to Aruba from Cuba, so you don’t even have to ask about the quality. Prices are reasonable, as elsewhere on the island. It is best to buy cigars and related products in specialized shops. If you want to bring a worthy gift from Aruba to a smoking man, buy a guillotine or a humidor in addition.

        Food and drink

Buy groceries in Aruba either in supermarkets or in specialized shops. Some of them are in shopping malls.

        Cheese and meat

Spanish jamon and French cheese in Aruba? Why not! You can really buy everything here. And in general, all the best European delicacies. The choice, of course, is limited, but the most popular products are there.

Another question is how to carry. The road to Russia is long – at least 14 hours with transfers. If you are not worried about safety, buy something as a gift for loved ones. Well, or eat everything yourself right in Aruba.

        Chocolate and sweets

Bring the best sweets of American or European production as a present for children and those with a sweet tooth – it’s profitable to buy them here. You know your favorite brands even without us, so we will not advise anything here. But just in case, let’s recall Swiss chocolate – Aruba also has it.

        Alcohol

The island state offers a huge selection of imported alcohol. Most of the famous brands in Aruba are always in stock. Look for alcohol in specialty stores or regular supermarkets. Tourists often bring the famous Caribbean rum from Aruba: gold or black. Feedback from connoisseurs about him is extremely positive.

Beer is the only local in Aruba.
