      HASED BY SPRING RAYS

      Author: Olga Privalova

Always long-awaited and revitalizing, spring is the perfect time to go on a journey. When there is no suffocating heat and countless crowds of tourists, you can safely immerse yourself in the culture of another country and enjoy the surrounding beauties.

“Russian Thought” will tell you about the most attractive places for spring holidays.

      1. SICILY

Sicily is often and unnecessarily bypassed by fans of Italy – either because of the “mafia” fame that accompanies it, or because of the reputation of an underdeveloped economic region. Nevertheless, sometimes cool in winter and unbearably hot in summer, Sicily in spring is like a bottomless magical chest from which you can endlessly extract vivid impressions.

Sicily is a place that captivates with its authenticity. Being the largest administrative region of Italy, the island is divided into nine provinces, each of which is attractive in its own way.

You don’t have to look for local attractions or adventures – they will find you. Greta Garbo, Tennessee Williams, Picasso, Goethe, Ivan Bunin – they all drew inspiration and sang about the beauty of the island, which you can talk about endlessly, but it’s better to see it once.

Points of interest: Catacombs of the Capuchins – a fascinating exhibition of mummies,

Villa del Casale, Mount Etna, the Massimo Theater, the theater in Tauromenia, the Botanical Garden, the Valley of the Temples in Agrigento, the Cave of the Ear of Dionysus, the Blue Grotto.

What to eat? Seafood, local wine, gelato.

What to buy ? Lava products, corals, ceramics; in large cities and suburban malls, it is quite possible to carry out shopping that is in no way inferior to European capitals.

Interest No: Sicily is a forge of creative people. Composer Bellini, playwright Pirandello, Oscar-winning director Giuseppe Tornatore, Frank Capra, Salvatore Adamo were all born here.

      Sicily

      2. SANTORINI

Greece has everything, and the islands here are in abundance – there are about 1500 of them. Most are uninhabited, but those where life is in full swing do not cease to attract tourists from all parts of the world.

According to legend, the island of Santorini arose from the remains of a volcano, part of Atlantis that had gone under water in ancient times. Here you can find yourself on the other side of reality – away from the hustle and bustle. Getting to the island is not difficult – both by plane and by water.

The capital of Santorini, the city of Thira, amazes with an abundance of white houses and white churches with rich blue domes – these are the very views that are most often used on postcards with views of Greece. No wonder it is called the most romantic island: every year many couples come here to get married or celebrate a wedding. And although the air here is literally saturated with romance, Santorini is a universal destination for tourists of all ages and categories.

Volcanic sand beaches – white, red and even black – have been awarded the UNESCO label, which is given to the cleanest beaches in the world. Sunset is the hallmark of the island: past the rocks, gliding like rays over dazzling white houses and domes of churches, a huge fireball seems to be plunging into the sea. This is where the BBC filmed Atlantis: The End of the World, Birth of a Legend.

Sightseeing: Akrotiri, volcanoes, sunset, wineries, Venetian castle at Imerovigli, Ancient Fira (city built in the 19th century BC).

What to eat? Seafood, real Greek salad.

What to buy ? Local wine Vinsanto (sweet wine made from sun-dried grapes), paintings of the serene Aegean Sea, olive oil.

This French-speaking province of Canada makes you want to go as soon as you know who it has given to the world. Celine Dion, Garou, Lara Fabian, Robert Lepage, Leonard Cohen – they all once started their creative careers here. A special place of honor is given to Guy Laliberte, who went from a simple circus performer to one of the richest people in Canada, giving the world such a phenomenon as Cirque du Soleil (Circus of the Sun).

Quebec is rich in forests – they cover more than half of the territory of the province – as well as lakes – there are more than a million of them.

The capital of Quebec City is Quebec City and the largest is Montreal. They are only a couple of hours away from each other.

Montreal is located on a vast island. There are many museums, theaters and cathedrals, and the business districts are reminiscent of American ones.

The ancient architecture of the streets of Quebec recreates the charm of European cities; it still has cobbled streets and a fortress wall; every day at 10 am you can watch the colorful changing of the guard.

The philosophy of feng shui plays a key role in the architecture of the city: in some houses, holes are even left on purpose so that it would be more convenient for the dragon to fly when descending from the mountains. Despite its status as one of America’s oldest cities, the island’s capital, San Juan, is a vibrant modern city. You can plunge into the flavor of local life by visiting Viejo San Juan, where buildings of the 16th-17th centuries, stone fortress walls and cobbled streets are still preserved.
