¿Por qué pintaron de negro y blanco la famosa puerta de la bandera? | Estilo de Vida

SAN JUAN, Puerto Rico. Mucha sorpresa ha causado en las redes sociales el cambio drástico que sufrió la famosa obra de arte que engalana una puerta en el Viejo San Juan.

Se trata de la icónica bandera de Puerto Rico a la entrada de un edificio en la calle San José que en vez de mostrar sus tradicionales colores azul, rojo y blanco ahora es blanco y negra.

La puerta, al parecer, amaneció “de luto”, un acto que algunos han descrito como vandalismo y otros como patriótico, pues ocurrió a cinco días de aprobarse en el Senado federal la Ley para la Supervisión, Administración y Estabilidad Económica para Puerto Rico ( Promesa , por sus siglas en inglés).

Esta ley contempla la implementación de una junta de control fiscal, un organismo que tendrá más potestades que el gobierno electo por el pueblo de Puerto Rico y que comenzará a operar el 1 de septiembre.

Mientras en las redes sociales se barajaban conjeturas sobre el por qué del cambio de color de la monoestrellada, el dueño del edificio indicó al diario Primera Hora que la obra fue alterada por sus creadoras. Sostuvo que a él también le tomó por sorpresa, pero que de todas formas los artistas tienen permiso de modifcarla.

“Cuando la vi le dije a mi esposa que me dio dolor. No el dolor decepción porque no es un vandalismo. Pena por nuestro país, que no mandamos aquí. No mandamos hace rato”, expresó el propietario a ese diario.

Una de las artistas, cuya identidad prefiere no ser revelada había dicho a Univisionpr.com en diciembre de 2015 que “la razón principal acerca del por qué se pintó (la bandera en la puerta) es porque la pared en sí representa grabadores puertorriqueños.” La icónica puerta con la bandera es el producto del proyecto Grabadores por Grabadores que forma parte de la Trienal Poligráfica y el cual comenzó en esa pared.

“La bandera, aunque fue parte del proyecto desde el primer día, solo se pintó para brindar un tributo a artistas plásticos de aquí. Así de sencillo. Sin pensar en lo que pasaría con el tiempo.”, enfatizó.

¿Qué hay detrás de la puerta de la bandera?

Pese a que muchos se detienen, incluso haciendo filas, para tomarse la famosa foto, pocos son los que cuestionan ¿qué hay detrás de la puerta?

Ubicada en la calle San José, la puerta se ha vuelto ícono de la ciudad capital. Llama la atención de todos los turistas y locales que, a su paso, no dudan en fotografiarse frente a ella. Su imagen ha recorrido el mundo.

Muchos ni lo piensan. Solo se ve la muchedumbre haciendo turno para poder tomarse una buena foto. Sin embargo, para una artista que reside en Nueva York, la intriga pudo más.

En una de sus recientes visitas a Puerto Rico, la artista Lena del Sol fue más allá de simplemente tomarse una foto, esta quiso responder la pregunta ¿qué hay detrás de esta puerta? Y así fue como ella y su pareja se percataron de una entrada y decidieron mirar.

“Soy cuentista por naturaleza. Me encanta mirar mis alrededores, la naturaleza y la belleza que nos rodea a diario”, así se describió la artista. Nacida en Toronto, Canadá de padres puertorriqueños y criada en Nueva York -cuna del exilio boricua- Lena del Sol asegura que tiene una conexión especial con Puerto Rico y el Caribe.

En entrevista reciente con Univisionpr.com, comentó que la curiosidad por ver más allá de la puerta nació del cambio drástico que ha visto en sus últimas visitas a Puerto Rico.

“He notado como todo va decayendo. Los negocios cierran, lugares que antes visitaba y frecuentaba ahora están desolados, el costo de vida aumenta y sentir del país es que ya no aguantan más la falta de recursos, trabajos y oportunidades”, dijo.

Esto, según Lena del Sol, se ve reflejado en el país y en su gente, cosa que le causa gran tristeza. Y es precisamente esto lo que vio al traspasar las puertas de la icónica puerta.

Según la artista, se quedó atónita al ver todo lo que se encuentra detrás de esta puerta. “Entramos y habían gatos, muchos gatos, incluso unos muertos, pájaros, basura y lo más curioso, llantas de autos acomodadas de forma vertical, como si alguien las hubiese acomodado así”, relató.

Además, en las imágenes se puede ver un árbol que creció justo en el medio del edificio abandonado y el cual es reflejo de la cantidad de tiempo que lleva clausurado pues es de bastante altura que incluso sale por lo que solían ser ventanas.

Puerto Rico atraviesa una de sus peores crisis en la historia, lleva sumido en una profunda recesión desde 2006, hay una emigración masiva de profesionales y el Gobierno tiene una deuda de $70 mil millones que no puede pagar.
