What people are saying

José Enrique might be one of America’s best restaurants and a temple of elevated Puerto Rican home cooking, but you’d never be able to tell from the looks of it. With its modest exterior, plain wooden tables and whiteboards scribbled with basic descriptions—”beef stew,” “pork chop” and “cheese fritters”—it is as modest and casual as they come. In fact, if it weren’t for the hordes of people crowded in and around the establishment night and day, you might easily assume you were in the wrong spot.

A fun, flirty and spicy night out! This space strips away all the unnecessary flair and let’s the food SHINE. Beer is served in a short glass with paper napkins, the art on the wall is modern and entertaining. Alejandro was outstanding at explaining the menu and really pulling us into the experience. We ordered the chefs special and WOW we understood immediately why it was a menu staple. Each dish we had shone in its own right! I highly recommend this restaurant for a relaxed night away when you know the food is going to be outstanding.

I’m sure writing a review is unnecessary for such a phenomenal restaurant, but in case you’re on the fence – GO! Once you can find the place (no sign outside, but I love this level of quirkiness) you will enjoy the most amazing culinary experience. Every dish is fine tuned to exceed your expectations. I got a main course of broccoli and even that was next level. I like that Jose Enrique is not pretentious. While the restaurant is clean and modern, there are no frills. The design is simplistic and the energy is poured into the important thing – the food. You will be served intricate and artistic dishes by tattooed waitstaff in Doc Martens, and you will wonder why every other restaurant doesn’t operate this way and let the food speak for itself.

Sarah Philpott — Google review

Service was excellent. Our server was nice, personable and very well-versed on the menu. The ambiance was a bit lacking for a restaurant situated on the water (no outside seating, no water views).
Skip the Lick Your Plate Chicken, because it isn’t so. Chicharron is actually fried pork belly, but still good. The skirt steak with chimichurri sauce was cooked to perfection and the avocado plate was garnished with a light sauce and herbs 🌿 making it a perfect side.

90,000 Separatists of all countries, unite! – Mir – Kommersant

The conference “Dialogue of Nations. The right of peoples to self-determination and building a multipolar world”. It was organized by the Anti-Globalization Movement of Russia, at the invitation of which representatives of more than a dozen different regions advocating independence and self-determination, from the National Sovereign State of Borinquen (Puerto Rico) to the Saharan Arab Democratic Republic, came to Moscow. The delegates also had something to discuss with the representatives of Novorossiya who arrived here. With details about how the participants of the congress formed an international working group to counteract American imperialism, – the correspondents of “Kommersant” OLGA KUZNETSOVA and ARTEM SHUR.

Representatives of 35 political movements from different countries gathered yesterday at a round table in the conference hall of the President Hotel to recall the right of nations to self-determination and to form a united front against US imperialism. The organizer of the international meeting – the first of its kind – was the Anti-Globalization Movement of Russia. As a result of the meeting, the participants adopted a document in defense of the rights of peoples to self-determination, formalized as a draft resolution of the UN General Assembly.

President of the Anti-Globalization Movement Alexander Ionov explained to Kommersant that not all of the foreign guests invited to Moscow were able to take part in the meeting. For example, supporters of Texas’ secession from the United States and Scottish patriots were invited – however, neither of them managed to get permission to participate in the event from their authorities. According to Kommersant’s information, they refrained from inviting representatives of the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region of China in Moscow.

Prior to the conference, Omali Yeshitela, chairman of the African revolutionary organization Uhuru (translated from Swahili for Freedom), thanked the president of the Anti-Globalization Movement for “the efforts to consolidate all the anti-imperialist movements of the world.” “A missile capable of killing ideals has not yet been invented,” Mr. Yeshitela proclaimed, citing the overthrow of Muammar Gaddafi’s regime in Libya and the incitement of conflict in Sudan as examples of US colonial policy.

Vladimir Rogov, a representative of the Novorossiya movement, shared his own experience of fighting colonialism. Recalling that “Novorossia” is the youngest of the “states born in pain,” Mr. Rogov named, in his opinion, the key reason for the West’s non-recognition of the self-proclaimed Donetsk and Luhansk People’s Republics: “All power in these republics rests on real democracy.”

Fedor Biryukov, representative of the Motherland party, explained the importance of holding such a forum in Moscow. “We (Russia. – “Kommersant” ) we are trying to embrace the whole world in a friendly embrace,” he said. . These measures, according to Mr. Biryukov, are being taken with the aim of “forming a worldwide front of resistance to the Washington ghouls.”

Member of the Public Chamber Georgy Fedorov, following his colleague, spoke out against the “imperialist dictatorship of the West” and called for reflection on the fact that Western colonialism is hitting independent states that “can offer the world an alternative anti-colonial agenda”, not only in the Middle East, but and in Europe (as they tried to do in Yugoslavia).

“The best people have gathered here,” said Mr. Fedorov, addressing the participants of the meeting. Chief Advisor to the King of Hawaii (which is actually a US state) Lanny Sinkin and delegates from the National Sovereign State of Borinken (Puerto Rico) nodded in response.

During the break, Ibrahim Barry, a member of the For Gaddafi and His People community, was looking at a small bronze statuette of the late leader of the Libyan Jamahiriya that he had brought with him and seemed to be holding on to it. Mr. Barry himself is from Guinea, but has been living in Russia for more than 12 years, and in the image of Muammar Gaddafi he sees “an ideal for everyone who shares the idea of confronting the West.” “The mess in the world began a long time ago,” the Guinean explains to Kommersant, “from Yugoslavia, Afghanistan, Iraq, Libya, and Russia is a great country designed to resist the chaos caused by the West.”

Antonio Grego, a representative of the Patriotic Socialism movement, explained to Kommersant that he sees the special significance of the event in the “unification of peoples who are fighting for their independence. ” “Our movement represents the interests of the entire Italian people, and although we do not support the separatists of all countries, we stand for the independence of the peoples of Donbass,” he told Kommersant.

José Enrique Volk of the Catalan Solidarity for Independence party told the meeting participants the story of the Catalan people’s desperate attempts to gain independence from Madrid. His speech sounded especially relevant on the eve of the elections of the Catalan government scheduled for September 27. “The Catalans do not consider themselves part of Spain and do not feel comfortable within the Spanish borders,” Mr. Volk assured the audience.
