Do yourself a favor and take the ride into pinones. If your off season do it on the weekend as most kiosks will be closed.
Bike rental. There is a place called copi the woman is really unfriendly and the bikes suck (lack of better word) but the trail is amazing. Gorgeous views. Bring bug spray. A lot of it. Watch out for the busted parts of the boardwalk.
The area seemed safe at all times I was there and I had no worries. No Uber signals so you do have to walk (a little) out towards San Juan which also was fairly safe (there’s a path) and we stopped at the ocean lab brewery for a beer and a bite before walking the rest of the way into San Juan. Our preference, we enjoyed the walk . You may not if you don’t like long walks.
Beach is beautiful but not swimable IMO a little rough, and no one was in the water.
Food. Lots of fried foods.

Outstanding beach
Combate beach is one of the best 5 beaches in all of P.R. The clear and calm waters make it an ideal place to relax. The west coast has Playa Sucia, Combate beach and Buye beach that make a fantastic trio.

Fun way to spend a morning in Coamo!
We visited these therapeutic hot springs in early December after traveling the island for several days. The facility was well maintained and the recent renovations were very lovely. Great changing facilities and a nice gift shop. Super affordable place to relax.
I would suggest going outside peak sun hours. perhaps early morning, evening, or a rainy day? We went in the heat of the afternoon and the water was hot! Some of us loved it and it helped heal some aches and pains. You can bring in a water bottle but they also have tasty drinks for sale.

Absolutely beautiful!
Warm, clear waters. Even though the ferry and taxi areas were full, the beach was not very crowded and there was tons of space to pick from at the beach. They rent umbrellas but very limited stock. There are a couple of food stands with inexpensive options (cash at one and credit at the other).
Seaweed at the shore but not a problem in the water. Such an amazing experience and view.

Nice beach, off the beaten path
This was a nice beach day, however we would not have found it without GPS. There is a parking lot which charges $5 to park. There is also a $1 fee to use the restroom. It is a popular beach as it was very busy the day we went. We walked further down the beach to have an area for ourselves.

Great experience if your expectations are realistic
The key to enjoying Laguna Grande is having realistic expectations. Forget those heavily filtered IG pictures, the reality is that the glowing effect produced by the microscopic organisms in the bay is produced as a reaction to movement in the water. Only then do they activate their glowing defense mechanism. So don’t expect you’ll suddenly reach a bay that glows like a glowstick on a rave. You’ll be able to see the glowing effect when you move the water with your hand and while rowing. Its a very interesting natural phenomenon that is worth experiencing – but again – you need to have realistic expectations.
To get to the bay, you’ll have to row for about 20-30 minutes through mangroves. Honestly, I found this experience alone to be worth the tour. I had never kayaked at night, and going through the dark, narrow channel is a very surreal, even creepy, experience.
As for crowds…yes, there is a lot of people. There are several outfitters, and while you go through the narrow channel, you’ll sometimes have a group coming the other way. There are only a handful of bio-bays in the world, and this one might be the most accessible one, so of course you won’t be alone.

The Illustrious El Yunque National Forest
Soooo beautiful with some breathtaking views. Some parts of the trails offered were closed off, but if you plan to go, you MUST check Juan Diego Creek, Angelito Trail, and if you have the time and energy, Mt. Britton tower. The latter is quite a climb (not literally) and the incline will feel like a workout to the less physically active folks like myself, but the view is worth it. Just take your time and go at your own pace.

A must Go
Isla Caja de Muertos in Ponce is a beautiful beach to enjoy. There is a short ride to the Island, but the sand and the water is the best in the south side of the Island. Very safe to swim or snorkeling. It could get a little crowded during holidays.

Nice beach for body surfing
We enjoyed this beach very much. The waves were great and not too strong. My husband and 11 year old son body surfed most of the day. The beach sand was nice and no rocks. Our belongings felt safe on the beach when we were swimming. After swimming we walked to Tamboo and had drinks and a nice meal.

Lovely annoying buzz 🐝
2 things I didn’t like and to be cautioned of ;
A because the trashbins there were bees it was an experience to see them I. A finished cup of Tennessee honey jack Daniel’s that my husband had finished and they drunkly flew away and came back. They came with a bunch of them
The docks you had to jump down and climb up with no stepping stones or stairs on either side of the connecting beach with the connecting muddy road to the car
The water was beautiful and clear with sand bar leading into the water I stayed in for hours and I tanned and fed the birds so overall lovely

One of my favorite beaches in Vieques
I loved this beach. It has crystal blue waters and plenty of palm trees and gazebos around it for shade. You need a car, preferably a Jeep or SUV to get here. The road to get to Chiva is unpaved (gravel). On your way there, you’ll see a few numbered ‘coves’ along your right side. You can park in any of them to enter the beach. My favorite is #9.

Family trip memories to last a lifetime
Today my family and I rode horses at the ranch led by Jonathan and Pablo. We had so much fun. The horses were gentle and matched well with our experience (my 6 year old rode the very sweet Rambo-her first horseback adventure!). This experience was so very precious to me and my family. Thank you to Jonathan and Pablo for leading us and caring for us throughout the entire trip. They were the best!!! Don’t pass up the opportunity to ride through this stunning land.

Paradise on earth
Stunning, almost private beach I’d love to visit again sometime. we took the ferry from San Juan and spent the night on the island. I wish we had allocated more time. We visited several beaches, the tiny Museum in town, It’s a Beautiful island With beautiful Horses running the island and beaches. I’m glad the US Navy was finally pushed out it’s sad to know the damage they did to the island.

The Best Natural Attractions in Puerto Rico

El Yunque (tel. 787/888-1880): Thirty minutes by road east of San Juan in the Luquillo Mountains and protected by the U.S. Forest Service, El Yunque is Puerto Rico’s greatest natural attraction, the only tropical rainforest in the United States National Forest System. It sprawls across 28,000 acres (1,133 hectares) of the rugged Sierra de Luquillo mountain range, covering areas of Canóvanas, Las Piedras, Luquillo, Fajardo, Ceiba, Naguabo, and Río Grande. The area is named after the Indian spirit Yuquiye, which means “Forest of Clouds,” who local Taínos thought protected the island from disaster in times of storms. Originally established in 1876 by the Spanish Crown, it’s one of the oldest reserves in the region. There are some 240 species (26 endemic) of trees and plants found here and 50 bird species, including the rare Puerto Rican Parrot (scientific name: Amazona vitatta), which is one of the ten most endangered species of birds in the world. The foot-long parrot is bright green, with red forehead, blue primary wing feathers, and flesh-colored bill and feet. Some 100 billion gallons of rain fall here annually. Visitors and families can walk one of the dozens of trails that wind past waterfalls, dwarf vegetation, and miniature flowers, while the island’s colorful parrots fly overhead. You can hear the song of Puerto Rico’s coquí, a small tree frog, in many places.

Río Camuy Caves (tel. 787/898-3100): Some 2 1/2 hours west of San Juan, visitors board a tram to descend into this forest-filled sinkhole at the mouth of the Clara Cave. They walk the footpaths of a 170-foot-high (52m) cave to a deeper sinkhole. Once they’re inside, a 45-minute tour helps everyone, including kids, learn to differentiate stalactites from stalagmites. At the Pueblos sinkhole, a platform overlooks the Camuy River, passing through a network of cave tunnels.

Las Cabezas de San Juan Nature Reserve (tel. 787/722-5882): This 316-acre (128-hectare) nature reserve about 45 minutes from San Juan encompasses seven different ecological systems, including forestland, mangroves, lagoons, beaches, cliffs, and offshore coral reefs. Reservations are necessary to enter, and the park is open 5 days a week (Wed-Sun). The park staff conducts tours in Spanish and English from 9am through 2pm. Each tour lasts 2 1/2 hours and includes rides on trolleys and a walk along boardwalks through oceanfront mangrove forest. Tours end with a climb to the top of the still-working 19th-century lighthouse for views over Puerto Rico’s eastern coast and nearby Caribbean islands. Call to reserve space before going, as bookings are based on stringent restrictions as to the number of persons who can tour the park without damage to its landscape or ecology. One of the finest phosphorescent bays in the world is located here, and local tour operators take you in a kayak or electronic boat to experience the animals’ glow firsthand during nighttime tours.

  The place of power of the whole island is here
  We fell in love with the old town with its winding streets and pretty, brightly decorated houses. They came every evening in a rental car, discovering more and more interesting, iconic places. If you want to visit museums, fortresses or cathedrals, you need to come during the day and before 16:00. There are large parking lots at the cruise ship port, where the Sheraton Hotel is. But we parked for free on the streets. It makes no sense to list all the sights. There are a lot of them. Like cafes and restaurants. For every taste and budget. Be sure to come here in the evening and on weekends or holidays. You can become a participant in the most interesting events or carnival shows. I highly recommend. The locals know how to relax, and the law enforcement and cleaning staff quickly clean up everything after mass festivities. We are witnesses to that.

  We came here especially in the evening at sunset. A wonderful view, to be sure, pleases the eye. You really need to make a detour to the mark and turn in time to the nearest parking lot, next to the beach. Then walk up the hill for about 12-15 minutes. The lighthouse is closed, they are not allowed inside, the beauty is photos of the sun setting in the sea, if you are lucky with a clear sky. Lovers of sunset shots and just couples come here in advance. A very romantic look. Tip – stock up on repellent, as the sun falls, the midge becomes active and bites hard. I got hit on the forehead (literally). Very itchy and takes a long time to come off.

  Beautiful beach
  Clean beach with beautiful blue water. To the west of Flamenco Beach is an area that was used for joint military exercises by the US Navy and US Marines until 1975. Many military vehicles, including tanks, remained here as exhibits in the open. Some of the tanks are decorated with colorful graffiti and create a unique landscape against the backdrop of a tropical beach.

  Vacationers on the island of Vieques are advised to visit an excursion to Mosquito Bay, canoeing with luminous fish. This night entertainment may seem quite extreme. But coming here from the main island of Puerto Rico just for the sake of this excursion is definitely not worth it.

  good! White sand! petty! warm water! There are changing rooms. there is a parking lot. not far from the beach is a piece of tropical forest where iguanas live! you can watch them as they warm themselves or crawl through the trees. There are no cafes on the beach, no water. all with you. but very charming!

  Luminous Fish Lagoon
  One of the most popular excursions in the area. When it gets dark, we sailed on a boat to the places of accumulation of luminous plankton. They offered to swim, but we were afraid to go down into the water in the dark. But they said it is better to see, because. living creatures begin to glow more when moving. There wasn’t much to see where we were going. It might be more interesting to go on a canoe tour.

  Beautiful nature
  It’s beautiful, but it’s better not to come without a car. In the forest there are waterfalls (where you can swim) and an observation tower, cliffs (where beautiful views open). Admission is free. One waterfall is la coca, and the 2nd is la mina, it is 40 minutes walk from the road, as it is written on the sign, but I got there faster! Between the waterfalls is a yokahu tower. In general, the place is impressive.

  Nice beach and only
  A small boat goes to the island every day from the pier of Ponce, unless otherwise specified. The pleasure costs $25. Sailing an hour there and an hour back or so. You can swim to the island on a yacht, it is more convenient and pleasant.
  There is not much to do on the island itself. There are two tourist attractions – an abandoned lighthouse and a beach where turtles breed. The beach is closed, as the eggs are very fragile and numerous tourists will trample everything; and the lighthouse, despite the inscription – the property of the United States of America, soon presents a pitiful sight.
  There is one tourist beach, where the guests of the island who sailed on a boat splash around… But if you sailed on your yacht or if you are not too lazy… Forget about this beach. From the mooring place of the tourist boat, a trail leads to the lighthouse, at the fork where you need to turn right to the lighthouse, feel free to turn left. There the trail is barely visible, but it is there. You will come out to a beautiful lagoon, the most beautiful, I am sure, you have not seen. And that is not all. Go into the water and move to the right along the shore. The water is absolutely transparent… After walking 40-50 meters along the water, you will find a dozen beautiful, clean beaches isolated from each other (10-15 meters each, delimited by stones), where you will be alone. .. Believe me, it’s worth it ! It’s not like in the Bounty ad, it’s much cooler!

  Beach for a comfortable stay
  We were advised to go here at a hotel in Aguada, the beach is equipped, the sand is soft, there are not very many people, you can find a place to sunbathe on your towels / sun loungers.

  Blue Beach
  Blue Beach was recommended to us by the hotel and we did not regret that we went there and spent half a day there. This beach is quite secluded, very few people. The day was a bit overcast, with occasional drizzling rain, then the sun came out again, but the water in any light looked amazingly bright, turquoise. On the right side of the beach, where the stones begin, there is very good snorkeling.
