Great spot to tan and surf. Not a place to swim, Hardcore waves, currents and rocks. Super for photos!

Inner Localism

Apr 2022

Some Localism terrible. ..bad for business. I’m fully Puerto Rican born and raised and one of my buckets list was to ride domes beach in Rincon. The first locals were great they tell you and help you where to go in but once in the water another story. I understand water safety above first all but it is the approach on how you talk to people. The first locals were great. The second( local) one in the water not so much…like he owed the beach. Everyone in the water looks the same until you come out:) I cant and wont judge everyone for one bad incident but lets just say that little midget with the hat in the water that was talking that mess he was lucky I was dealing with a serious personal issue because I was going to use all my 6ft 5 250 on him. I had family with me also:). Guys put people aside and tell them…por ahi si…por ahi no..hermano echate para un lado..o sabes que te recomiedo otra playa…all good and understandable. You saving lives doing that… I respect that..but all that cursing with elderly, kids and families around. Help people in the water man. It wasn’t like a Kelly Slater or Mike Stewart was in the water or anything like that. It was people having fun. It will better for the sport and the economy. As some of you make a living doing this. Ah yes once outside the water he didn’t say a word anymore:) but I love my country sooo much i let it slide. Beautiful city and place. 5 stars on that.

Beautiful beach! Especially for surfers!

Apr 2022 • Friends

Domes Beach is one of my favorite beaches in western PR to visit. I’m not a surfer, but it’s a beautiful beach to watch the surf, grab a drink and an empanada at the snack shack and sit in the sun beneath a palm tree. This is not a beach to swim at-you risk cutting up your feet on jagged, slippery rock and rip tides. Surfers ONLY! But it’s a nice beach to collect small shells and sea glass which are hard to come by on most PR beaches it seems!
Restrooms are available. This time visiting we did notice a few homeless tents set up along the edge of the beach which hadn’t been there last time.
Walking path and lookout well maintained and clean.

Beautiful Sunset

Apr 2021 • Couples

Great for surfers and for people like me who just wants a nice peaceful afternoon to watch the sunset. The beach can be rocky and not good for swimming, however the rocks themselves can serve as natural water pools that can be good for kids to play with and for adults to lay and relax in.

Great for surfers and non-surfers

Nov 2020

This beach is great for surfers and non-surfers. There are areas with shade for non-surfers, and you can also stay safe near the shore. A beautiful beach, and great opportunity to enjoy nature. Bring you camera.

Surfers Paradise

Feb 2020

A small bay and a fine sand beach. Domes Beach is a public beach and popular place for surfers. Great place to catch some rays, have a picnic or to watch sunset surfing. Beach is swimmable in the shallow area but watch for a strong current. Beside the beach was a huge white dome shape that actually used to be a re-fueling station for nuclear warships.

Great surfing beach

Jan 2020 • Couples

At least in winter this is a better surfing than swimming beach. Depending on surf there can be some shade along the shore.

Feel the power of the big waves

Dec 2019

Strong waves and blue skies await you at this simple uncluttered beach. Its pretty from the overlooks above at the lighthouse but to really experience it you need to get down in the sand and surf and immerse yourself in the glory of this beautiful beach

Great Surf Watching

Dec 2019 • Couples

Just pick a spot near the lighthouse and watch the surfers go at it. Really amazing and enjoyable. Bar on top of the hill only takes cash so get some dollars before you get there otherwise you will have to watch others enjoying their mojitos without you.

Maria’s Beach is another spot with lots of surfing activity. But never fear, even if you’re not a surfer, you won’t get bored. Domes Beach

Rincón

Google Maps | Parking: Free parking in front of Domes museum gate | Best Nearby Hotel: Lazy Parrot Inn & Mini Resort

If you’re here to go surfing in Puerto Rico, you can’t miss a visit to Domes Beach. Famous for hosting an international surfing contest once a year, Domes features strong surf, golden sand, and beautiful scenery – including a non-functional nuclear power plant and reactor in the shape of a dome. The beach doesn’t have any facilities, but it’s a great camping spot.

Spanish Wall Beach

Rincón

Google Maps | Parking: Free parking in front of Domes Beach or Sandy Beach | Best Nearby Hotel: Lazy Parrot Inn & Mini Resort

If you’re looking for a nice walk along the beach instead of swimming and surfing, then head over to Spanish Wall Beach. Only reachable from Domes Beach, this beach gets its name from the ruins of old railway trails on the coast. You won’t find facilities though, so bring a backpack with snacks and plan to catch the sunset.

Sandy Beach

Rincón

Google Maps | Parking: Free parking in front of the beach | Best Nearby Hotel: Casa Isleña

Sandy Beach is the main beach of Rincón and, depending on the season you visit Puerto Rico, you’ll see either swimmers or surfers in these Atlantic Ocean waters. This beach offers plenty of space for an active beach crowd. Although there aren’t any facilities, you’ll find beach bars, hotels, and restaurants close by. Collectors can also hunt sea glass in this spot.

👉 Local Tip: If you’re looking for less crowded beaches, then check out Antonio’s Beach and River Mouth Beach (both are just a short walk from Sandy Beach), which feel more like private beaches with tidal pools.

Steps Beach

Rincón

Google Maps | Parking: Free, but limited, parking spots in front of the beach | Best Nearby Hotel: Lazy Parrot Inn & Mini Resort

Part of the Tres Palmas Marine Reserve, Steps Beach is one of the best beaches in Rincón. While the tide might be strong (especially during the off-season) a natural rock barrier forms multiple pools along the coast that are perfect for solo adventurers and families alike. When the tides are low, the Tres Palmas Marine Reserve is the best spot for snorkeling and scuba diving in Rincón. The only amenity on this beach is nature itself.

👉 Don’t Forget to Pack: If you’re visiting the Tres Palmas Marine Reserve, don’t forget to bring your snorkeling equipment. The ZEEPORTE snorkeling set brings everything necessary for a day of adventure. See our full guide to what to pack for a beach trip for more tips.

Pools Beach

Rincón

Google Maps | Parking: Free parking on nearby streets | Best Nearby Hotel: Casa Verde Hotel

Located between The Spanish Wall Beach and Sandy Beach, Pools Beach is a small beach that attracts mostly surfers but also has a natural pool. Although it doesn’t have any facilities, the beach is quite private and ideal for relaxing under the palm trees while reading a book. If you’re feeling adventurous, climb the rocky point that divides Pools Beach from its popular neighbor, Sandy Beach.
