San Juan, 19 abr (EFE).- La gerencia del Aeropuerto Internacional Luis Muñoz Marín de San Juan anunció este martes que acatará la orden federal de eliminar el uso obligatorio de la mascarilla en los aeródromos de Estados Unidos y sus territorios, que incluyen a Puerto Rico.
Así lo informó en un comunicado de prensa Jorge Hernández, presidente de Aeroestar Puerto Rico -operador del aeropuerto sanjuanero-, tras la determinación el lunes de la Administración de Seguridad del Transporte (TSA) del uso opcional de la mascarilla en estos lugares.
La decisión oficial la determinó Kathryn Kimball Mizelle, una jueza federal del estado de Florida.
«Tras la determinación emitida por parte del Tribunal federal y la notificación oficial de la agencia, a cargo de la seguridad de los aeropuertos de los Estados Unidos, ya no será necesario requerir el uso compulsivo de la mascarilla a pasajeros, visitantes o empleados en las instalaciones del aeropuerto», afirmó.
Sin embargo, Hernández indicó que los Centros para el Control y la Prevención de Enfermedades sostiene su recomendación, por lo que toda persona que determine utilizarla, puede continuar haciéndolo de manera voluntaria.
Con relación al uso de mascarillas dentro de los aviones, Hernández señaló que cada línea aérea podría establecer su propia política.
«Hasta el momento, United Airlines, Delta, Southwest, American Airlines, JetBlue, Spirit, Frontier y Alaska Airlines han anunciado que acataron la determinación judicial sobre el uso de mascarillas, por lo que no las requerirán de manera compulsoria», detalló.
De acuerdo con Hernández, en las próximos horas y días otras aerolíneas publicarán su posición, por lo que se actualizará la información a través de las plataformas digitales del aeropuerto.
«Por lo pronto, recomendamos a los pasajeros llevar consigo una mascarilla accesible y consultar sobre el uso de esta a su línea aérea antes de abordar», agregó Hernández.
«Además, algunas líneas con vuelos internacionales, así como ciertos destinos a los que viaje, podrían requerir el uso compulsorio (obligatorio) de mascarilla, por lo que recomendamos a los pasajeros a mantenerla consigo», alertó.
El Gobierno estadounidense había extendido el pasado 13 de abril y por dos semanas más el uso obligatorio de mascarillas en todas las redes de transporte ordenado por la TSA, que se aplicaba a los aviones, aeropuertos, autobuses y ferrocarriles. EFE
