El clima de Puerto Rico le puede despertar el espíritu veraniego a cualquiera en todo momento del año. Debido a esto, uno de los pasatiempos favoritos para muchos es pasar días bajo el sol a orillas del mar. 1. Playa El Escambrón

Si te encuentras en San Juan de Puerto Rico, una playa que merece tu visita es Escambrón. Está justo en el casco histórico de la ciudad, por lo que atrae a muchos locales y turistas. Su agua cristalina permite practicar snorkel, por lo que puedes apreciar la vida marina que allí habita.

Aquí, además de disfrutar de la arena, el calor del sol y el agua, también puedes tener una experiencia cultural e histórica. A su lado se encuentran el parque del Tercer Milenio y la estructura Batería del Escambrón. Esta última es una fortificación militar construida a finales del siglo XVIII. Además, en el parque hay varios trayectos para pasear, correr bicicleta o simplemente disfrutar de la impresionante vista.

2. Playa El Alambique

Si lo que quieres es practicar alguna actividad acuática, como correr jet ski o montar el banana boat, una recomendación es visitar el Alambique, otra de las playas de Puerto Rico para visitar en San Juan. Si lo que buscas es obtener un buen bronceado tomando un baño de sol, este lugar también te resultará ideal, siempre utilizando protección.

El Alambique cuenta con una amplia zona libre de palmeras, en donde puedes poner tu toalla o sillita. Aquí tienes la posibilidad de vivir el ambiente local, ya que esta playa se encuentra rodeada de diferentes zonas residenciales de Isla Verde. Otro de sus atractivos son los restaurantes cercanos a ella, los que atraen a muchos sanjuaneros.

3. Playa Condado

Cuando se trata de San Juan de Puerto Rico y sus playas, no podemos dejar de lado una de las favoritas. La Playa Condado deleita a sus visitantes por su particular estilo. Ubicada en el centro de las principales ofertas hoteleras de la zona, aquí puedes complementar tu día de playa con shopping, deliciosa gastronomía, actividades culturales y más. Todo disponible a poca distancia.

Aunque puedes disfrutarla con quien quieras, el ambiente de esta zona es una buena alternativa para visitar con tu pareja. Utilizando la opción de múltiples destinos de Uber tienes la opción de solicitar un viaje a través de la app para llegar a esta playa y, durante el trayecto, hacer una breve parada para pasar a buscar a tu acompañante.

4. Playa Peña

A continuación, estamos a punto de revelarte uno de los mayores tesoros escondidos de San Juan. Por si no lo sabías, justo al frente del capitolio se encuentra una de las playas de Puerto Rico para visitar con una belleza sin igual. Aunque pequeña, la Playa Peña te regalará inolvidables momentos de tranquilidad y majestuosas vistas.

A través de su agua cristalina no solamente podrás ver tus propios pies, sino que también los hermosos arrecifes que allí viven. Su profundidad cerca de la orilla no es mucha, por lo que puedes nadar o hasta flotar relajadamente. Por un momento olvidarás que te encuentras en plena ciudad. Suena bien, ¿verdad?

5. Playa Último Trolley, Ocean Park

Al Último Trolley, popularmente conocida como Ocean Park, llegan familias, grupos de amigos y todo tipo de personas para disfrutar de esta divertida y conocida playa de San Juan. Aunque durante la semana puede tener días tranquilos, mayormente está siempre llena de vida. Aquí podrás disfrutar de ese deseado chapuzón con momentos de sol.

Justo al lado hay un parque con pista para caminar y un área recreativa para los niños. También, es muy común ver a los visitantes con sus mascotas. Atravesando este, se ubica la famosa calle Loíza, la cual está llena de negocios, restaurantes y bares de gran variedad. Esto por si después de pasar un entretenido día de playa no quieres pararle a la diversión.

In the Puerto Rican capital, beaches are as varied as the crowds who flock to enjoy the sun, sea and sand that make San Juan such a tempting vacation destination.

Offering an eclectic variety of both sand and surf, San Juan, the capital and largest city in Puerto Rico, is home to beaches big and small, crowded and unspoilt. Each stretch of sand is magnificent in its own right here, with plenty to keep visitors of all ages entertained. Read on for Culture Trip’s cherry-picked selection of the finest.

Atlantic Beach

A long-time favorite of San Juan’s LBGTQIA+ community, rainbows are a regular occurrence at Atlantic Beach, which offers both relaxation and fun in equal measures. Flanked by a portfolio of beachfront hotels and restaurants – many of which offer access to beach chairs and umbrellas if you purchase food and drink – Atlantic Beach certainly knows how to entertain. Head to the nearby bike rental shop after a day of sun-baking and spend a couple of hours exploring a wealth of nearby tourist attractions, including San Juan Cathedral and La Fortaleza – Palacio de Santa Catalina.

Condado Beach

Condado Beach brings a dose of Miami to Puerto Rico, drawing everyone from celebrities and honeymooning couples to families with small kids. In close proximity to San Juan, you can spend the morning exploring the old city before bagging a prime spot on the beach for an afternoon of people watching – just keep in mind if you’re not staying at one of its oceanfront hotels, we recommend renting a sun lounger and umbrella to shade yourself from the strong Caribbean sun.

Isla Verde Beach

A popular San Juan suburb, the beach resort area of Isla Verde is home to some of the best high-end hotels in the city, plus a long stretch of sun-kissed public beach complete with toilet and shower facilities – and a great selection of beachfront restaurants. A prime spot for those with a penchant for watersports, you’ll love hitting the water on a rented jet ski, or parasailing through the skies. Surfing is decent too, where boards strapped to car roofs are a common sight.

Escambron Beach

Often touted as one of the finest beaches in San Juan, come the weekend you’d expect families to be out in full force here. Luckily, Escambron Beach has managed to ward off the crowds you’ll so often find at many of the city’s coastlines, but we still recommend getting there early to set up shop on this sheltered arc of sand. Surfers tend to gravitate here as strong swells pump out perfect reef breaks, while a 17th-century Spanish fort shimmering in the distance makes for some pretty enchanting views.

Hobie Beach

Crowds not your thing? Then head over to Hobie Beach. Lying east of San Juan in the neighboring town of Carolina, it’s a great spot for swimming and sunbathing, with both chairs and umbrellas available for rent. If you’re visiting Puerto Rico for Noche de San Juan – the eve of the feast day for Saint John the Baptist – Hobie is one of the best beaches to fully capture the crowds and the celebrations, so be sure to head down early to really soak up the party atmosphere.

Balneario de Carolina

Perhaps one of Isla Verde’s most beloved beaches, Balneario de Carolina is one of a handful of Blue Flag beaches on the island, meaning it’s studiously maintained to pristine standards. Calm waves and low tides attract many families whose children can play on the beach or at the picnic areas – along with BBQ grills for a late afternoon feast and plenty of room to spread out under palm and almond trees for a post-feed snooze.

Playa Isla Verde

Often dubbed the Copacabana of Puerto Rico, Playa Isla Verde is a hotspot for the city’s beautiful people – who gather here to simply lounge on its golden sands or let off some steam with a post-work game of volleyball. Jet skis, flyboards, beach chairs and umbrellas are all available to rent – while it’s also a key location for delivering stunning sunsets. Many people stick around to watch the sun sink into the sea with a cold beer in hand.

Playita del Condado

The quieter, more compact sister of Condado Beach, Playita del Condado is known for the clarity of its waters. What it lacks in size, it makes up for in its beauty – with towering trees lining the back of the beach providing plenty of shade in the morning and early afternoon. With transparent waters and non-existent waves, be sure to bring along a snorkel mask to discover the vibrant marine life below.

El Alambique Beach

One of Isla Verde’s three beaches, El Alambique is closest to San Juan with water that’s calm enough for snorkeling and, despite its handy location, generally free from crowds. Chair and umbrella rentals are easily available if you’re not staying at one of its beachfront hotels, and when you inevitably get hungry from all the sun and saltwater, you need not look far. Alambique Beach Lounge comes highly recommended and there’s no setting more ideal to consume fresh seafood as you watch the sun go down.

Condado Playa

Within just 10 minutes of leaving San Juan’s bustling center, you’ll be in the sun-kissed Condado, an upscale region that is one of Puerto Rico’s most fashionable places to call home. Casa Aramana is located in San Juan, 200 meters from Isla Verde and 12 km from Fort San Felipe del Morro.
Very comfortable & super quiet beach house on a residential street just 1 block from the beach. Marisol, who lives upstairs, is a fantastic host. Super friendly & helpful for anything you need.
There’s 4 bedrooms in the house (downstairs) but only 2 are rented out (the other 2 are unused) each with it’s own bathroom next to the room. All the rooms are a good size with brand new mattresses & bedsheets which are top quality & extremely comfy. The bathroom is right next to the bedroom but is only for you & is extremely clean with plenty of hot water & great water pressure. Perhaps the best we had in all of PR!
There’s a communal kitchen & living room area but as there are only 2 rooms, you pretty much have it for yourself. We stayed 5 nights in total & there was only 1 night when the other room was occupied.
There’s a Walgreen’s & lots of restaurants just 1 minute walk from the property. The beach is a 2 minute walk!
Highly recommended & we’d definitely stay here again. 10/10!

Great instructions for an after hours check in, lots of beach equipment available if wanted. Ideal location, close to Calle Loiza for restaurants and cafés, also close to the beach. I felt totally safe as a female solo guest as the property is very secure.

Everything. Spacious room to the right when you come in the gate on the left. I was afraid that the street noise would be too much but it didn’t stop us sleeping at all. Excellent black out blinds on windows. love the shower! Love the welcoming, bright yellow color of the house. Very pretty courtyard. Excellent location, very short walk through a gated complex to a lovely beach that never got too crowded. One block away from Calle Loiza where there are so many good restaurants etc. We went to Pinky’s for breakfast on 3 mornings thanks to Roberto’s recommendation. Roberto was extremely helpful before and during our stay. If we’re lucky enough to come back to San Juan we will definitely stay here.
