About

La Placita de Santurce is a muststop for anyone visiting Puerto Rico. It was founded more than 100 years ago as a two-tiered market square, full of shops to buy fruit, vegetables, meat, medical offices and much more. Now, in the day it functions like a market place with some open restaurants and in the night from 6:00 in the afternoon the Famous “Placita de Santurce” comes to life. There are recognized restaurants and local kiosk that sell fried foods like empanadillas, alcapurrias and bacalaitos. From Thursday to Sunday the atmosphere increases in the Placita. Here you can dance salsa or merengue with live music, listen to jazz, rock band, sing karaoeke or have a good time in the night clubs. History, food and nightlife all in one place.

Must See Hot Spot!

Jul 2022

Non stop fun for all! This is a must visit spot in San Juan! There are music ‘stalls’ surrounding the area playing all types of music so you should find something that suits you. It’s fun to walk around & people watch and see some great dancing! We were a group of 5 women and felt very safe both nights that we visited!

Not much to write about

Jun 2022

The place to be is the back terrace were locals gather for leisurely conversations and tourists stop to rest their weary calf muscles. The stores are very basic, almost like roadside stands. Neither quaint nor specialized, it’s surprisingly inadequate for a place with so much history. Compared to Faneuil Hall in Boston, or the Mercado de Triana in Seville, there’s a lot it _could_ be.

During the day it is a small market

Apr 2022

We went during the day. It is just a small market, with not many open stands. There were some good fruits and vegetables. There were several restaurants open. It is not very big.

It will be a LIT night! All good Vibes!

Mar 2022

If you want to experience where the locals go to hang out and party this is the place for you to go! It was so much fun. The DJs are awesome and the drinks are extremely affordable. My favorite place was Tulum. It had a very lively crowd and the DJ had a great mix. Anywhere you go on the strip you won’t be disappointed. If you want to dance salsa keep walking around the corner and you will find old-school salsa and locals enjoying the night. Ubers are a pain to get out of there because the traffic is brutal but call it and find a spot to have them meet you away from the main street.
