Beautiful Venue!
The Vanderbilt from the beginning was our #1 choice in where we wanted to get married when we decided on San Juan as our destination wedding location. I chose them in part because of the natural beauty of all the event spaces they have, there is nothing much more you need to do for decorations, the room(s) speak for themselves. We started off with a different catering manager and halfway through started working with Monica. She was a pleasure to work with and made our experience wonderful. I added on some last minute items and she had no issues with accommodating me with them. On wedding day her staff was excellent and my guests complimented the staff on their service and professionalism. Thank you Monica and the entire Vanderbilt team who worked on our wedding and made it the most beautiful special day for us!

Amazing Service! Beautiful Venue
We hosted our destination wedding at the Condado Vanderbilt and it was perfect. Our guests loved staying in the hotel and everything on the day of the wedding was awesome. The food at the wedding was some of the best wedding food we’ve had, and the service was impeccable. I would highly recommend working with the team at the Vanderbilt – especially David – for your wedding!

The Right Choice!
I cannot tell you how incredible the Condado Vanderbilt Hotel and Iris Ortiz, the destination wedding manager, are! We had my daughter’s wedding here, and I could be any happier with this decision!
Iris worked with us planning the details of the wedding/reception dinner and farewell brunch, she was wonderful from start to finish. She was always prompt to respond to emails, answer questions, provide advice/support and help us make decisions, which was great since it was a destination wedding. I cannot thank her enough for her professionalism, expertise, care and concern.
Everyone who attended the wedding loved the food! I stayed at the hotel a couple of days before the wedding. Every meal I had, whether room service, breakfast, lunch, or dinner was absolutely delicious! Our guests had a choice of filet, sea bass or vegetarian and everyone left happy! The day of the wedding went very smoothly, largely in part to Iris. The bridal suite was perfect for getting ready and had a gorgeous view of the ocean! The Salon Dorado could not look more amazing, the service was like royalty.
My daughter had the ceremony, the cocktail hour on the West Veranda and it was absolutely stunning! We had Mojito, Sangria and passed appetizers, all widely enjoyed by guests. The reception at Salon Dorado was simply perfect and beautiful. Overall, I cannot thank Iris enough for making my daughter’s wedding day so special! I am so happy I chose Condado Vanderbilt and wish I could re-live the night over and over!

Choose the best hotel rooms
Almost every hotel, whether budget 3* or luxury 5*, has good and bad rooms, even in the same price category. And if everything is clear with good rooms, then bad rooms, which the hotel also needs to sell, promise its inhabitants a lot of problems and guarantee a terrible vacation experience.
Very often, tourists have to deal with old renovation, poor soundproofing, creaky floors, remoteness from the benefits of civilization, an unbearable smell or not the most picturesque view – the list of inconveniences is endless, and you will pay for such a room no less than for any another. nine0005
To avoid such problems, we suggest choosing a room in advance, while still planning your vacation.

The Condado Vanderbilt Hotel on Ashford Avenue in San Juan, Puerto Rico is a hotel built in 1919. It has also been known as the Grand Condado Vanderbilt Hotel, the Condado Hotel, the Condado Hotel, the Condado Beach Hotel, and the Hyatt Puerto Rico Hotel. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2008. [1] This, along with La Concha Resort, is currently under renovation as part of the Condado Trio redevelopment project, which aims to revive the western part of San Juan’s Condado neighborhood. [3] The hotel was designed by the architectural firm of Warren and Wetmore, who also designed Grand Central Station in New York. It was built by the Vanderbilt family and it marked the beginning of high class tourism in Puerto Rico. [4] The hotel partially opened on October 16, 2012, but most of its rooms and suites located in the two neighboring 11-story towers will be available in 2013. [4] The renovated hotel also features five restaurants, one of which, “19Nineteen” or “1919”, credited as “Puerto Rico’s fine restaurant”. [4]
Friedrich Wilhelm Vanderbilt, son of William Henry Vanderbilt.[5] On October 16, 1919, the hotel, then, costing a million dollars to build, was opened.[6][7][8] It has been suggested that the early Spanish Revival style of architecture used by Friedrich Vanderbilt.[2] The original roofing featured antique Spanish tiles sourced from old Spanish buildings in Puerto Rico. The floors and public areas, including the main staircase, were decorated with marble and mosaics, and the area between the ocean and the hotel building was designed to help the building withstand damage from the Atlantic coast. The hotel also featured stone-paved terraces.[6] giant pandanus, several species of Bougainvillae, fruit trees, and coconut trees.
Lenses can also be found in the hotel’s garden. [6]
The Vanderbilt Condado was the first luxury hotel to open in Puerto Rico and was also the first hotel in Puerto Rico to have a casino after gambling was legalized in 1940. [9] [10] [11] Notable guests to have stayed at Condado Vanderbilt include former United States President Franklin Roosevelt and his wife Eleanor, [5] American aviator Charles Lindbergh, [12] composer Jose Luis Monero, [13] author -performer Carlos Gardel, Hollywood actor Errol Flynn, comedian Bob Hope, and pianist Arthur Rubinstein. [2] Activities that were available included American golf, tennis and motoring among other things. They were advertised in various American newspapers at 1920s. [14]
During the Great Depression of the 1930s, Manuel Gonzalez bought the hotel from the Vanderbilts and changed its name to the Condado Hotel. [7] In 1950, after a series of changes in ownership, the name was changed to the Condado Beach Hotel. [15] At this time, 80 rooms were added to the hotel, as well as a bar, cocktail lounge and cafe. [2] However, in the 1970s, the hotel’s popularity declined to the point of being demolished. Ex-governor Louis A. Ferre then issued a decree declaring the hotel a cultural heritage site. [2] It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2008. [nineteen0005
Renovation
Left 11-story Condado Vanderbilt Hotel Tower (right) on Condado Beach
In 1997, the administration of Pedro Rossello proposed that the Condado area be redeveloped. Brian McLaughlin proposed updating and expanding the hotel however, then-San Juan Mayor Sila M. Calderon challenged the proposal in court. This resulted in the hotel not being abandoned until 2002, when she finally agreed. [16] [17] After being abandoned for seven years, a renovation of the hotel was finally undertaken at a cost of US$270 million in 2003. [15] The goal was to turn it into a five-star hotel with a resemblance to the original 1919 structures.
On October 16, 2012, after ten years of renovation, two longer than originally planned and 53,441 hours of operation, part of the refurbished hotel, consisting of several new banquet halls, bars and restaurants was finally opened for business, marking the resumption of the hotel [18 ].
