Best Beaches near San Juan Airport, Puerto Rico

Travelers going to Vieques, Culebra or other islands in the Caribbean often choose to spend one or two nights in Puerto Rico before taking their flight to their final destination. Cruisers often spend a night or two in San Juan, so this list is also perfect for them. All of the beaches are a short distance from the Old San Juan and Pan American piers. Luis Muñoz Marín International Airport, commonly known as San Juan Airport is near the beaches of Isla Verde and San Juan, giving travelers with limited time in Puerto Rico some great beach options…complete with water sports, world-class attractions, entertainment, dining, and shopping nearby. We’ve included a map below of the best beaches near the San Juan Airport for your convenience.

The beach of Isla Verde is literally just a short walk from the runway of Luis Muñoz Marín International Airport, but for security purposes it is best to take a short 5 minute taxi drive. If you’re arriving to the airport and seek a nearby vacation destination that maximizes your time on the beach, Isla Verde is an excellent choice. If you’re a cruiser and have a few hours or night to spend before your departure back home, the hotels and resorts in Isla Verde offer the most convenience. “Isla Verde Beach” is actually two large and wide crescent shaped beaches divided into three partitions as shown in the map below (El Alambique Beach, Pine Grove Beach & Carolina Public Beach). The beaches of Condado, a tourist district in the capital city of San Juan. Just a 15-minute ride from the San Juan Airport you can spend a relaxing day enjoying the beaches of Condado, easily accessible along Ashford Drive. Oceano

Building

Sitting right on the Condado Beach, Oceano brings some of the spirit of the Miami South Beach party to Puerto Rico. There are three different levels of lounge for guests to enjoy including the Luna rooftop bar (which has a beautiful view of the ocean), the Brisas Lounge (which mixes indoor and outdoor space with a clean white decor), and the outdoor La Playa Bar (with access to the beach).

If you’re looking to dance the night away to great live music, then El Barril is the place for you. There are also mixing booths for DJs when live bands aren’t performing. The closer it is to the weekend the more crowded it will be, but there will be space for you to hang out and dance to some reggaetón. Drinks taste delicious, look beautiful and are very well made at El Bar Bero. Despite the informal setting (it’s moustache themed!) bartenders are attentive and great conversationists. The drinks are a mix of originals and classics that have a Puerto Rican flare, but even if you’re not a fan of beer give the ginger beer a try because it’s homemade and delicious.
