Viajeros podrán ir en vuelos directos desde San Juan a ciudades como Medellín, Cancún y Puerto Plata

Cada vez son más los viajeros puertorriqueños que apuestan por vuelos directos hacia algunos destinos internacionales cercanos a la isla, y que no son servidos por la aerolíneas comerciales, por lo que la agencia de viajes mayorista E-Vacations anunció que ofrecerá nuevamente este año vuelos chárter a Medellín, Cancún y Punta Cana.

De igual forma, reactivará el vuelo chárter con destino a la ciudad de Puerto Plata, en República Dominicana.

Manuel Jiménez, presidente de E-Vacations, precisó que los vuelos comenzarán a finales de mayo y se extenderán hasta principios de agosto. Son operados por la aerolínea Swift Air desde el Aeropuerto Internacional Luis Muñoz Marín, en Isla Verde.

Los vuelos forman parte de unos paquetes vacacionales a la venta en sobre 150 agencias de viajes alrededor de la isla, de acuerdo con el ejecutivo.

Además de los boletos aéreos, los paquetes incluyen estadías, traslados y excursiones que los clientes pueden añadir a su experiencia. Hay frecuencias de tres, cuatro y siete noches.

“Los paquetes son competitivos, porque tenemos tarifas negociadas con los hoteles y, por lo tanto, son los mejores precios para los clientes”, aseveró el ejecutivo en entrevista con El Nuevo Día.

Según Jiménez, el destino más popular es Punta Cana, seguido de Medellín, que recientemente ganó popularidad entre los viajeros boricuas.

Medellín, localizado al noroeste de Colombia, es conocido por su gastronomía, vida nocturna, museos y parques. Asimismo, es famoso por la Piedra del Peñol, donde los turistas suben 702 escalones para disfrutar de una vista del pueblo de Guatapé, y la Comuna 13, una comunidad que transformó su pasado violento por el narcotráfico a través del arte y la música.

“Desde octubre, estamos teniendo bastantes reservaciones”, dijo Jiménez. “Usualmente, las personas reservan con tres, cuatro o cinco meses de anticipación, porque así dan un depósito y tienen tiempo para ir abonando poco a poco hasta que complete el total del paquete vacacional”.

Conveniencia y economía

Para Manuel Franceschini, propietario de la agencia de viajes Travel Plus, en Ponce, los clientes que eligen este tipo de paquetes están buscando comodidad y ahorro.

Indicó que, por ejemplo, para llegar a Medellín en un vuelo comercial desde Puerto Rico hay que hacer escala en Bogotá, Panamá o Miami, pero los vuelos chárter de E-Vacations completan la ruta en menos de unas tres horas desde San Juan.

“Lo mismo pasa con Cancún, que es un vuelo de dos horas y media o tres. Te montas en el avión y bajas listo para la guagua (del traslado) y llegar al hotel todo incluido”, subrayó.

En el caso de Punta Cana, el experto aseguró que el paquete vacacional es atractivo, debido a que los precios de los vuelos de aerolíneas como JetBlue y Frontier Airlines se dispararon.

Una búsqueda realizada por este medio encontró vuelos entre $250 y $380 con destino a Punta Cana para la temporada de verano. El viaje no dura ni una hora.

Pese a este escenario inflacionario, indicó que la demanda de viajes continúa alta, al punto de que su agencia tiene 23 salidas vendidas para este año.

Aumento de frecuencias de vuelos a Colombia

Al tiempo que los vuelos chárters continúan ganando popularidad para visitar Medellín, el director ejecutivo de la Compañía de Turismo de Puerto Rico (CTPR), Carlos Mercado Santiago, confirmó recientemente a este medio que la aerolínea Avianca ampliará este año la frecuencia de vuelos con destino a Bogotá.

Incluso, reveló la posibilidad de que haya otro vuelo directo a un segundo destino de Colombia, que podría ser Medellín.

En 2021, la aerolínea colombiana Viva Air recibió la aprobación de la agencia reguladora de aviación de Colombia para volar a la capital puertorriqueña desde dicha ciudad.

Tanto Colombia como España, el otro destino internacional con mayor demanda en la isla, son parte de los mercados internacionales estratégicos donde Discover Puerto Rico, la organización de mercadeo del destino (DMO, por sus siglas en inglés), mantiene iniciativas de mercadeo activas.
